can you add rend to the spell list?

i did it myself already but by doing that and setting the default to show only urs it will solve a lot of confusion for new ppl.

alright so basically all this time i thought the local variable had to point to a function. which they do most of the time but don't have to. they're just named that way for the sake of remember what that part does.

so lets say there was a function for stand sit and lay the "_" would cover all that but only what we care about from the other parts of code?

when doing this:

PowerBarColor["MANA"]["r"] = 0
PowerBarColor["MANA"]["g"] = 144/255
PowerBarColor["MANA"]["b"] = 255

is 255 considered 1.0 or can you go past 1.0?

cux doing this:
PowerBarColor["MANA"]["r"] = 0
PowerBarColor["MANA"]["g"] = 1.0
PowerBarColor["MANA"]["b"] = 1.0

wouldn't give me the same color i think. Is doing 0/255 for shades cux from what i understood 0 = off 1 = on.

i don't have to put PowerBarColor = {} at the start of that cux that would make a new table for PowerBarColor which one already exists correct?

--

value = PowerBarColor["MANA"]["r"]

in this example value is what i'm working with?

or are we talking about

value = PowerBarColor["MANA"]["r"] The number here for value

What does
"_"
exactly mean? It means it's junk so it's saying

local _(junk), powerType = UnitPowerType("player") but what does this cover?

--
local foo = "Goodbye"

function DoStuff()
local foo = "Hello"

if foo == "Hello" then
local bar = "World!"

-- 1. At this point, the value of "foo" is "Hello"
-- and the value of "bar" is "World!". Do you see why? ( cux of line 4 and 7 )
end

-- 2. At this point, the value of "foo" is "Hello", ( line 4 )
-- and the value of "bar" is nil. Do you see why? ( not exactly but why does foo = hello and goodbye? )
end

-- 3. At this point, the value of foo is "Goodbye",
-- and the value of "bar" is nil. Do you see why?
alright i think i get but i don't know if how i'm going to explain it will make sense.

in the code there is no Red so PowerBarColor.MANA.r servers no purpose. So putting the 3 lines of color before the main ( global table ) makes it work. which it throws " PowerBarColor.MANA.r" away to the garbage. which means i don't need that line.

why would it matter if i created a local table before the globe table for a custom blue of the power type mana. instead of just the original code you gave me when i mentioned it or is this just 2 different ways of doing the same thing?

Am i missing something or do i need to keep reading it again and again?

PowerBarColor["MANA"]["r"] = 0
PowerBarColor["MANA"]["g"] = 144/255
PowerBarColor["MANA"]["b"] = 255

Tells me the purpose of the above code. i don't need to put that in but Variable names are part of making it easier to read. i chose ManaColor cux calling it jello or a color doesn't mean much to me. question tho can i put the rest of the power types in then let them be edited in the options?

alright this is what i did. everything is as it is from Phanx's last paste only change i've made is this.

elseif event == "PLAYER_ENTERING_WORLD" then
-- We're now (mostly) fully loaded.

PowerBarColor.MANA.r = 0
PowerBarColor.MANA.g = 144/255
PowerBarColor.MANA.b = 1

local ManaColor = PowerBarColor.MANA.r

-- Color the text according to the player's power type
local _, powerType = UnitPowerType("player")
local color = PowerBarColor[powerType]
text:SetTextColor(color.r, color.g, color.b)

it's a nice pretty light blue.

edit: what are the events for if player is a vehicle, pet or something else that isn't the player's normal unit power.

Phanx: what difference does it make to move all the player type events after addon load? It seems to make more sense because i don't need to have them fire b4 fully loaded but why not have them all in the same place. also what is player unghost? I didn't see that in Speedometer. Doesn't the Hide part have to be CustomPower instead of self cux we made that on line 28?

As for the whole PowerBarColor Mana, i mentioned that in some places the dark blue is hard to read with the small text. You said i could change it with an example of code which i didn't know how to use properly. If you talking about http://paste.wowace.com/680/ i did use that till i mentioned the mana color thing. i thought we were editing a the table's color for mana that was already there. so thats why i thought i needed to put it after.

looking back i don't think i fully understand the difference between Self and putting CustomPower. putting CustomPower we're talking about the frame or stuff for the frame/addon. What does Self cover? Is it (i wanna say boolean) that in the lines of code following before/after?

egingell: i didn't put that in but are you talking about the moving the events for formatting?

egingell:

123 - 143
if event == UnitIsDeadOrGhost("player") then
CustomPower:Hide()
else
self:Show()
end

elseif event == "PLAYER_ENTERING_WORLD" then
-- We're now (mostly) fully loaded.

-- Color the text according to the player's power type
local _, powerType = UnitPowerType("player")
local color = PowerBarColor[powerType]
text:SetTextColor(color.r, color.g, color.b)

local PowerBarColor = {
["MANA"] = {
["r"] = 0,
["g"] = 144/255,
["b"] = 255,
}
}
