As much as I love Pitbull (especially in its current incarnation) the Dogtag overhead is still crippling. Bless you guys for adding the option of an alternative label provider! It takes a big man to kill a darling.
IS there a viable alternative available though? I know it's early doors yet, but any searches are turning up cold.
Kerecha, you can achieve exactly what you're looking for with most unitframes addons (I use pitbull just for that reason (see the "you" bar in the "cleanCurves" screenshot))
IceHUD is a tremendous HUD, but by its very nature it's not a unit frames suite. I'm pretty sure most people wouldn't want their favourite HUD becoming bloated in that way.
There's a good choice of HUD addons, there's a wide choice of unit frames addons, and similarly a wide choice of action bar addons. People can mix and match that way :)
the "not used to" part [..SNIP..] (i have bar background of and that makes the caps look very malplaced ).
(I have only checked its look on the rounded bars sofar, might look better on the new glow ones.)
⢠unfortunately, not at this point. The background draw mode defaults to "Blend", rather than "Additive" as used on the glow bars. Turning the alpha to zero on the lag indicator as Parnic suggested should give you the "feel" you're looking for though (I know what you mean.. I do the same for threat)
A side note for the new "Additive" draw mode: Additive bars have a much lower cost for drawing on the screen than blend mode. It's more or less free, actually, for the purposes of framerate draw (which is why blizzard use it for the full screen and screen border effects).
Love the glowarc, just wish the were sligtly more rounded.
They're a lot more customiseable than you might realise :) IceHud has so many sliders for tweaking.
For enhancing the curvature of any bar in IceHUD, the Bar Height and Bar Width (vs scale) can all be tweaked in [Bar Settings].
The curvature can then even counter-tweaked in individual [Module Settings] via the Bar Width Modifier slider in each module.
Believe me, you can actually create a spiral should you so wish!
⢠the color isn't too dark if you've got "additive" checked.
⢠if it's a textured bar (like the bloodglaives background) then white is the default colour for "as the artist drew it". Any other color is to allow you to colorise it
I plan on releasing a version soon, I just got some polishing up to do first. I guess maybe within a week I will have something I would call beta 1.0? However, WAU will stop working in around 4 weeks because of wowace future plans, so what Stan is saying is somewhat right :P
Don't you know that it's cruel to tease ?
Really, really looking forward to the new version :)
Ahh thank you Grita. Such a pity, but I guess at least it'll stop me wasting my time(!)
I've been trying to decipher the Aloft Lua's (on and off) for a couple of days to see if it's feasable. No luck of course, as my talent for addon coding is dire to say the least. I picked up the WoW addon programming book more or less just for this reason.
I guess it also accounts for why there are no alternatives. He's pulled off an amazing addon that only really has two shortcomings for me. (The inability to call DogTags, and the inability to set click-through*)
Thank you though Grita, it's good to know. Believe me I did read the entire thread, but I don't know how I missed this.
:)
*I have my Aloft plates set to transparent apart from the name text. It's murder trying to click on auctioneers/NPC's as the mouse always gets snagged on an invisible part of a nameplate.
And to me it just seems that is would compliment the Dogtag suite (we already have unit frames and tooltips using DogTags).
I must confess I find AloftTags fairly limited, yet still confusing (probably just used to DogTags too much now). While the RTF lists the Tags and conditionals, it's not providing much by way of example.
I'm absolutely loving playing qwith IceHUD, and these days it's solid as a rock. Superb job, and thank you for sharing it with the world.
Is there any chance we'll ever see a Threat bar added ? Omen used to allow bars to be dragged off as a HUD prior to 2.4, but either I've missed it or the function has been removed. Either way, IceHUD would go from brilliant to perfect (IMO ;) ) with the addition of a (target vs focus) threat bar.

I only noticed last night as I was hopping prematurely to the next mob.
Also, the colour of the background was pre-tinted towards blue (my preference).. Both fully fixed now for the next release.
Sorry Parnic, my bad.

As Parnic says, absolutely :)
If you have any problems seeing any bar, check

I've emailed you a couple of new bar graphics if you wish to include them:
CleanCurves:
Very practical in raid scenarios where there's a huge amount of in-your-face spells
GlowArc:
My current favourite (and thank you SO much for adding the "Additive" draw mode)
BloodGlaives:
Not so practical at all, but just for fun ;)

Hello,
Long time avid fan of Pitbull here. I just have a quick question as to whether it's possible to switch profiles via a slash command?
ie. /pitbull profile RogueRaid2

..OKAY so I'm just a DogTag whore/CkKnight fanboy

I'm a complete beginner at addon coding and was hoping to do this myself, but instantly found the code daunting.

Fair call :) And thank you for the link.
Unfortunately it no longer works since 2.4 / Threat2.0
It doesn't help that my inability to rewrite eve the simplest of lua's is plain embarrassing. God knows I've tried. /cry, at least I tried
