    Okay, so now I get to ask a stupid, stupid question - how do I get at the SVN? The info on the old.wowace.com wiki doesn't seem to work, and I can't find any other info on logins for read-only access.

    Okay, that's a start - but the standalone Ace3 download doesn't seem to have this folder, and neither do any of the downloads I can find. Is there some mystical place I need to look for this? I've grabbed the latest beta from Curse.com.

    Okay... So.. uhm.. Where's the docs for AceGui-3.0, then? There's no wiki entry for it. Now, while I can dig through the source code, it's not exactly the easiest way to figure out what something is doing.

    I guess that comes down to my main complaint about using this framework - the documentation is sparse at best, and often seems outdated due to the WowAce -> Curse changeover.

    One addon that I saw do basically what I'm wanting to do in terms of drag/drop is OPie. It's not Ace, though - so I'm going to dig through the code and figure out what he's doing.

    I do find it interesting how my idea has morphed a bit, though, as I find out more of what I can do.. :D

    Okay, so my pet addon is coming along nicely - detects mounting/dismounting, all that fun stuff.

    Now, I'm trying to set up for pet "groups" - the player can set their own group, like "cats", put all their cat pets into it, and have it choose a pet at random from the group.

    I've even figured out how to figure out what pet is on the cursor, and how to check it when a button's clicked:

    local companionID, companionType
    hooksecurefunc("PickupCompanion", function(id, type)
        companionID, companionType = id, type;
    end);

    But that's kind of clunky, and what I'd really like, is to be able to drag pet icons into a box and out of it to add them the list. Is there a library for doing this in Ace3?

    hmm. Combining what both of you said may do the trick. on UNIT_AURA, check IsMounted(). If I am, set a var. If I'm not, and the var is set, clear the var, and do my dismount stuff.

    Thanks!

    So, I'm happily coding along, and I realize that I have no way of detecting if a player dismounts. I can hook into the UNIT_AURA event, and filter it down to player - but I'm not sure where to go from there. I found SpecialEvent-Mount-2.0, but that's for Ace2, and I'm using Ace3.

    Is there an Ace3 version? I can't find one anywhere.

    Alternately, is there a way to scan the tooltips of buffs for "Increases flight speed by" and "Increases speed by"? I'd think an on-demand scan would be best.

    It's basically a workaround - I just put a text area in that shows the currently selected item's name - which serves double purpose, as it makes it easier to add new items in.

    Well, it's a non-issue now - I just worked around it. :)

    Okay, one last problem - I can't get the select (it's not a MultiSelect - just a type="select") to show the current selection. I'm not sure what it's wanting as a return value - I've tried setting it to the key that's selected, but that doesn't work.

    Okay, I'm writing an addon for non-combat pets. Now, the problem I'm having is with using the select type.

    here's what I'm doing: I have a select field, and can populate it. I can get the value in the function, but it won't update the dropdown (it remains blank and unselected although the function fires).

    secondly, I want to load values into an input field - I don't see any way of doing this - I can access the field via info.options.args.macro.args.themessage - which lets me get the name, for example, but not set the value.

    ideally, I want to pick an item from the dropdown, and using the key from the dropdown, update the text field so they can edit it.

    I can post code, if desired.

    posted a message on Addon Idea: Hunter Tracking Filter
    So, I'm not sure if it's even possible, but having a way to filter out all the dots on the map while tracking things as a hunter.

    Basically, the idea is this - Say I've got Humanoid tracking on, and I want to only see Sunfury Archers - so there's a minimap icon that I can click, enter a filter, and it only shows dots that match it.

    Is that possible? Does it exist?

    Align is all well and good, but it's nowhere near precise enough. Dragging and dropping results in numbers like 63.123124142, 65.23123123 and so forth, when I want it at 64. Currently, I'm editing the saved variables file, and reloading the changes. Works okay, but I have to log out, save changes, log in.

    So, is there a way, through slash commands, to move pitbull frames around with precision? I don't like the Drag/Drop method, because I have a hell of a time getting things to line up. I'm a perfectionist. :D

    I'd really like to see X / Y entries for the frames in the menus, but I can live with moving them via slash commands.
