i've been dabbling in the Assessment code of late as I learn Lua. I have what I would call a 'hacked' version of healing working. But, this does not include over heal calculations and definitely needs a re-write once I better understand the language. The new 2.4 combat events that are available do not include values for over heal. it appears from the code that prior to 2.4, there was a value passed as over heal.
Given this change, and my extremely limited experience with the WoW API, I wanted to start a discussion amongst knowledgeable mod-authors on how they would consider tracking over heal. I'll eventually get to investigating how to make this work on my own, but asking never hurt (plus, I am lazy :)
edit: btw, i am not intending to interfere with durcyn's work. i highly doubt i'll have releasable code for a long time. plus, he probably already knows how to fix these types of things where as I have to learn both that and the language :)

Apr 19, 2008durcyn, what area are you working on right now? i've synced down the 2.4 branches and i'm looking through the source now. admittedly, i've written 10 lines of lua in my life. however, i'm a software engineer by day and program in a dozen languages. i doubt it will be long. just wondering if there is an easy area to work while i get up to speed on LUA.Posted in: General AddOns

I see example posts with information such as:
2/5 12:36:05.709 SWING_DAMAGE,0xF13000002800192A,Kobold Miner,0x10a48,0x0000000000427042,Foozle,0x511,5,1,nil,nil,nil,nil,nil,nil
but no actual documentation saying how to interpret these fields. perhaps i just fail at searching on the wow UI & Macro forums?
btw, i realize there are new combat log APIs in 2.4 for the purposes of mod-development. I was just additionally curious if there was documentation on the fields themselves.
