posted a message on Prat 2.0 Chat Mod Framework (Official Thread)
    Topic: Insonsistent use of profiles.

What version of Prat are you using?
I run my wowace updated every day... right now it says: "2.0 65876" in the
    /prat about.

Do you use embedded libraries or standalones?
    Embedded.

    What language/realm type?
    English/normal.

What steps will reproduce the problem?
    1. Set up an alias (ex: "/c /4") and a channel-ordering (ex: "4: myclanchat") on one character.
    2. Log onto an alt.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expected output: Either the alt and the original character share neither
    aliases nor channels, or both.

When on the alt, the alias is still active, but the channel-ordering is
not. The channel ordering is forcing itself to character specific.

    The problem:
I want "/c" to talk on my "clan" channel. My clan is a group of friends
who are in different guilds, have tons of alts some of them not in guilds
at all, etc. So I log on and make an alias "/c /3" and set the channel
ordering to put my clan channel on channel 3. Then I relog, and my clan
channel goes to 4 for some reason. I set it to 3, and that doesn't work.
So I set it to 5 (what it currently is), now my alias doesn't work. So I
change my alias. Then I log back onto my other character, and my alias is
now for 5, but the channel is set to 3.

Sure, with a lot of work and relogging and testing, I could get this to
work the way as I intend it to work, but it's an ugly work around. What
I'd like is to get to pick which type of data I use through the profile
system. So if I want each character to have separate options set in Prat,
I can change profiles and set them, but the "default" should be shared
    account-wide.

Just wanted to double-check: do you read the suggestions/bugs on the Google Code page? I noticed that almost all of them say "New" and wanted to know if I should post there or somewhere else?

    Quote from Pastamancer »

I just started poking at it, and it occurred to me that we could give duration, expires instead of duration, timeLeft. Thoughts?

I suppose that would be less overhead -- one calculation when updating instead of a calculation at every request for the information.

Don't you need "start time" and "duration" to set a cooldown timer, though? Or is there some new cooldown stuff that I'm unaware of? 'cause quite frankly, knowing duration and time left means I have to do a lot of extra steps to set a cooldown timer, and BLizz usually doesn't do that. They usually give you exactly what they needed to make their UI. :)

duration, expires makes more sense than duration, timeleft, for a local storage system, though. definitely.

Hey there. I'm wondering if there's plans to update Auras to include the new time left information?

I deleted all my buff-parsing code when I found Auras, and I'm not liking the prospect of re-writing it all, and since I use Grid and some other mods that use Auras, it'd be a waste of CPU/memory for me to loop through all the buffs again and store them all just for timing information.

Right now I'm just going to do the following, but having Auras updated would be nice and cleaner/etc., so I figured I'd check if there's plans for it.
     buffindex = Auras:UnitHasBuff("target", "Buff Name")
     _,_,_,_,duration,timeLeft = UnitBuff("target", buffindex)

Thanks for the reply, I guess then I'll have to find another mount manager add-on that is updated for TBC mounts and stuff. It's a shame, MountMe looked quite useful, not counting the above posted issues.

Are you dense or just very very slow?

Maybe he plays on an RP server, and *really* likes his Carrot on a Stick, for RP purposes. He has macros that say "Here's a carrot for you, Bessy!" whenever he mounts...

    Yeah. That's it.

posted a message on Baggins - Official Thread
    Request for visual "bug" fix:
I don't use "Optimize Section Layout."
I do use "Show Section Title."
I do use "Hide Empty Sections."

I have one bag with 10 sections, most of which are empty 90% of the time. (NR set, FR set, FrR set, etc)

However, with those settings I mentioned above, I get the bag separation space for all my sections, even though they are hidden and empty. So I end up with like 3 inches of vertical blank space in the bag, instead of a nice small bag like it should be...

Could you hide the category-spacer-space when the category is hidden without optimize on?

If there's a better place to post this, let me know.

i've changed all the patterns to allow for a negative sign in 1.31 and it appears to be working properly again in that version.

ooo, how do i get this mystical 1.31? :)

can you add support for PT 3.0?
maybe, had a quick look and PT3 so far seems to be mostly armour/weapon sets and AI only really needs trade goods, misc and reagent items categorised

everyone sorts different things :) I sort equipment types.

oh oh! I thought of another thing I'd love to see:
    Instead of sorting bars as
    [16][15][14]
    [13][12][11]
    ...

would it be possible to have an option to sort them more traditionally:
    [15][10][7]
    [14][9][6]
    [13][8][5]
    ...

so I don't see 3 rows if I have items only in 7 categories? A lot of my categories are actually rarely seen (ex: "shadow resist set"), and I'd like to have one column of bars under normal circumstances, but obviously, I can't do that when I have items in all 15 of my bars...

    Thanks!

can you make single item dragable in edit mode?
no, edit mode takes over the click functions so you can't drag, there is a keybinding to toggle edit mode, i have mine bound to shift+F12

This seems like it might be the same response I'll get to my new feature request, but I'll ask anyway:

I'd like a quick-and-easy way to move an item into another category. Right now, I have to turn on edit mode (which is annoying through the ui, but there's a keybinding I could set, so that's okay), right-click the item (which moved 'cause the UI changed shape and size with all the new edit mode stuff), then go through 3 tiers of menus to say "put it in the 'crap to sell on the AH' category instead of the 'new crap' category".

Maybe something like a drag-an-item-on-another-item-puts-the-first-item-in-the-second-items-category feature? Or a metakey item-specific edit mode? (so you hold down a meta key and click an item and it pops up that item-specific edit menu?) I kinda prefer the first idea, 'cause that's what I want to do. Quickly and easily move single items from one area of my bag to another. And I do it all the time, 'cause I find new items and want to sort 'em into vendor trash, AH trash, or stuff I want to keep...

Anyway. I have the feeling this isn't your style, but I can hope. You have by far the best bag addon around, and I can only hope it gets better (for me)... :)

would be really nice if you add possibility to sort each group seperatly, so e.g.

I mean that I have category1 for equipment and i want to sort it by bag\slot (cause it's easier to pick smth you need when you see all chests, all gloves etc.) and in another category2 i got consumables and i would like to sort them by name, cause sometimes when you raid (you usually have shitloads of potions\consums in you bags) and you want to find needed item fast.

So if it's possible the feature to sort every category seperatly would be perfect.

I'd second this. I have some groups I'd like sorted by name, some by type, and some by category (I made custom categories, and I'd like all the items in a few of them in the same general area, but sorted separately, which I can do, but then my other areas get sorted really weird and it's hard to find things 'cause they aren't alphabetically sorted :))

I remember you saying somewhere that you are trying to make the saved variables file smaller, but that you need all that information.
i was thinking about it but realised that it doesn't really matter, eg, auctioneer must have a huge saved variables file, all that matters was how much memory it takes to process the stuff, i'll get around to possibly shrinking it but it's very low priority

Auctioneer's unusable on low-end machines. It adds 10+ seconds to my loadup time, and drops my FPS by 30%. But sure, AI isn't causing that kinda problem (at least, not with only 2 characters worth of data...), so no biggie. :) Just thought I'd let you know what I've seen, in case you wanted to use it.

be careful on that, the blizzard buttons already have pre and post click code so you'd have to integrate that into them and make sure you dont destroy the original functionality.

it's why i haven't touched them, i wanted to keep everything simple

Odd, Slouken spoke about the PreClick and PostClick stuff as if it was specifically designed to provide a safe way to change what Blizzard does. As if they don't use it for anything.

Either way, you could hooksecurefunc on their PreClick code, and that should do whatever you want safely, right?

    posted a message on Grid
On the topic of additional text indicators:
I agree with the other healers, I'd LOVE to have 4 1 or 2 character text indicators in each corner, as additional information beyond the little lights. I'd like a "HoT count" for one, I'd love to see a "incoming heals" count... I also like to keep the person's name up all the time, so I separate your (Pastamancer) single-line name/hp/oor text into a name and a hp/oor ones on separate lines. THat, along with 2 numbers in the lower left and lower right corner, would be perfect for me.

In the documentation, there's a description (sort of :P) of how to add a new Status, but nothing about how to add a new Indicator. Perhaps that's some additiona documentation that could be written before the freeze ends? :)

    Another error in TourtistLib.

Last few times I tried to access the SVN it failed, and I couldn't figure out why, so here's the fix:

    Change line 1534 to
    		yards = 6549.780280774227,

Right nw, it says "width" which is the wrong name.
