well tonight im gona figure out how to get the profile back into the addon.. that should be fun...
I really hope you get some support on this one with the interface part and such. Keep up the good work mate, looking forward to see this alive.
Oct 31, 2007eePanels is one of the addons that usually works just fine with the old "Rename these folders" methods. Most problems are caused by PitBull and Bartender. Chat layout/settings also but they are pretty familiar for everyone, still exact Prat settings/layout would be blessing.Posted in: General Chat

as an update to my personal inquiry on this...
i've worked out the logic and needed methods to make this work. It will just require you to know exactly where to copy things from and where to put them, if you put it in the wrong place.. well it goes all fubar'ed on you.
Oh man, now that was a damn nice thing to read first thing in the morning :)
Much of love <3

why dont people go and config shit themselves. solves everything. prioritize. want it pretty? get into it, and don't shove it onto someone else's (imaginary might I add. I don't see this happening) plate.
I understand the elitist stand point you are having. Problem is that no matter how we would like to live in perfect world where everyone speaks computers, we wont live in it. There is demand for this kind of utility. You are at wowace forums, telling people to basicly code their own addons and fuck off (Example of how your posts seem in comparison to demanding people to configure their addons instead of using exsisting configs).
Its exactly same thing 1 step behind. As outsider and non addon coder I find it very amusing to see you going so emotional on this issue. Author Codes addon, we consume it. We configure the addons to look cool, and non-nerd consumes that when they like the outcome of how the different addons are "merged" together. Or at least they try to consume the addons and configs. Thats exactly same as what wowace is. Easy addons to approach with logical functions and equalish configuration ways. Same thing from different direction.
Oct 24, 2007Posted in: General ChatAnother Question.
I got the download from the website and i set it up. But It doesn't look exactly the same.
Is it because of my Monitor (NEC [Pretty Old]) or because i gotta mess with the addons?
Cause the addons are pretty confusing. At least to me.
This kind of messages from random people who like your UI are daily. I would love to help them out but its rather impossible to try help them when they lack the information about config files.

You know why I download compilations and then tune them to how I want? Because I work 40-50 hours per week, I take two graduate classes that take about twenty hours per week of my time, I have a wife and family I enjoy spending time with, I have other hobbies like reading and watching movies and playing Wii, and I actually enjoy playing the game when I finally get a chance to sit down at my computer to do it. I have the ability to research how to modify a mod when I see one I like, even though I don't have any formal coding experience; I could, if I wanted, sit down to figure out how to organize all the information on my screen in a way that makes sense; I could if I wanted to handicap myself use Blizz's default ass-ugly UI. Instead, I find a way to utilize someone else's (MUCH APPRECIATED, THANK YOU) hard work and tune it to my needs, without having to spend three straight nights doing it.
This is why I just download the add-ons and don't post here. Jesus
You are classic example of person who I would love to see using something that I have for example compiled to be handy addons and their layout. I spend hours, yes HOURS on configuring certain addons just that they are exactly how I want them to be. Then I go play for some time, and when I see some button or hotbar isnt as easily reachable as it needs, I spend some more time to fine tuning things.
It is not rocket science, but some people like spending time and fine tuning stuff to please their personal needs. And after all that time spent with doing cool addon compilations and layouts, it would be nice if other find them worth downloading.
Only that it isnt as easy as it is to download stuff from WoWAce. This community has doen extremely good job with addons, and I truly love the effort put up for making things as good as they are. And even if I am beginner with making addon compilations, thats the way how I would love to support this communitys work and spread the addons in a way that I see them work best.

no its not. Compilations suck and are for lazy people. If you are incapable of throwing addons together yourself you should be doing Computer 101 courses (retard).
Edit: And if you want your interface exactly like someone else you lack creativity.
I love messing around with my UI, but try to understand that there are huge amount of people who just dont bother because they arent that geekish or talk computers like you expect. They would like to try addons out, but they dont know where to start or how to start. I on the other hand would love to do this job for them, and just give them UI compilation what is stupid proof.
And it bothers me how Blizzard havent made UI sharing easier, thats why I wanted to ask these boards for such tool because of all the great tools wowace authors have released so far.

Part of the problem is some of your saved variables have the sharing toon's name/server in them. It's not always enough to just rename the folders. One method I have used is opening up all the saved variables in notepad++, then using the replace with command to replace toon names/server names with new ones. I have also edited classes in this manner too. Now you don't want to change all of them, for example you don't want to change the KC_Items saved variables or you will end up with wrong auction prices.
It's a crude method, and I would not suggest anyone do it without first backing up your WTF folder, but it has worked very well for me in the past.
This is exactly the problem what I was refering to. Sorry for not being specific enough.
I was thinking if there was way to "default" the current UI setup so it would be irrelevant for the next user that what hes server name was or what hes account name was. So that without any that information, player could load into wow and since all addons load to some specific layout, how could that layout be the one what the author of Ui package had when he zipped up.
Oct 11, 2007Is there any possibilities for WoWAce addon authors to somehow create standard handling for "default" UI settings? What I mean, that if I backup my addons and WTF. I could just throw my friend with the UI package and as default he would get exactly the same settings as I am using. My current instructions for friends after downloading my Addons / WTF folder is just to...Posted in: General Chat
Delete old Interface and WTF folders.
Unzip my WTF, and Interface folders into your WoW directory.
Rename folder YOURACCOUNTNAME in the \WTF\Account folder.
Rename folder YOURSERVERNAME in the \WTF\Account\YOURACCOUNTNAME\ folder.
Rename folder YOURCHARACTERNAME in the \WTF\Account\YOURACCOUNTNAME\YOURSERVERNAME folder.
Load into WoW.
And as you can understand, it isnt really working as well as I thought it would work. Is there any better way to share my UI setup? if no, could this be made easier from your part? I dont mean that is necesary, just that it would be great if sharing your UI could be just zip&share.
Thanks in advance :)

Jun 11, 2007Anyone else have same problem that you get Fubar blocked by Blizzard Ui when trying to use macro from Bartender?Posted in: General AddOns
I only want to...
/use Bloodlust Brooch
/cast Hammer of Justice
But the damn macro on Bartender always brings up this warning how WoW wants to disable Fubar.
Edit: Ok I will wait 2.1.2 :(
