i skimmed this thread, but if i understand, you're running into a problem trying to register inside the event being called. blizz changed the registry system a while back to delay unregistering until after the event handler had exited, but they seemed to simply disable the ability to add a new registration while inside an event handler.
so if you have an addon responding to an ADDON_LOADED event and it manually loads an addon that registers an ADDON_LOADED event handler, that second addon will never see the event because its handler was never actually registered due to the ADDON_LOADED event being active at the time the register function was called.
presumably, this is true for other events. unless they've fixed it, anyways... it was a while ago.

Sep 3, 2011Posted in: General AddOnsQuote from KippGI love the idea of this addon but I don't understand the total estimated purchase cost and where that value comes from. I find it is usually wrong. Maybe I just don't understand what is going on. Right now I am looking at the only Inferno Ruby for sale for 158g and LSW is showing 129g estimated price. That does not help me. So I guess I'm dumb but I just don't get it. Any assistance would be great. Thanks.
lsw relies on whatever auction mod you have to feed it info. if you right-click the cost column, you can adjust what pricing module is being used and maybe find something that's more to your liking. you might try "min buyout" if you're looking for current ah prices. that'll use the current scan data and pick the lowest buyout price for the item listed.
Sep 3, 2011Posted in: General AddOnsQuote from evoThanks for a great addon, is there anyway I can use pricing from TheUndermineJournal? I have tried creating the file per randomgrace's instructions on the comments of the project page, but I still only get pricing from Auctionator. I would really appreciate any help on getting this to work :)
A simple interface to 'averageprice' out of The Undermine Journal's 'TheUndermineJournal' addon (put into the file pricingSupport/tuj_support.lua):
local function AuctionPrice(itemID)
local function Init()
LSW:RegisterAlgorithm("TUJ Average", AuctionPrice)
local function Test(index)
if TUJMarketInfo then
LSW:RegisterPricingSupport("TUJ", Test, Init)
did you add that new file to the .toc file for lsw? or for that matter, it could be a totally different mod.
Aug 13, 2011i figure you make groups with the people you want, then do simple "g1 farm, g2 lm, g3 bs"Posted in: Addon Ideas
i suppose then people need to know what group they're in, but if they can't figure that out, maybe rated bg's aren't for them.
Aug 2, 2011i have no idea why it's taken so long for somebody to write this. i wish i was still actively playing...Posted in: General AddOns
might be nice to parse the combat log and associate heals/damage with targets. perhaps identify healers who are healing your target. or healers who are healing flag carriers...
Jul 21, 2011there is (or maybe was?) an error in the texture coordinates generated by the backdrop code. textures failed to lock properly and got smeared as a resizable frame was made small. i reported the bug and they said, in essence, that they didn't intend the backdrop system to be used that way so it probably wouldn't be fixed.Posted in: Lua Code Discussion
from that, i'm pretty much figuring that unless the standard interface reveals the bug, it probably won't be addressed. i have gone back and forth on gnomeworks regarding this issue. do i have the nice per-pixel clipping or do i want textures that don't chatter/bounce. i've been sort of just hopping maybe something will get fixed by accident and all will be well...
Jul 20, 2011there was talk of blizz removing support for backdrops in 4.0 i think. they haven't yet, clearly, but there is a lib (libbackdrop-1.0) which simulates the functionality (and adds a bit more). you could try using it instead.Posted in: Lua Code Discussion
Jul 20, 2011i have the same problem in gnomeworks. the clipping code for a scrollframe somehow bounces textures around a bit. without clipping, everything is fine. if i grow the parent frame which grows the clipping region, everything stays in the same place but textures bounce up and down so it's not even a matter of things moving to different pixel locations or anything like that.Posted in: Lua Code Discussion
not sure what is doing it, but it's definitely in the blizz code. there might be ways around it or techniques to help avoid it, but i've just ignored it even tho i drives me crazy.
edit: not sure this is the exact same problem you're running into, tho.
Jun 13, 2011Posted in: General AddOnsQuote from jrodman2Hmm, now it doesn't show the type indicator at all, which is better, I guess, though I liked the indicators.
really? lemme make sure lsw knows about the new glyph names... i know they work in gnomeworks so the code exists, but maybe i didn't put it into lsw...
May 23, 2011the problem with this kind of library is that even if you could sort out the saved var issues, the question becomes what sort of data do you store? bag mods might need a ton more info like item strings per slot, inventory container types, etc. but other mods might only care about whether you have a particular itemid on hand or perhaps how many of a particular itemid you have.Posted in: Lua Code Discussion
Apr 20, 2011at the moment, you can individually blacklist items. i do want to add the ability to blacklist entire tradeskills so that de'ing or prospecting or vendors or whatever else could be blacklist en masse.Posted in: General AddOns
what you can do in the meantime is select an enchant, then right-click on any craftable reagent. that will produce a list of recipes that you can use to craft that item. hold shift and right click each recipe you wish to black list. (i think that's the correct method, it's been a while.)

Mar 4, 2011Posted in: Addon IdeasQuote from gamemaster128Using one's short-term memory can also be beneficial in this situation. It's not hard to see who is healing once you get into combat and that information can be used for future confrontations in that battleground.
I would imagine that this is why such an addon doesn't already exist. It really just isn't needed.
remembering who is healing and then selecting them are two different operations. i think it would be very beneficial to indicate who is top heals in a bg and provide a button to target that person.
an added feature would be to have it highlight those healers who are healing your target/focus (which should be available from the combat log, right?).
