SellFish can save the prices in Wrath beta, ItemPriceTooltip can't :P

:( I don't have access to the beta, I'm afraid.

    It's only self-documenting if it's coded properly.

It's a known fact that the code is self-documented anyways :-).

LOL or at all. At least where I work. I'll document something in code and yet other programmers come to ask about something that I had already documented in the code :)

It's only natural to ignore comments... Lua does that too. :P

One thing is for sure. Lua reads comments faster than programmers do. :P

I don't know if this is the reason, but your files don't have the correct capitalization. They are named "gnomedust.toc" and "gnomedust.lua". They should be named "GnomeDust.toc" and "GnomeDust.lua".

I couldn't care less about apologies. Benumbed is a repeat plagiarizer. It's well-supported by fact. The only thing I want is the plagiarized project pulled. Personally, as a repeat offender, I think he should be banned.

I guess we can take the above quote as an answer to Xinhuan's question about what solution you are seeking. From Elsia's research it seems like this solution was effectively satisfied near then end of February. If you still claim that the current project is a copy or derived work of yours, I believe you need to argue precisely why without any reference to the prior state of the project.

This work took HUNDREDS of hours to get the data, tweak the data (which took about 95% of that time), import it into Mazzle's addon and write the surrounding code to implement the data.

Kudos to him and his team for doing this work. Absolutely no kudos for not wanting to share it. That's how I feel about it.

He sees his and his team's hard work and hundreds of hours spent passed off as someone else's.

If it was indeed passed off as someone else's work and no credit was given, then that is sad. I'd shake my head and roll my eyes at such actions. But that's about as far as I would go. At worst somebody's feelings have been hurt here. Bringing up copyright laws and other legal issues is way beyond the importance and severity of this issue as it has been represented in this thread. If any legal actions were ever to be pursued, I sincerely hope they would be rejected way before ever going to court.

Addons are software. Do you feel that way about all software? If so then that's fine and I'll stop. I just take serious issue with you dismissing the efforts of addon authors as trivial for no other reason than the platform on which the software runs.

No, I don't feel like that about all software. I can't define exactly where I draw the line. But obviously it's not where you draw it.

I don't dismiss the efforts of anybody trying to make free software for the benefit of others. I especially value those who do this in a purely altruistic way. They will get the recognition they deserve for their work - copyrights or not.

But some of them have. What's your point?

It surprises me that some addon developers think copyright is so important for addons. If you want to explain to me why you think it is important, I am all ears.

    Quote from Cogwheel »

Your attitude seems to stem more from a lack of self esteem than anything.

My attitude towards addon development is clearly different from yours. No need to get personal about why this is so.

As an artist you really should understand copyrights, even if you don't believe in them or choose to enact yours.

    We are artists? :P

Seriously, I have put little to no thought into licensing and copyrights in the context developing addons for WoW. My guess is that this is true for most addon developers. The whole concept of copyrights for something as insignificant as addons seems silly to me.

I think some people here need to realize that we are not in a court room. While the legal issues can be interesting and useful to know about, they are not the only relevant issues to debate. The moral, personal, social issues and opinions are just as relevant here. I don't know what's "right" and "wrong" legally in this particular case. If he truly believes that his legal rights have been violated and that he cannot get a satisfying solution, he can take it to court. Otherwise he and everyone else should accept that the issue will be debated both legally and based on opinions.

I've committed a potential fix for this issue. It should not generate errors now. But I've not yet had a chance to test if it works properly on items with charges. Non-English versions will need translation for the fix to fully work.
