    This might not be the best place to post this, but since Wowace and Curse are now forever intertwined, I figured I would ask here. What exactly is the deal with the Author Rewards Program? I read the FAQ and wound up with more questions than when I started.

    The FAQ mentions "any active author who signs up" is eligible. Where do I sign up? Do I actually have to sign up, or by being an author is that automatic?

    Also, although the algorithm is secret (for obvious reasons, we're all very smart people) is there a way to see how many points you've accumulated so far? Have points even been handed out at this point or is that still something for down the road.

    posted a message on Problem setting up AceDB defaults
    So I want to set up a few default values for a table (but not the entire table) that will be saved variables. The basic format I'm looking for is a bunch of cascading tables like so:

    self.db.global.BT[x].Name
    self.db.global.BT[x].Other_Stuff[y]
    I've been trying to set up the defaults using the following:

    local defaults = {
        profile = {
            Verbose = false,
            Condense = true,
        },
        global = {
            BT = {
                Name = "Some_Name",
            },
        },
    }
    I don't care about setting defaults for the 'Other_Stuff', just the 'Name'. I'm sure I'm setting this up all wrong, but I'm pretty clueless about it at the moment. Thanks for any help.

    I'm aware of how addon channels work, but thanks for the clarification.

    Bascially what I'm getting at is the following scenario: I had an addon 'A' that sends a message to the 'Raid' via the addon channel to addon 'B'. Will an instance of addon 'B' running on my client see the message generated from addon 'A' and be able to act upon that?

    If I read Orion's response correctly, is seems that it would but I just want to make sure. Thanks again for the help.

    I didn't realize the combat log provided both the GUID and the cleartext name. I looked around at wowwiki and did a quick search here but was wondering if anybody had a link to a really in-depth format spec of the combat log.

    I agree that I also found this useful. I don't really see a reason why there can't be an "aggro gain" bar, as we know what the threat is on the player with aggro, and can either multiply that by 110% or 130% to get that aggro limit.

    *I'm pretty sure those numbers are known fact and not assumptions, but I could be wrong. It's happened before.

    Right-click on Omen, select "Use Focus Target"

    I think that's the only place the option exists. I knew I saw it at one point, but it took me a while to find it again.

    UnitClass() does work with a character name, provided that unit is in your raid/party, otherwise it returns nil.

    What I was thinking was a library that would perform a /who console command, check the list for an exact match and then return the localClass/engClass.

    If it won't work, that fine, but I figured I would ask before I gave up on the idea.

    I'm looking for a way to get the class for a player given an exact character name, regardless of whether they're in your raid/party. Does anybody know of a library that will accomplish that?

    Ideally I'd like it to return the localized name and the english name the way UnitClass() does for players in your raid/party.
