Yeah, Armory is the best! Can't live without it now. :)

2: After 3.2 the entire window scales to the default size after logout/login and not the bigger window I made it the last time I used it. I've deleted the prefs for Skillet and checked settings, but it re-sizes every time...Blizzard UI issue?

I haven't, in my use of Skillet, seen this issue even though I have my scale set to 0.9. Sorry!

4: Regarding custom groups. I'd love to create a list of items I craft regularly, or one of 'high value', etc. But whenever I try to create a group, Skillet freaks out and does weird things. I haven't tried it in awhile, but I remember the lists being empty, recipes that did show up weren't really there - ie you'd click on it and get a different item entirely in the right window. Or the game would lock up completely - and I'm sure it was Skillet because it was the only mod loaded at the time (with LilWorkshop). I guess my question is: does that feature work or is it broken and just hasn't been taken out or fixed? I've tried ATSW a few times because it has this feature, but there are just too many other things that I dislike or miss from LS Skillet and I switch back.

I've seen some weird things happen with custom groupings/groups too. In my experience, the most reliable way to organize my glyphs has been to keep everything I want to organize in one master list (which Skillet calls "Grouping"). I don't think the presence or absence of a padlock icon means anything in practice--it seems to come and go unpredictably--but I could be wrong.

If you create a new list, it'll start off with everything from the "Flat" grouping, but you can delete all the items you don't want to see. Then after you create empty groups inside your new grouping, you can drag items back and forth into groups and between them (this works reliably). Note that Skillet doesn't scroll the list automatically while you're dragging things around, so you might need to use your scroll wheel, which fortunately works even while dragging.

To add more things to your grouping later, for example after learning a new glyph, you can copy items from Flat or Blizzard and paste them into your custom grouping. Or you can type the name of the glyph into the Filter box, which doesn't really "filter" so much as search all recipes, regardless of what's in the active grouping. Copying and pasting can take a few tries, as if Skillet randomly forgets what's on the clipboard, but persevere!

Oh yeah, and I'm sure it won't hurt to /reloadui after every major action, like creating a new list or a new group. Heh.

Basically, groupings and groups don't feel nearly as flaky if you avoid doing anything REALLY crazy like try to maintain multiple custom groupings, or select the grouping with your own character name (this makes Skillet blow up for me, does it work for you?) It'd obviously be nicer if it were more stable and predictable, but I've found it usable overall.

    Hope this helps!

hold control when mousing over a recipe, and you'll get a tooltip for the item created locked to the upper left of the skillet panel.

Thanks, I didn't know about that! It seems, however, that Skillet isn't using the game-native tooltip for some reason, so Armory isn't able to add its inventory information. Probably for the same reason, Skillet tooltips aren't displaying Pawn info, and presumably info from any other addon that modifies item tooltips.

I spent a few minutes picking apart some other addons to see how they show item tooltips. So it looks like in Skillet, you might be able to change the Skillet:SkillButton_OnEnter function (in MainFrame.lua) to make it use GameTooltip, instead of SkilletSkillTooltip, for item tooltips. Would this have any adverse effects? I know very little about programming Lua or addons :)

Thanks again for maintaining this addon!

Hiya lilsparky, thanks for stepping up to maintain this addon! I really appreciate the work you've been doing.

A question/feature request: Is there a way to get items in the recipe list, at least the recipes that produce actual items, to display the tooltip for the item itself, instead of the detailed recipe or user notes?

The context for this is I use the Armory addon, which adds information to item tooltips about how many your alts have in inventory (including in the mail and up for auction--it's really helpful!) But to see this in Skillet, you have to click each recipe, then mouse over to the icon, then mouse back. This works when you only have a few items, but gets painfully tedious when you have several hundred glyphs or whatever to check. It would help immensely if there were an option to allow the item's tooltip to be shown while hovering over the recipe in the list.

Also, separate request, do you think the queue list could be made taller? IMO, the reagents list could stand to lose some of its height, since Skillet already rearranges the reagents to be more compact.

Yes, directly at the cast bar options in the layout editor.

    Oh, of course. Thanks.

The last answer on the subject was here, by Shefki: http://elitistjerks.com/f32/t63351-luatexts_new_dogtags/p4/#post1297198

It's a bit more involved than it looks.

Ah, okay. Here's what Shefki wrote there:

In order to do the talent stuff right you have to use LibTalentQuery or whatever the lib is called. I really don't want to suck in an extra dependency for a very very very few people that might use this. However you can use the library from within a LuaText. You'd just have to be sure to install it yourself if you don't already have it from some other addon. If I do anything it'll be writing an example how to do it.

An example would be great, Shefki, I'd really appreciate that! Thanks in advance, whenever you get around to it.

One more question. Is it possible to change the color of the cast bar (not the background)? It's a small thing, but I'm picky.

    Hi,

What's the best way to include a targeted player's talent tree spec (e.g. "Affliction", "Assassination", "Fury") in a text using luatext? The context is that I'm attempting to rewrite the following DogTag for my target:

[Classification] [Level:DifficultyColor] [SmartRace:Replace("Not specified", "Unknown")] [(if IsPlayer then
        [TalentTree:Hide("None") " "]:ClassColor Class:ClassColor " "
    end) DruidForm:Paren]

Apologies if this has already been answered--I haven't been able to figure out how to search through individual replies in this thread!
