Feb 1, 2008Thanks for all the feedback. I realize the interface is a bit tedious to deal with right now. The next release will sport something less annoying.Posted in: General AddOns

Any chance for an option to only restock when you're a certain faction level (ie: exalted for the 20% discount)?
This is already a feature of Reagent Restocker. Look inside the Buying Options.

Diabolique's suggestion should work. Just add the item you want to always throw in the bank to your Shopping List and set its value to 0 (actually, you don't have to set anything since 0 is the default). When you visit the bank, all but 0 of that item (i.e., all of that item) in your bags will get placed in the bank.

I completely agree with you that a lot of the code is a mess. My problem is that I get excited about two things: adding features and releasing a new version. Consequently, when faced with the options "add that feature I've been thinking about and publish it" or "clean up code," I have difficulty choosing the latter. From the getgo, I did not plan out anything about this addon - since it was simply an experiment to learn about the WoW API - so instead of planning and building, it's been more like heaping code onto an already existent pile of it. :)
Finishing [normal] bank support put me at a point now where I am now pretty happy with the feature set, so my next step will probably be to bleach the code.
Tonedef (& tekkub),
Believe me: I've been annoyed with the name Reagent Restocker for some time. Shortly after I named the addon, I decided I wanted it to automate all the item- and money-exchanging transactions that your average player carries out relatively frequently. But I neglected to change the name at that time since I didn't want to confuse the four people using it.
My plan was to rename when I push it out of beta. I was thinking 'Fence,' but a lot of your suggestions make sense, too.

Thank you for the links; I'll read through them.
When I started writing Reagent Restocker (and introducing myself to addon-building in general), I wasn't aware of FreeRefills' existence. A friend, of whom I enlisted the help to test RR after some development, mentioned it to me, but she said its logic was extremely basic (for example, instead of "filling your tank," it would simply buy X of reagent Y every time you opened a vendor window), so I was not dissuaded from continuing development of Reagent Restocker: I had different goals in mind.
I've still not used FreeRefills, but looking at its feature list on WoWInterface, I would say RR differs from it in that: some people may find RR easier to use (via a GUI), RR supports selling items in addition to buying them, RR may handle bank transactions more elegantly (FreeRefills mentions bugs), and RR has a few other more subtle (though perhaps less sought-after) features like auto-repairing and merchant discount support.
Dec 31, 2007Reagent Restocker is a simple Ace2 addon. Its primary function is to automatically pull items from vendors or your bank - up to a quantity you specify - automatically, when you open a vendor or bank window. Additionally, it will assist you in selling items.Posted in: General AddOns
This addon is of particular use to:
- classes that use multiple reagents (Mages, Druids, etc.),
- characters like to have a stock of vials, flux, etc. on hand,
- characters that always like to keep stocked on items like potions in their bank, and
- characters that do a lot of farming.
Reagent Restocker began as a project to learn about WoW addons/LUA, and evolved in to what I found to be a handy tool.
It is currently in its beta. If people make use of it, I may deploy a formal release. I welcome any suggestions and feedback - especially bug reports!
I am not yet pushing builds to the SVN (in fact, I still need to figure out how to do that). In the meantime, you can grab a copy at WoWInterface.com or Curse.com.
I welcome any feedback, suggestions, and of course bug reports; feel free to post any such discussion here.
