along the lines of plugin development, i know you're planning on doing sorting. it would be swell to work out a system to register sorting routines in some fashion. for example, if lilsparky's workshop could plug into the sorting mechanism to allow sorting by reagent cost (or profit or whatever). other addons could do sorting by rep requirements for purchase or whatever might come up.

yay. nogudnik and i have been in contact to make sure lilsparky's workshop plays nicely with skillet. there've been some reports of issues that i'm investigating with his help.

turns out i was developing with an older version of skillet. the resizable window change (or more expicitly, the dynamic buttons) made lsw cry. should be all fixed now -- assuming you have the same version of skillet that i do!

at least, i think the unit frame would be the place to put it...

it would be cool if there was an indicator that a target will be dead by the next tick or won't survive the current level of dot's on it and maybe even provide an estimated time of death. obviously something could intervene to change that, but ignoring that, you could blast something and see it's going to die soon, so you could either move on to the next target or save your mana and let your dots do the work.

It is possible, it's just a bit of pain. The Blizzard call to actually create the oil is DoCraft() and that does not allow you to specify any repeats, so I'd have to handle the repeat code myself. Not a huge problem, but a bit annoying.

The other problem is detecting whether or not it is an enchant or an oil. I'm not sure how to do that except by checking the name and that means it has to be localized to all sorts of languages. Again, not impossible (or even hard) just a pain.

Let me ponder this for a bit and see of I can come up with a way to do this that will not be an impossible to maintain hack.

actually, it's really easy to figure out. do a GetItemInfo() on the skill link and if you get a valid return, the skill makes an item. if it's nil, then it's an enchant (or something else perhaps).

posted a message on deucelog not recording wins
i'm using deucelog and it records losses just fine, but not wins.

i get a chat message saying i was killed by some duecebag, but never that i killed a deucebag. the score thing shows all my deaths, but never any victories.

using the latest version. could it be something is intercepting the death messages? i have honorfu installed which seems have no problem tracking my kills.

Raid frames and the like are able to do the click-targeting through secure templates provided by Blizzard. There are secure templates for party, raid, etc. but I doubt Blizzard will be adding one for "enemies healing my target" anytime soon.

not to beat a dead horse or fill this thread with junk, but would it be possible to predefine targeting macros and associate them with unused actionbuttons and then call those thru secure connections? then it would be a matter of positioning the action button on the screen and activating/deactivating it as appropriate (and adding other information so you know who it is you'd be targeting and why).

the mod would need to periodically update the macros to make sure they were accurate and it could do this out of combat.

so i don't really raid at the moment, but i do lots of bgs. i find the raid interface is overkill for me, however i would like to mimic the standard interface which shows the people in your group. is there a way to do this? the raid groups are all by number. seems like there should be switch somewhere that uses party for raid (i do see convert 5-man raid to party, but that's not exactly the same). what would be ideal, but perhaps not doable, is to switch between people in your group vs people that are simply near you (selectable number of players maybe up to 10 or something).

rats. i see they removed the generic targeting function and the ability to create macros on the fly.

This would only work out of combat, it's functionality that Blizzard removed in patch 2.0. What would work in combat is displaying the information (if it exists in combat log), but you'd have to select the healer yourself.

Since you'd have to manually select the healer anyway, it might be possible to display in SCT with custom events.

aww. :( how do raid interfaces work then? if you're in combat and notice a friend is being injured, how do you click on a raid button to cast a heal? does it only allow switching targets (or focus) if you're switching to a friendly unit?

here's another thought -- priority targets. a seperate target frame (or set of target frames?) the only show up under certain selectable cases. ideally, there'd be a slash command or hotkey to quickly select these targets.

priority targets would be things like enemies casting polymorph or fear on you, enemies healing your target, enemies casting certain "high damage" spells (pyroblast, for example), allies reaching low health, flag carriers coming into range (either enemy or friendly if you are a healer), etc.

so you're in combat and somebody starts casting fear, so you pop your cs macro which includes the target change command and put an end to that. or everybody's pounding the enemy fc and a healer starts casting a heal, so you disengage the holder and deal with the healer (kick, cs, sheep, scattershot, silencing shot, etc).

this is the first time i'm using a unit frame mod so maybe this is applicable and maybe it's not...

i think it'd be great if enemy heals were indicated on your current target. i believe that information is available from the combat log, but maybe it's not. if it is, it seems like it wouldn't be too hard to line-up simple, selectable icons of recent healers associated with your current target. you and associates pound on a tank and he just doesn't die, so you click over to the guy healing him and deal with him first. a 2ndary feature might be to remove these enemy healers once a friendly targets engages them (by damaging or incapacitating them) so you don't all click over to the healer.

another thought i had was an indicator for when your target has a fear or polymorph (or whatever other incapacitating spell) being cast on them. people will often unsheep enemies because they began casting before the enemy was sheeped. if they knew a sheep was in progress, they could select a new target before beginning their spell cast. a noise might be the best way to indicate this.
