I'm looking for translators to help with localization of a few of my addons. I'm hoping a few bi-lingual players read this forum and might be willing to help. Translators will be credited in the changelog and added as official project members on request.

My wishlist is below, along with which languages are needed for each.

No programming knowledge is required - you just need knowledge of English and fluency in the target language (ideally as used in-game), and the self-explanatory websites linked above handle the rest.

I see. So in summary, you're asking for a better project description? How about I copy paste what I said in this thread (mainly because I'm not sure how to explain it better than I did here :D). Would that be good? Or something else?

That works. I had seen your project before you posted this thread, and I didn't really understand the implications for users until I saw this thread. I didn't understand it could also work equally well as a stand-alone mod until I opened up the code.

I did NOT argue against it being a library. Clearly that's a powerful way to push it out to many users quickly and without their knowledge. My point is that it ALSO works perfectly well as a stand-alone addon, and it wouldn't hurt to mention that on the project description. The project description is currently so cryptic that an end user has no prayer of discovering that fact from the page alone.

There are plenty of advanced users who don't run Chatter or Prat but might still be affected by the issue via other addons, whose authors might not ever learn or care about your library (educating the author community is also a large and slow process). Why not let those users benefit as well?

This is good work - however you may want to consider adjusting your distribution approach.

If I understand correctly, this is a piece of code that fixes a bug in the base UI which can lead to taint when addons use certain well-established API functions. This "library" has no addon interface whatsoever, and simply needs to be loaded once to patch the base UI and globally prevent the problem. Packaging it with addons that happen to use those functions saves users from having to know about the problem, but this is just a convenience - knowledgable users could just as easily download this as a stand-alone "fix" mod. The latter approach restricts the fix to the "select" group of users affected by the problem (ie those using multiple chat tabs). As an addon dev, I find it simpler to direct the small group of affected users to a "fix" mod than to embed a library in every addon that might ever encounter the bug (and then remove it again once Blizzard corrects the problem).

With your permission I'll add this to the list of "Blizzard Bug Fix Addons" that I maintain on several sites. However I recommend you adjust your project description to also make sense for end users - eg clarify which users are affected by the problem, show some example taint errors that it fixes and mention that it can be installed as a stand-alone bug fix.

    Great info!

Is there a guide or organized list somewhere of "best practices" for avoiding common sources of taint in addon dev? (ie what *else* are addons commonly doing wrong)

I haven't tested your new build, but one extremely annoying trait was the tool bar with the dots and spade kept resetting position back to default whenever I turned off AH via Addon Control Panel.

This issue is already fixed in the current release.

The upcoming 1.1 release also includes lots of improvements for showing/hiding the frames, so you shouldn't need to disable the addon when you're not surveying.

Archaeology Helper accelerates your surveying by providing triangulation on a HUD

    • Draws HUD with GatherMate2 pins, you can use minimap zoom on it if needed
    • After Survey you press green, yellow or red button to add new sector to the HUD
    • Shows Dig Sites on Battlefield Minimap
    • Keybindings and various settings
    Usage:

Go to dig site, Right Click last button (spade) to show HUD and Left Click to cast Survay. Then ROTATE YOUR CHAR, BUT DON'T MOVE in the needed direction and press colored button according to Survey result. Move to other location, do same again.
It is strongly recommended to use GatherMate2 then you'll see all previous or imported dig-points on the HUD. When using GatherMate2 jump onto fragment before gathering! GatherMate2 data accuracy depends on that.

    Heads-up Display (HUD)

On the HUD you can also see player arrow in the center and very small red circle that represents survey success range. And ofc all colored transparent overlapping areas that were set by you with colored buttons.

posted a message on Paste - Unlimited-length multi-line clipboard pasting!
Paste is a small utility that enables multi-line/unlimited-length pasting of text or commands into WoW

If you've ever tried to paste a paragraph of text or a list of slash commands into WoW you've probably noticed that newlines are stripped and anything over 255 characters is silently truncated. The Paste addon solves this problem.

    Usage:

    • Open the Paste window via minimap icon, keybind, LDB or ///paste//
    • Paste your clipboard text into the box with //control-v / command-v//
    • Press the "Paste" button and the entire contents will be sent to your selected channel, one message per line, with long lines automatically split.
    • The "Default" channel can be used to execute a list of slash commands (eg TomTom /way commands)

Fully compatible with WoW 5.x and all chat addons.

Ok - for what it's worth I've added LetMeAccept to the list above temporarily, until MoP goes live. I won't worry about how to add a wowinterface-only addon to the Curse Addon Pack, since it won't be sticking around long :)

Got a reference on this by chance? The only patch notes I can find for 16048 are very high-level and don't mention bugs fixed.

OK - the list and addon pack are now up-to-date for 5.0.4, to the best of my knowledge. Doubtless there will be more updates to come as people discover new bugs and workarounds for them.

I just found this addon, might be worth to include:
    http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info21530-LetMeAccept.html

I've never experienced this bug myself (on any version of WoW), so I'd like confirmation from at least one or two users that this bug exists in 5.x and is fixed by the addon, before I add it to my recommended list.
