posted a message on Proposal: LFG Tool
    Quote from robur2
Hey, I've used CTA for years. One of my all time favs, thanks for maintaining it so long!

    What I liked about it:

    - it monitored the LFG channel silently, reducing the chat spam VASTLY
    - it showed a number at the minimap, symbolizing how many people were LFG/LFM
    - it had a spam filter, so it would only display LF* that would contain one or two or more keywords, no gold sellers

I don't need a tool that puts me in a group - in fact, I never used the group functions of CTA. I always sent a tell to the people looking for a group.

For those functionalities I believe it's not necessary that the installed base has to be gigantic, am I correct?

Quoting because he's reading my mind. As a matter of fact the group functions should IMO be removed for a much smaller and less cumbersome CTA-light; most people i know that actually use(d) CTA used it for one reason: it would list the stuff they wanted to know (is anybody LFx?) without having to deal with all the stupid trade/general/lfg channel chitchat.

It's just so much easier not to use your own brain and instead whine/beg/complain until somebody helps you out and/or does stuff for you. Keyword: spoiled brat. Yes i am looking at you, my little sister ;)

(No offense intended to the original poster, just a general remark regarding the state of mind of the youth nowadays. Back then when i was young ...)

Google is your friend. Ironically, it's the very first result you would find.

    Besides that: http://mediabeta.curse.com/CurseClient/CurseSetup-2.0.0.14.exe

Enjoy (although since it's the curse client, i highly doubt that)

posted a message on WADDU - WoW Addon Updater
Of course it would be an idea if the author of WADDU and the people at the various addon sites would sit down together and maybe come up with a solution to avoid them blocking this and similar fine tools; an idea would be that the addon pages offer an adfeed that updaters can or have to integrate into their program to gain access to the downloads.

I see why the sites want ad traffic and similar to pay for their costs, but on the other hand ... users like me that use Firefox/Adblock see zero ads anyway, so what is the next step? Don't allow FF users to download addons?

IMHO: for the addon sites it would make the most sense to work with the addon updater authors to increase their ad revenue. People like me that don't mind manually checking/updating their mods are in fact causing MORE traffic than a working updater since we will connect to their servers several times a day to check for new stuff ... while not seeing a single ad to "pay" for it in any way.

Wouldn't it be easier on you if you'd add a filter to ONLY show addons with no mappings? Besides that: nice work, this looks quite promising :)

posted a message on Chatter- Ace3 chat mod (was Chatterbox)
Assuming i missed the following while going through 18 pages of discussion *cringe*

    Feature request:

    1) auto-scroll to bottom after (xx) seconds (right now i have the notification arrow pointing it out, but .. heck i am lazy. Some other chatmod did this and i <3 this feature. Did i mention i am lazy?

    2) would it be possible to add some kind of filtering to the chat notification? e.g. only trigger when a raidleader, or a friend, or .. (you get the point) types the keyword

    Bug report:

[2008/04/25 02:31:19-626-x1]: Chatter-1.0\Modules\LinkHover.lua:35: bad argument #1 to 'strmatch' (string expected, got nil)
    Chatter-1.0\Modules\LinkHover.lua:35: in function `?'
    AceHook-3.0\AceHook-3.0.lua:76: in function <Interface\AddOns\Ace3\AceHook-3.0\AceHook-3.0.lua:73>
    (tail call): ?:
    (tail call): ?:

    ---

I am not quite sure what triggers this, please let me know if i can do anything to help you tracking this down.

Thank you for this nifty mod, makes my life so much easier :)

posted a message on Yata (not an official thread)
Can confirm the bug mentioned above (i guess):

    Using Yata r35250:

    _________________________________________________
Yata\TotemBar.lua:677: attempt to index field '?' (a nil value)
    <in C code>: ?
    AceEvent-2.0-33858 (Ace2):255: in function `TriggerEvent'
    AceEvent-2.0-33858 (Ace2):1025: in function <Interface\AddOns\Ace2\AceEvent-2.0\AceEvent-2.0.lua:1018>
    _________________________________________________

Happens when i respecced from resto to elemental, losing Mana Tide but gaining Totem of Wrath. Deleting the yata savedvariables will of course reset the entire addon and it works just fine after WoW restart, but it's getting kinda annoying if you are forced to respec like 2 to 3 times a week *cringe* and have to set up everything again. Of course i was by now smart enough to back up my yata settings and just copy them over (or edit the file manually), but wanted to point it out anyway.

Thank you for this great addon, i can't imagine playing without it :P

P.S.: i guess i can remove the "not an official thread" in the subject line by now? :P

I *think* WoW was not running when i updated.

edit: as a matter of fact at some point i deleted my sct savedvariables to start from scratch, which i (of course) did while WoW was shut down

Will check a clean restart once we're done wiping to Midnight :P

    posted a message on SCT 6.0 / SCTD 3.0
    Error with last version:

sctd\sctd.lua:441: attempt to call method 'GetNameplate' (a nil value)
    sctd\sctd.lua:386: in function `func'
    sct\libs\ParserLib\ParserLib.lua:1123: in function `NotifyClients'
    sct\libs\ParserLib\ParserLib.lua:1093: in function `OnEvent'
    KombatStats-1.4\Libs\ParserLib\ParserLib.lua:293: in function <...face\AddOns\KombatStats\Libs\ParserLib\ParserLib.lua:293>

Only thing that noticed that i could not see my own damage (and heals on others) dealt anymore, incoming damage and heals on myself showed up

    Hope this helps :)

Edit: Turning off KombatStats helps fixing that problem, but makes me cry ;)
