The AltScanner seems to generate a lot of overhead. It may be unavoidable, but worth mentioning.

It only needs to happen once. It's saved after that

It's in development. Nowhere near ready.

I have to agree with Seerah and lilsparky. There's way too much white-space on the expanded frame when there's no Officer/Player note.

My suggestion: Put *something* there. Even if it's just a graphic that has a big red "X" on it.

Weren't implemented when the video was taken. They are now and it looks ok. The details panel is only 128px high. It's not as big as it may seem in the video.

What useful feature will this addon offer, apart from being able to show main/alt relationships clearly, and a search feature?

Do you have other unannounced features you intend to incorporate or add?

I received a few suggestions from various places.

I'm considering things like persistent voting booths and other such management features.

Right now I'm concentrating on the basic operation, while those things can be added in once there is a solid foundation.

Or lay the info out like this:

Guild toon 1 zone level class
Guild toon 2 (expanded) zone level class
        guild rank last login race
        Player Note (if exists)
        Officer Note (if exists)
    Guild toon 3
That way, if both notes are non-existent, you won't end up with tons of extra space. It also wastes tons of space to list name, zone and level/class a second time.

edit: moved player/officer notes to separate lines to save room if there is just one note

That's a good suggestion but the problem is that the details panel will be used to control main-alt relationships in the future and that will require extra space anyway.

looks like really nice functionality, but i have to agree it seems kind of jarring in terms of look.

I'm not sure what you mean by jarring. Could you explain?
It's designed to be functional and useful rather than standardized.

an option to consider for the expanded selection mechanism might be an additional panel locked to the right of the main frame. when you click a person, it shows up with their details and can be toggled off by a subsequent click or a close button.

    $0.02

Might consider that. Am not finished with the current design yet though.

You asked for feedback, I gave it. :p

    I wasn't being blunt :P

EDIT: I suppose I should answer in more detail. Basically, the features and layout that this mod will require will not be very usable if it was done in the standard WoW style, so I went for a more modern style. It's not exactly copied from Macs either, in fact only the search box is kinda.

looks cool, except when you click on a name and it expands, that section seems to take up way more room than it needs to. You have the text larger, I think, and tons of blank space.

The blank space is for the public and officer note. It really does need to be that size.

I would also suggest an alternate skin (or at least tone it down a little), as some may not like the Mac look, or wish it to better match their UI/the game in general.

Not interested in implementing skins at the moment.

I'm currently developing an addon called GuildPanel, which will be a replacement for the guild roster and guild control panel included in the Social window.

The basic idea is to provide a more modern set of tools for viewing and managing guilds, especially those that have a lot of players and a lot of alts.

The panel includes a search feature for searching by name, zone, class, level, etc.

The main focus of the addon will be to manage alts. It will have a scanner and importer that will try its best to work out which alts belong to which character. This will include scanning the public or officer note for similar strings to the main's name. In addition, this process can be completed manually.

The whole point is to try to be as smart as possible about it. Manually entering alts into the database is not a good way to do it, so there needs to be multiple ways of guessing and then asking for confirmation later.

The alts database will be shared among all guild members with the addon installed through a sync system.

Here is the original photoshop mockup that I made, but it is out of date:
    http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/2513/guildmeetingmockupaq1.jpg

And this is a video showing how it currently looks:
    http://www.wegame.com/watch/guildpanel2_2/

As you can see, it's starting to mature.

The guild tabard changes based on your guild, of course.

Would very much like comments and feature suggestions from the rest of the addon community, thank you.
