As said above, it is still beta. Using it right now, looks very decent, but I miss my GMail plugin from firefox :<

It'll be in beta for three or four more years :). It's alright. I don't like not having a sidebar for my bookmarks(or I missed it completely). No AdBlock as others have mentioned is a negative.

That's nice, Soulsbane, but obviously you fail at reading comprehension or were too lazy read the rest of my post where I explained my position. I'm not an idiot. I understand what the registry was designed for. That understanding does not translate into liking the system or wanting more programs to use it. Thanks for the condescending lecture, though.

I'm tempted to use some language here but I won't. I don't see how I'm being condescending at all. But thanks for being an ass all the same(since you decided to insult me even though I didn't insult you). It's not about YOUR position or YOUR programs don't use the registry. It's about about the excepted practices Windows Application Programming and using the registry is the accepted way. How that is condescending I still can't quite understand. I've noticed that you seem to read wayyyy too much into posts and go on the defensive. I'm sorry if I offended you as I didn't mean to. I was just pointing out the reasoning behind using the registry. *Sigh* this is why I don't post on forums much. /end of thread for me.

Actually it's NOT "how you store settings in Windows". As described in my post, very very few of the programs on my computer use the registry to store settings, and the ones that do are massive complex applications like Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop. However, I see you've already set the tone for the rest of your response...

Actually Phanx it is. The whole reason that the registry system was put into windows in the first place was to move developers away from using ini files to store settings. If you read some of the blog posts from the prominent windows devs you will see that this is in fact the case. For example Raymond Chen http://blogs.msdn.com/oldnewthing/archive/2007/11/26/6523907.aspx has written about it before and lists many reasons why the registry was put into place. At the company I work for we the use the registry for all our application settings.

Ok, I got a chance to take some screenshots. The first one is the problem I noted in the above post. The second is something I noticed while testing on my warlock. Basically mount and unmounting will cause the stacking that's show in the screenshot. I had my duration set high while I was configuring it so this problem really isn't a huge deal since I've lowered my max duration and that aura is no longer tracked. I'm tired so I hope that made sense :)

Also, the problem that I was having on my shaman does not happen with my warlock. Thinking back I don't think I tried to use bandages on my shaman to see if the problem still arises. I'll check that out if you need me to.

    Thanks again!!!

First, I really liking this addon. You've definitely put a lot of thought into its design. The only problem I'm having is the header bar showing incorrect health. I don't think anyone else has mentioned it yet. Sorry if I missed it. Only seems to happen on my shaman that I can tell. Or it just might be more obvious as my main is a lock :). Say my shaman is down to 75% health and I heal. The bar will still display 75% even though I'm at full health. I haven't tested with the revisions you made today as I haven't had a chance to get on(trying after I type this up). I'll also keep a closer watch on my warlock and see if I get similar results.

Again, thanks a lot for this wonderful addon!

Are you just wanting to display something all the time or on special events? If this text display will be optional you could always use LibSink-2.0 which outputs your text to whatever combat text addon you have installed(MSBT, SCT, WoW default etc). I've used it with great success in a couple of my addons.

posted a message on Looking for an action bar with the following features
    Quote from nailer »

I am looking for an action bar addon that is not limited by the 120 action slots, can handle most states (stances, modifier keys, combat, unit exists, harmful/help...), and does range coloring by target unit (say not only target=target but target=focus too). Flexbar and Infinibar lacks the range coloring feature, Trinity can handle all of these but is bugged, and all the rest i know of is limited by the standard 120 action slots. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

What exactly is bugged in Trinity? I've used it for a long time and never had a problem.

One thing is for sure. Lua reads comments faster than programmers do. :P

LOL or at all. At least where I work. I'll document something in code and yet other programmers come to ask about something that I had already documented in the code :)

What exactly are you wanting to create? You might check out LibDataBroker as it's the future in my opinion. Depends on what your wanting to do though. Search these forums for info on it.

ouf_lily is the basic template if you want to call it that. Otherwise, you just look at the other layouts available here and on wowinterface. If you know Lua it shouldn't be hard to create one.

    Embedded Library Notes:
ShieldsUp currently uses AceConfig-3.0 and AceGUI-3.0 to provide a GUI configuration. However, I am not satisfied with the large size of these libraries as compared to the small size of my addon code for distribution purposes, and may or may not continue to use these libraries for GUI configuration, if I can find a smaller solution that doesn't significantly increase my effort to implement and maintain.

I haven't looked at your code to see how big your config is but you might check out tekkonfig by tekkub of course. I wrote a small Auction House addon and am using tekkonfig in it. It can be found on github.com/tekkub

http://www.wowprogramming.com/docs also has WoW API documentation. It seems more complete than what's on wowwiki. Could just be me though.
