Before I found Prat I had been using Cirk's ChatManager to keep my channels on the same number. From what I understand, ChatManager didn't actually renumber them, but instead just displayed the channels on the number I picked, and translated /4 to whatever number was -really- held by that channel. Is there a Prat module that can do this?
I know the ChannelReordering module is supposed to do something like this, but whenever I log in, I end up having to resort them, so everyone in my raid group is treated to me joining, leaving, and then re-joining 6 channels.
Is that a bug? Should the channels remain where they were after sorting when I last logged out? If not, anyone have any suggestions on how to accomplish this without ChatManager or more macros?
The ChannelReordering module is what recreates the functionality of Chatmanager for that. If you check Sort On Load then it does it automatically when you login. Yes, it does actually perform a leave/join if necessary to get the numbers where they belong.
I was one of the people who got Cirk's Chatmanager (esp the channel numbering portion) working again in WoW 2.0 so I have an idea of what is required to do it the Chatmanager way, and I did consider the feasibility of using that method for Prat. Chatmanager literally has to hook EVERYTHING related to chat/channels/windows in order to keep up the illusion of channels being on a different number than they really are. Even if it were possible to do it that way in Prat, the way Prat does it now is a much simpler, cleaner process with the only "downside" being that on startup other people might see you join/leave/join a channel. It is on my list to take a look at making that leave/join process at startup go away though :-)
