Sep 17, 2009In addition, the Algalon pull trigger needs to be somewhat refined, because as it is, timers will always be inaccurate on the initial pull. There is an additional yell once you pull Algalon for the first time (it reads "See your world through my eyes: A universe so vast as to be immeasurable - incomprehensible even to your greatest minds."), than any consecutive pulls afterwards. At one point Bigwigs used to "reset" all timers when that specific yell was detected, a change which was "lost" during the recent port.Posted in: Raid AddOns

Sep 16, 2009Posted in: Addon IdeasQuote from DezziedcAlthough last night I was healing, I noticed that it tracked buffs on the party. So it tracked fort/spirit/sp on all targets. It says that you can remove the tracking by right clicking, but when they ran out of range and back in range, the tracking was refreshed (or at least that seems to be what was happening - either way, it kept refreshing the information). So I couldn't seem to find a way of permanently getting rid of the tracking. It didn't appear in the Addons tab of the Interface either.
I only gave it a brief run last night but I will try the /ellipsis command tonight and see if I can configure it to suit my need better.
The configuration is LoD, once you use the slash command it will be added to the Blizzard configuration panel. You may want to completely disable cooldown tracking or simply blacklist/exclude those annoying buffs.
Sep 16, 2009Why do you need your addon(s) to be using the Ace3 framework, if they are working just fine ? Flexibility is a term open to different interpretations. Are you using a modular approach and thus require AceAddon-3.0 ? Do you usually have issues with hooks and scheduled timers ? Do you require configuration menus and/or localization support ?Posted in: AddOn HELP!
I guess my point is, you need to determine if there are specific areas in your addon(s) that usage of the Ace3 libs would provide a meaningful, tangible benefit and work towards using the libraries that you really require, rather than just porting the addon for the sake of making it "Ace'd".

On a side note, why do you feel you need to create your frames via xml, for an Ace3 addon ? Do you intend to use/support any specific convention or template ? Kind of hard to provide a meaningful response, if you don't describe what you hope to accomplish.

CC4 does warn you if an addon designated as "Modified" is about to be updated (it basically reinstalls it, nullifying your changes in the process). I'm not sure if this happens if you use the "Update All" button, but it certainly happens if you use the "Get" button, individually.
The ability to change preferred type (alpha/beta/release) of all addons would be really nice.
You can already do that via the options menu (should be the 2nd tab, if I remember correctly) and you have been able to do so, for some time now.

To me, those are all about as useful and desirable as <BLINK> and <MARQUEE>.
This is basically a good summary of a situation that has been this way for months (if not years) now and a summary that I'm in total agreement with.

It was never my intention to spew bullshit. if I didn't care, I wouldn't have posted anything. I'm well aware that most options will come back, which was my point. I had honestly not noticed that boss specific alerts had this (temporary ?) limitation.

Is it possible that the config mode can also show the proximity window so that can also be positioned and have it's options adjusted?
A lot of things still cannot be configured, even if the configuration means "Yes, let me use this module" or "No, disable it plex". The proximity window is one of those modules, but right now the biggest offender is the removal of configuration for Boss specific alerts (which in my very humble opinion should get high priority), probably because the Ace2 tables need to be properly ported. A temporary solution (which seem to work, considering my limited testing), is to have kept a copy of your previous savedvars file (before the breakage) and port the per boss settings manually, if you are familiar enough with the formal Bigwigs uses (I would highly recommend against it, if you don't know exactly what you are doing). Or be patient and wait for the configuration to be finalized ;)

Yup, this is a major mistake that needs to be corrected ASAP. You need to switch to the same essence of the Vortex in order not to die, especially on Heroic where such a mistake will not be forgiven. The code will produce a positive warning, if you debuff is the opposite of the Vortex, when it should be giving you a huge fat alert.

Which is exactly why it is a good idea to cull "shake" for good and as far as I can remember Ammo said that it's going to be removed (I think flash still works even with nameplates on).

Aug 30, 2009One more thing that should be mentioned (and has been indirectly mentioned) besides active maintenance, is that Ace3 libraries do not absolutely require each other in order to be usable in an addon. Sure, they are designed to "support" each other so to speak, but they provide authors with choices, for example you can embed libraries such as AceLocale-3.0, AceTimer-3.0, AceHook-3.0, AceEvent-3.0 etc as "standalones", without having to embed AceAddon-3.0 at all.Posted in: Frameworks
