    posted a message on Reliable way of checking for spell existence?
    Thanks a lot for the tips... as you guys may have guessed, I'm pretty new at lua. I pretty much guessed at how to write that piece of code based on my dabbling in Objective-C/Cocoa.

    So to sum it up, "if variable then" will do it only if the player has the spell, while "if variable == nil then" will only do it if the player does NOT have the spell, correct?

    Thanks again.

    Ok... assuming that I'm not worrying about localization (which I'm not, at least at this point, addon will be for personal use) shouldn't the following code work?

    local playerHasStealth = GetSpellInfo("Stealth")
    if (not playerHasStealth == nil) then
    	singlebar:Show();
    end

    I tried that, but it seems to be returning nil even when the player knows the spell.

    I haven't tried the spellbook searching method yet and would prefer to avoid it because at least to me, it seems like a little bit too much for simply checking if the player knows a single spell.

    Hey!

    I'm writing an addon that needs to be able to show/hide specific frames depending on whether or not the player has a certain spell or not. What's the best way of going about this? I've tried PlayerHasSpells("spell"), but it seems to say "true" even if the player does not have that spell.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    posted a message on Ace2: Right for my addon projects?
    Hello,

    I am looking to dive into the realm of WoW addon development some time in the near future, and I was wondering if I should use the Ace2 library or not for the development of my projects.

    I currently have two addons planned: A fairly simple kill-on-sight list, and a dungeon map addon that hooks into the default world map and works with AtlasLoot. Are they complex/large enough to where they would benefit from the use of Ace, or would I be better off not using Ace and coding everything myself?

    Thanks!
    John

    This is my current desktop, and yes, it's a real Mac. ;) It's OS X or Ubuntu for me, no Windows here!

    you can use the blizzard textures instead of making like 15 custom ones.
    like i wrote the mainbar for Lyn

    I wasn't aware that there were Blizz textures for different shapeshift/petbar lenghts... or are you talking about building them manually from provided textures? I.E. apply left endcap, tile middle texture xx times, apply right endcap? If that's the case, it's like I said before... I can't write lua. Right now I'm using eePanels2 for textures.

    remember that some people skip aquatic form for later.
    heck i know people waiting a level or two before getting a new form.

    id go after spellbook gathering, not lvls

    I'd love to do that, but I don't know a single bit of LUA. For now I'm having to create shapeshift bar textures for every possible combination of forms and rely on the user to set the correct texture.

    posted a message on Requesting community help with new UI package
    Hey guys!

    I'm preparing to release a UI package that features my design. I posted a screenshot of it in a thread a few months back on the WoW UI forums (screenshot can still be seen here: http://www.iindigo3d.com/jui1.jpg ) and said I that might be releasing it... If you read that post and liked the design, I'm sorry to have kept you waiting ^_^;

    At any rate, since I don't play a druid, I need a little help with something... I'm creating textures for the first part of the actionbar with a shapeshift bar on top, and I need to know how many different textures I'll need to create to accommodate all the different form combinations created between druid levels and specs. Would anybody happen to know this?

    Also, if anybody that's decent at LUA feels like writing a nice little auto-config for this UI package, I'd be extremely grateful... things like that are really nice for those less adept in the area of UI customization and make UI packages more pleasant for everyone.

    Thanks in advance for any help!
