    Quote from cargier
I'm getting ready to release a beta of a new addon which I am calling Master Loot. Instead of using EPGP, it provides information about weighted stat scores by player so everyone can see "how big of an upgrade" the item is compared to each player's currently equipped gear. The next version I release is going to support functions like requests for loot rolls, but maybe what I have now would be somewhat helpful. It correctly recognizes the reforged properties of both equipped gear and loot drops (heroic, mythic, warforged) AND it automatically translates between intellect, agility, and strength as appropriate for the target player's spec.

    The project is posted.

    Can't wait.

Its still there, you can enable the ChatTabs module whenever you like.

No, you can't. Enabling the module and either reloading or restarting WoW simply disables it again.

Make sure wow is allowed to write to the location where you have the saved variables folder.

This is not uncommon as an issue on vista/win7 computers where WoW has been installed in the default "programs" folder. The so-called security system won't allow wow to make changes to files in the "protected" programs folder unless ran as administrator.

Easiest fix is to move wow away from the programs folder. No need to reinstall, just create a folder for instance c/games/world of warcraft and move the contents of your wow folder there (and redo shortcuts).

Thanx Kerecha, but I am on a Mac, and I checked the permissions. It does appear to be the same problem PC users experience when there is a permissions problem, though.

    Incredibly great addon.

To the subject of tanking weights:

There is none. I dare anyone to find any. And I don't mean your personal weights, I mean from any sort of reliable source, which is the basis of this addon currently.
It is not just complicated to 'take into account' the myriad of tank playstyles, categories of tanksets, and individual fight dynamics...its quite impossible.

For DPS, you are gearing towards one thing - damage. And even inside that there is alot of variation when you take into account personal taste. Even still, doing damage is still the A #1 priority.

There is no way to quantify that for tanking, because different people aim towards different things, and those things expand out into more different things depending on external influences such as specific boss encounters.

So unless Tyler wants to input a gahillion more buttons, tabs, and text fields into RhadaTips options, and create/import up to five times the amount of information that the addon already has, and then start dealing with the crazies who will criticize the addon for not being accurate for their style of tanking (which they believe is the ONLY way), I don't believe this will, nor needs to happen.

Hey, you're the one who threw in the backhanded "if it's too hard" remark. If you can't handle getting called on your snarky tone, don't use it in the first place.

I'm still looking for what you're talking about. i don't make "backhanded" remarks to ANYONE who doesn't deserve - meaning not this time either.

I seriously doubt it's an issue of it being something Xinhuan "can't do" or that it's "too big a job". Look at how many addons Xinhuan already maintains and develops. Look at how many commits he makes to those addons every day. Look at how much time he spends on the forums assisting users and discussing with other developers. Now add on the time required to lead a high-end raiding guild, be a successful final-year university student, and sleep occasionally. Now maybe you'll understand why he isn't falling all over himself to accommodate your request by writing a new addon or rewriting an existing addon. :P

Rereading the thread may have it make more sense to you and show you that your post wasn't on point. If it doesn't, I'll explain.

I seriously doubt that even if I was somehow attacking Xin, that he couldn't defend himself or simply choose not to answer.

    Quote from Xinhuan »

The original intent of Routes was never to allow user defined routes, nor even allow defined starting/ending points. These require major code changes that would probably take months to implement for backwards compatibility, months I don't have. Routes only does complete circuit routes that always go back to the "starting point" in a loop so there isn't really any starting/ending point.

If you need an addon to plot the best way to do some daily quests, you've got bigger problems.

I guess thats a smartass remark about not knowing how to do dailies..but anyway I'll ignore and go on.

I don't understand why a user defined route is so hard because you yourself didn't seem to have a problem with it. I alrady SAID that the route DOES NOT have to be inter-zone. The way routes works now is fine except for one thing - users can't make their own nodes. Of course I don't know the ins and outs of this, but other authors (including yourself: "I can consider writing a module for HandyNotes. Then you can create your own notes in HandyNotes and choose which ones to connect the dots.") have said its possible. Routes already has the functionality (obviously) to connect nodes efficiently, so only thing I asked for was

    1. User able to create nodes. Which allows routes to do its job and connect the dots.
    2. Asked if a tooltip or something could be implemented to say where the next zone's starting node is. This feature isn't even NEEDED since the user can create this note themselves using HandyNotes if thats indeed what you hook into.

And i was ATTEMPTING to help the community by using one of the best addons to fulfill a request I see everywhere - a daily path.

    -------

Edit: Xin didn't realize you authored HandyNotes too - good job.
You mentioned HandyNotes as being the thing you would create a module for. If you could do this, would it be like using a 'Create Node Data From Notes' option from within HandyNotes, then an 'Import Node Data' from within Routes? If you can't do this or its too big a job, is it possible for me to go into a node data file that Routes has and change each entry? Like a manual convert of mining data into another data file, replacing coords and stuff?

Routes only can makes routes for things within the same zone. And I'm declining requests for inter zone routes.

No, just a little thought says this can still be done. This is a HUGE feature request IMHO. So many applicable uses for it.

If you are refusing to allow inter-zone routes then at least allow IN-zone routes. Player would then only need to know which node or node cluster to start at. For instance, a route starting in Shat to start daily quest would have the player picking up the 3 available inthe city, then a simple note or tooltip (or barring that just knowledge) to go to Terokkar forest Blackwing landing and begin THAT zone's route. Wouldn't need to have to program complicated inter-zone code, just a simple tooltip at the last node of each zone's route that says where to go next, which player's themselves could easily place.
