    So, random thought today:

    Is it possible to create the two frames that hold the text as child frames of the program frame (such that when the program frame is hidden, the two child frames are too)?

    ie. something like:
    parent = CreateFrame("Frame")
    parent.child = CreateFrame("Frame")

    parent:Hide()

    Or do I need to explicitly set up naming and the parent relative?
    parent = CreatFrame("Frame", "ParentFrame", UIParent)
    parent.child = CreateFrame("Frame", "ChildFrame", ParentFrame)

    parent:Hide()

    For those of you who desparately need FPS, copy the appropriate lines out of the attachment in this post.

    But then, if you can't be bothered to read Phanx's posts, you're probably not reading this one either ...

    Thanks!

    Anyways, the whole point to this is I was playing with a copy of rdji's CML addon and wanted to try things out without using the Ace libraries -- yes, I can be stupid that way ;P

    So, for anyone who has the time and patience, could you please look over the following attachment and comment. I've got it to the point where it works just fine, but I want to know if I'm making any obvious mistakes, using bad coding practices, being inefficient with memory, etc.

    Thanks.

    To set up a repeating event using OnUpdate, I've used something like:
    frame:SetScript("OnUpdate", function(self, elapsed)
    	if (self.nextUpdate < 0) then
    		self.nextUpdate = updateInterval
    		self:DoSomething()
    	else
    		self.nextUpdate = self.nextUpdate - elapsed
    	end
    end)

    Now, later on, if I want to "unregister" the function with OnUpdate [ie. function addon:Disable()], can I just use something like:
    frame:SetScript("OnUpdate", nil)

    ?

    There's probably a better way to do this, but this was a quick change I made to my copy of Fence_Browse.lua so that it would show the price per item for single items (as long as they were stackable). (It's more for visual clarity so you can scan down the first column.)

    The changes start at line 147 and are just two inserted local variables and a minor change to the conditional at the bottom of the following code sample:
    			local name, _, count, _, _, _, minBid, minIncrement, buyoutPrice, bidAmount, _, _ = GetAuctionItemInfo("list", offset + i)
    			if not name then return end

    			local aiLink = GetAuctionItemLink("list", offset + i)
    			local _, _, _, _, _, _, _, itemCount, _, _ = GetItemInfo(aiLink)

    			button = "BrowseButton"..i
    			itemName = getglobal(button.."Name")
    			moneyFrame = getglobal(button.."MoneyFrame")
    			moneyFrame:SetAlpha(1)

    			local sM, spMoney, bidText, bT

    			if self.db.profile.ShowPrice then
    				local bidPrice = bidAmount or minBid
    				if (buyoutPrice > 0 or bidPrice > 0) and itemCount > 1 then
    					local ep = buyoutPrice > 0 and floor(buyoutPrice/count) or floor(bidPrice/count)
    					local ps = self.db.profile.PriceStyle

    Guess its possible to have char just hanging in a main city selling stuff on AH that is running Auctioneer. I would never load it when I'm playing.

    On your bank/AH mule:
    /auctioneer load always

    On every other character:
    /auctioneer load never

    So, anyways, I just changed the version number in the .toc file and it worked just fine for me.

    cr_Viewport/cr_Viewport.toc
    ## Interface: 20000
    ## Title: cr_Viewport
    ## Author: cerement
    ## Notes: Simple, hardcoded version of CT_Viewport

    Heh, my apologies, didn't even realize this thread was still alive ...

    Anyways, when I get home, I'll take a look at my file, but I don't remember changing anything beyond the .toc file ...

    side note: for that 'minimalist' approach, I personally much prefer Visor2 to MoveAnything ;P

    You mean when an item doesn't have a saved price there should be an option for your feature? That's possible .. will play around with it.

    I don't know if this will help, but attached is a copy of Silver's AutoBuyout ... if nothing else, should be easier to understand than what I was trying to explain ...

    Feature Request (basically replacing Silver's AutoBuyout):
    Ability to autofill the buyout based on a markup from the minimum bid
    (ex. if markup = 1.5, the buyout is autofilled as 1.5 * minimum bid)
    (caution: if you change the buyout manually then it doesn't try to "autocorrect" it)

    Visor and VisorGUI (VisorGUI is just for a lazy way to grab the name of a frame)

    /vz set f=Bar3 p1=BOTTOM pr=UIParent p2=BOTTOM x=0 y=0
    /vz set f=Bar2 p1=BOTTOM pr=Bar3 p2=TOP x=0 y=0
    /vz set f=Bar1 p1=BOTTOM pr=Bar2 p2=TOP x=0 y=0

    Adjust x and y to suit your needs ...
    Repeat for agUF frames ...

    I'm with Samasnier and Mikk on this.

    Wikis are good for documentation. Wikis are communal. Wikis are not social. Forums are social.

    Take a look at the "big boys" of social networking, they handle the "social" aspect by adding a comment thread where relevant -- for example, flickr has a thread for each photo, digg has a thread for each article.

    Wiki page for documentation about the addon
    Wiki talk page for talking about the documentation
    SVN Files for downloading the addon
    Forums for talking about the addon
    Flyspray (or bugzilla or whatever) for reporting bugs

    [and even better, if a user chooses to stay logged in on a specific computer, he should not have to relogin or resubscribe for each of the above pages ... "one account ... um ..." /smacks self in head]

    Absolutely no more than 6 sub-categories
    NO sub-sub-categories

    Raid and Party
    Class Specific (again, no sub-sub-categories)
    Combat & Data
    Inventory & Tradeskill
    Interface

    General and Miscellaneous goes into the parent thread (Ace 2 Addons)

    After deciding and implementing the subcategories, all relevant threads should immediately be moved into those categories to make sure we actually use them.
