    wow.. just got to say wow.. to all u pot smoking freaks out there with the whole paranioa thing going on..

    i have cartogropher, and everything else enabled.. and i don't have a problem, our guild dosn't have a problem etiher.

    hell - I want my map poplulated with where shit is, -- DUAH -- set a way point to a quest hub and flight form and go -

    as for herbs and mines, i FOUND a premade carto db with all that junk in it and - when asked i spam it to the guild, it's helpful to them, sence they don't have those nodes.

    as for ur "Secret" route.. PLEEZZZ - puff puff pass my friend - enough wtih the pipe.

    --now for all u sane ppl, ur right in the idea that the "sharing" aspect of cartogropher actualy work properly that if u don't want to share, or get notes from ohters it should act accordingly

    You're absolutely right... the ascii portrayed in this post is clearly an indication that I am a "pot smoking freak". Thank you for pointing out this habit that I never knew I had, pardon me while I go check myself into a rehabilitation center.

    daelic: in metamap, or ctmap mod how do you stop people form sending you notes?

    Metamap doesn't contain an "autoshare" function.

    If someone manually sends me a note, I believe I get a message asking if I want to accept it, but I'd have to test that to be sure. I'm using metamap right now as a protest, but that doesn't necessarily mean I like it. It's far inferior to Cartographer in many ways. ;)

    Shamino: if you configure noteshare to not share it doesnt transmit any notes out, and if you configure it as such you wont receive notes either.

    Except, you have to install noteshare to tell it not to receive any notes, otherwise it just accepts them by default, riddling your map with notes you probably don't need or want until you've installed a mod to shut it off. Why should I need a mod to disable features? shouldn't it be the other way around? That's the entire point of my posting... things are starting to get crazy, so perhaps it's time to stop and think about how everything interacts to keep it all sane.

    And with the guild positional sharing, there isn't even a choice in the matter. Might as well wear one of those tracking devices that warn the authorities when you stray too far from home. :P

    To those who say "get a new guild":

    I'm the GM of a great guild, we've been around since launch with the same core group of players. Yes... I have members that have been with me for over 2 years now. I don't auction off my goods, I usually craft within the guild for free or nearly free, which is something I could not do if I were to run out of supplies.

    It's not about the specifics of my example, it's about the lack of choice in a supposedly modular application. The "core" of cartographer had a single mission: provide the best map mod available. The application was designed in a modular fashion to provide a choice of features that some might want on top of the core design, yet this design choice is now being ignored in favor of clogging up the applications with features that I don't want or need, and can't disable without considerable effort.

    If you're not able to see the flaw in that, then I apologize for wasting your time. I will not, however, apologize for having an opinion and making it heard. Yes, I have the option to use an alternative map addon (or no addon at all) but that isn't what is best for the cartographer community, in my opinion.

    To those of you who saw around the example and found the point I was trying to convey, thank you for understanding and having a serious discussion on the subject.

    First of all, I'm a huge fan of cartographer. I've been using it for many months. I love the way it is modular, allowing you to only load the functionality you need or want, while ignoring the rest. The instance maps and mapnotes features are top-notch. It is by far the best map mod out there; However, something has gone wrong with the direction cartographer has taken, and my privacy is being infringed upon without my consent. How so, you may ask?

    I have a "secret" route that I take that always guarantees good gathering. I don't share it with very many people for obvious reasons. The other day, someone in guild chat started telling me exactly where I was, and telling me where my gathering nodes were... this really boggled me, until he told me that he was getting mapnotes and my position from cartographer.

    Great. Just wonderful. Yes, I had seen these marvelous sharing modules before, but did not download them, specifically because I DID NOT WANT MY INFORMATION SHARED. Apparently, my wishes aren't a concern, because cartographer still decided to broadcast my data, even after I found every broadcast option I could find, disabled it, and changed the channel to a custom channel. Nothing could stop cartographer in its mission to broadcast my secrets.

    Where is my wonderful stand-alone map module? Why can't I choose to have a map with my own self-contained notes database without having it broadcast to the world against my will?

    I've been using metamap this last week, and I really miss cartographer. If I can learn how to keep it from betraying me, I'll gladly go back to it.

    Another issue I had was auctioning a couple items (again, just testing), but the points won't show as being awarded. I think this might have to do with the lack of boss kill, but I don't know enough .lua and DKPMon to figure that out. I'm not sure if they were deducted or not.

    Not sure about your other issues, but for this one, are you telling dkpmon to deduct the points? Loot is a 5 click process:

    1: Open bidding
    2: close bidding
    3: assign winners
    4: Announce Winners
    5: Deduct winners points

    All of these steps represent clicks on the master loot window.

    I'm attempting to do an eqdkp import. I've uploaded the php script, and I run it via my web browser. It outputs the dkp standings, which I copy and paste into importdata.lua. In the game, when I choose Import Modules -> points database eqdkp import, it gives me an error:

    Interface\AddOns\DKPmon_eqDKP\importmod.lua:88: attempt to index global 'DKPmon_eqDKP' (a nil value)

    I've looked at the files and I believe the error is being generated in the copy/paste step due to how browsers handle line breaks. I would have expected the WoW client to throw some other error during game load but your importdata.lua file is essentially one big comment line :) due to the lack of line breaks.

    If you were to download the URL using some batch utility (on my mac I use curl from the command line) and save the file directly in the right place without the copy/paste step, it would work.

    What I will do is add a parameter to the php file so that it generates a properly formatted html page that you can then copy/paste into the lua file. If you wanted to give this theory a test, go into your importdata.lua file and put carriage returns in the proper places using a text editor.

    The data is all correct, just the browser doesn't realize it's displaying text file and I don't know PHP so well as to be able to change the HTTP headers returned to signify text :)

    If you have a batch utility or command line tool like wget or curl (unix) I'll bet they solve this issue.

    Splendid! I was wondering about it all being on one line. Sounds like a simple problem with a simple fix, the best kind. :)

    function FCZS.prototype:GetItemInfo(iteminfo)
      local mydb = DKPmon.DKP:GetDB("FCZS")
      if iteminfo.quality < mydb.qualthreshold then return nil,nil end

      local dkpinfo = {}
      -- Get the item value from hob
      dkpinfo.cost = HDKP_GetDKP(iteminfo.link)
      dkpinfo.poolIndex = 1 -- Only using one point pool for all instances, so it's labelled '1'
      dkpinfo.poolName = "Only DKP Pool"
      return true, dkpinfo
    end

    This worked, mostly... I had two add two lines to it to parse the itemID out of the item link, and then it worked perfectly. Here is what I ended up with:

    function FCZS.prototype:GetItemInfo(iteminfo)
      local mydb = DKPmon.DKP:GetDB("FCZS")
      if iteminfo.quality < mydb.qualthreshold then return nil,nil end

      -- Need to extract the itemID from the link for hobs function
      local found, _, itemString = string.find(iteminfo.link, "^|%x+|H(.+)|h%[.+%]")
      local found, _, itemId, enchantId, jewelId1, jewelId2, jewelId3, jewelId4, suffixId, uniqueId = string.find(itemString, "^item:(%d+):(%d+):(%d+):(%d+):(%d+):(%d+):(%-?%d+):(%-?%d+)")

      local dkpinfo = {}
      -- Get the item value from hob
      dkpinfo.cost = HDKP_GetDKP(itemId)
      dkpinfo.poolIndex = 1 -- Only using one point pool for all instances, so it's labelled '1'
      dkpinfo.poolName = "Only DKP Pool"
      return true, dkpinfo
    end

    This seems like it might be an old build. There was a one line update to the PHP file that fixed this around the TBC launch. It was my mistake of missing a file check-in. If you wouldn't mind, try grabbing the latest build from Eraslin's site or the SVN and seeing if the error still occurs?

    I updated from SVN just 10 minutes ago and uploaded the new dkpMon2Export.php, still getting the error.

    Also, when I export the string for eqdkp, it doesn't list item prices... but that's fine, since if I recall, you're working on your own eqdkp string mod? I'd rather see that up and running, tbh. ;)

    I'll look at this code as the ctraidtracker string should have the item values in it. I am working on the new eqDKP server plugin but have been mired in work for the past month with not much time to get it tested.

    If you're working on a native DKPmon import plugin for EQDKP, then I think that's a better effort to engage in. Let ctrt fend for itself. ;)

    Lastly, I have a feature request that I'm hoping won't be too difficult: Is there any way to get the system to grab pricing for items from hob_dkp? (or similar, I'm not stuck on hob)

    Since eqDKP doesn't fix pricing, I purposely didn't add item price exports from the current exporter. I'd be willing to look at pulling item costs from different solutions if there was general interest in a couple of schemes. Eraslin already convinced me once that the costs don't change much so didn't need to be specially implemented :) but I'm always open to being re-converted to the cause!

    Correct, prices don't change, it's just a PITA to always have to stop and fill in pricing everytime something new drops, just as much as it is a PITA to locate every possible drop and price it pre-emptively via a manually typed list. If you really want "easy administration" you want to be able to just set the formula and forget it, such as you can do with hob_dkp.

    We use HoB_dkp to process an items cost via a formula based on its stats. I'm fairly certain it's widely used, based on the frequency in which it gets mentioned on the eqdkp forums. CTRT will even grab item prices from it for you. Makes DKP administration much easier.

    Getting a cost from hob_dkp is easy, they provide a function:

    Any external addon can get the DKP of a certain item using the function HDKP_GetDKP(itemid, [enchantid, subid, extra])
    The only required parameter is itemid of course.
    The function won't produce any tooltips, it will only return the result.

    I tried to modify dkpmon_fczs to use this, but for some reason dkpmon won't recognize my modified version... all I did was change one line in the file:

    if tab ~= nil then
       dkpinfo.cost = HDKP_GetDKP(itemId)
       dkpinfo.poolIndex = tab.pool
       -- Quick sanity check.
       if cInfo.poolnames[tab.pool] == nil then
         error(string.format(L["Item %s is assigned to an undefined pool."], iteminfo.name))
         return nil, nil
       end

    Unfortunately, I can't answer your eqDKP import related question as I didn't write that module so I don't know exactly how it works. I sent an email to the person who wrote it, so hopefully you'll have a response soonish.

    Not a problem at all. We probably won't begin raiding for another 2 weeks anyway.

    Quote from Eraslin »

    About the hob_dkp pricing. Sure, there's nothing stopping you from writing/modifying one of the DKP system modules to grab prices from a different addon rather than a static list.

    -Eraslin

    ok, so if I'm using fixed cost, zero sum, I'd just need to edit the dkpmon_FCZS, find where it's getting prices, and then modify it to pull from hob, rather than a static list? I think I might be able to manage that, although I'm not all that great with lua, so it might take me some time. :)

    Thanks a bunch.

    I deleted prat and let WinAceUpdater download it again, and still got the error.
