    I used to have the IntelliTXT links disabled for www.wowace.com. But lately they have reappeared and I can no longer disable them. I tried clearing cookies in my browser but still no luck. Anyone else noticed this?

    Well, it's one of very few (only?) commercial addons. Nothing wrong with that. It's not like they are cheating you into paying. If they believe they have something to offer that people will pay for, then I wish them the best of luck.

    I'm giving it a try currently. Mostly because I was curious - and I can spare the 2$ that one month costs. In my opinion, a paid addon has to be really, really good to stand a chance against all the free addons out there.

    I just ordered the 8800GT. There is a few weeks delivery time sadly. Is it RAM from Apple, btw? Apple's RAM is something like 2-4 times the price of 3rd party RAM. :shock:

    Anyway, it definitely is a fast comp. The 8 cores are likely overkill for WoW. But great for other things. I tried running two instances of WoW on the same comp. I could barely see any performance drop. :)

    In the upcoming version there is no "style" option as such. It always shows coins and these are embedded nicely with the text around it. That is, it shows like this:

    Sells for (2 x 2g34s56c) 4g69s12c

    (But with coins instead of the letters g, s, and c. And a bit more space between them too.)

    I could add an option to just show it like

    Sells for 2g34s56c

    If that is what you are looking for?

    Got it today! Yay! :)

    I was impatient and just bought the standard configuration. Have spent most of the day installing and transferring stuff. But I did play WoW a little and it is definitely an upgrade from my iMac. Though I will consider buying the NVIDIA card later. And perhaps more RAM.

    Btw, I noticed that it says this in the Config.wtf:

    SET coresDetected "8"


    So the game at least knows how many CPU-cores there are. Wether they get used properly, I don't know :P Though I can see that the game uses much less CPU time overall even though I have higher FPS now.

    If you - like many others - have problems with the limited number of macros, I'd suggest not using macros for things like this. Reserve macros for secure actions that you want to put on an action button. Instead either get an addon that allows you to write Lua scripts in-game or write a small addon yourself with some custom scripts.

    A couple of addon suggestions:

    TinyPad

    Anyway, I'd suggest that more sub-forums be implemented. It could be one for each of the Ace-categories. These seem to work fairly well in general. Some addons may not fit into just one category. But I think they will be the minority.

    You may have noticed that I removed the libraries that you had checked in as direct copies on the SVN. That's not the correct way of using the SVN, so they had to go. I also added them as externals instead. But you may want to check that things are working as expected - especially when using updaters such as WAU. Some adjustments of the TOC and/or the embeds.xml files may be needed too.

    Never modify events or return values of Blizzard functions. It's asking for trouble. Other addons and Blizzard's code could easily assume things about these events and functions that you have no control over. I also think you run a great risk of causing taint. Also, you have no control over who handles events before or after you do. So there isn't any way to safely alter events anyway.

    A different issue about your code is that you are unnecessarily calling GetFramesRegisteredForEvent once for each frame. That could be a major performance problem. You should pass the list of frames to another function so you can use the traditional way of looping over varargs:

    local function HandleFrames(...)
     for i = 1, select('#', ...) do
      local frame = select(i, ...)
      --- do whatever with the frame
     end
    end

    For anyone interested in testing, I have put up a development version of what I expect will be the next version of ItemPriceTooltip:

    The main functional difference (and hopefully improvement) is that it can now display coins in tooltips. :) Apart from that it's mostly a rewrite for my own (in)sanity's sake. :P It uses an upcoming feature in patch 2.4 to display coins. So this will only work on the PTR. Though, I've made a few "hacks" that should make it run on live too - but obviously without coin display. I've also removed some of the configuration options. Let's see how long it lasts before I am persuaded to add them back. :D

    Feel free to test and provide feedback. :)

    Usually people say that static memory doesn't matter - which is correct provided one understands what it meant by static. :P

    As for giving so-called "mindless users" wrong ideas. I'd much rather try to get rid of the overwhelmingly common misunderstanding that fewer and smaller addons improve performance than try to explain all details about memory usage to people who for the most part don't really care about those details. :)
