I have no idea what's causing it.
Still... I haven't experienced anything after 3.2. here' my old thread btw. Oh yeah unless I'm mistaken now isn't this just the way it is because (us) Windows users are using FAT or NTFS? Like the file system you have on Mac's doesn't need to be defragmented correct?
No it's more like back up programs on windows eg System Restore likes to corrupt it somehow.
Never figured out how but it seems to be the chief complaint about it in the Tech Support sticky with common issues. There's a few "this error occurs when System Restore or a back up program has spewed up over the MPQ files pls reinstall"

Are you okey?
Just certifiably insanely helpful :) .
Would be a great tool for Mac users as I frequent the Mac Tech Support forums a lot.
Because as a rule people just don't back up their wow folders after a patch. From my time reading the Tech Support forums and Mac tech support forums I can count the number of times someone's said "Oh ok I'll just restore from a backup" it responses to having to reinstall on One hand.
It only seems to be the select few , technically gifted people who think to back up their World of Warcraft folders. It's pretty much either Repair.exe works or you're going to have to reinstall.
I suppose I could just tell them to use Time Machine to take the world of warcraft client back until the build name changes in the Get Info field of World of Warcraft.app I guess. But that would depend on them having a spare disk that's been designated as a Time Machine disk and that they had that back when the last patch come out.
PS Oh and ty to the nice mod for correcting my spelling :) Was it you Tekkub :) Tell truths now *waves bacon*

I know I know.
People just want their "omg one click solution"
I've found people don't backup their World of Warcraft folders - that's why when you tell them "you have corrupt data you need to reinstall" they're like OMG!
The other point I've just thought on is - how long does it take to check sum x amount of data and restore x amount of data. If properly managed a complete reinstall may actually be faster.
Personally I make a back up of my WOW folder every 2 weeks. I understand that not all of the Data folder gets loaded into memory or checked only when it's needed to be loaded. So I really should install a fresh copy to my back up so I can have a copy that hasn't been corrupted.

It does ?
I thought it threw up it's hands if it had too much data to restore.
I don't understand why either. I can't see any technical reasons why not. Certainly in 5 years I would of expected someone to come out of the woodwork and offer their code up.
If they make it a Java based app they could store much of the code base that could be subverted for nefarious purposes on the server.
But we're not talking about something that could be subverted for the purposes of logging keys anyway are we. Not am I not sure Java could be used to log keys I don't see if theres any point - wouldn't you need to always make darn sure what version of Java you had installed on the target computer and wouldn't that limit the payload ? . Neither IMHO would it be very stealthy - to me it would like using a Tauren Rogue with Mail rather then a Gnome rogue.
Nov 28, 2009Posted in: General ChatQuote from highflight1985Has anyone tried this one?:
It, too, appears abandoned, but it's more specific to frame design than an entire IDE.
If it's not being updated then there isn't any point using it IMHO.
The Api's being revised several times since that was last updated.
If you are using this to "mock up" something quick you don't want to be going back into the code and rewriting it for the latest patch.
It's just quicker to discard the tool that is generating out of date code and just code it from raw yourself. IMHO You would spend more time cleaning up after it's messes then actually coding.
Nov 28, 2009I thought I would ask this here as you chaps seems to be technically orientated :) That and I'm bored and this plot bunny won't leave me alone :(Posted in: General Chat
What does Repair.exe actually do ?
I'm thinking about what it would take to make a Macintosh version of the Repair program. While Blizzard is one of the only if the only company that builds and supports a client for both OS X & Windows a Macintosh version of the repair program seems to be something they've missed out on.
5 years on and they still haven't made one :(
Does Repair.exe do a checksum on the MPQ files in the Data folder use the DVD to repair just the damaged portions of it ? Or does it just do a simple copy of the entire MPQ file. ?
I wonder how feasible an the idea of using a PAR file regenerate the damaged portions of it.
I'm just thinking that if they made it a Java program they could technically make it a cross platform program.
ok guys. Shoot my idea down. Shoot it down in flames :)

Seriously, an array-like table? Damnit blue.
Me not know how to program. Me only just mastered Sed ! (sort of)
There's been interesting macro changes to :
Symbol @ added as a synonym for target=;. For example, /cast [@focus] Flash Heal.
Is this a sign of more complicated macros to come needing space?
IE 8 characters down to 1 :)
Possibly some traffic savings due to only having to send one character as opposed to 8 characters. Especially with people spamming macros everywhere.

Couldn't find a source other than MMO-Champion. The official thread was the last place I looked :)
There's other UI/Interface changes but what you've listed is possibly the only ones relecant to addon authors :)

Aug 10, 2009Posted in: Lua Code DiscussionQuote from AdirelleIs there any alternative to AtlasLoot Enhanced without the wishlist bloat and that properly works around the 3.2 LoadAddOn bug ?
One that doesn't involve alt tabbing to a website , grabbing an item code and putting that into a item id linker ?
IDK but the above method is what I use and it's quite low memory :)
