Always just would find where MC = MR for profit maxization, and the would use elasticity to determine the change in quantity demanded and supplied in reaction to price changes...

Anyway, interesting you should mention about there not being a fixed cost component, because I almost put that same thing in my first reply, then thought better of it, the time spent and the gold costs for leveling and recipes may be considered a fixed cost component. It would all be sunk costs though so, yeah, no effect on the pricing model really. Though of course WoW has to introduce artificial scarcity which is what makes its economics both interesting and 'flakey'. The other oddity of course is all goods are equal no matter what craftsman produces them, including 'students', so people often subsidize the production costs of goods just to level up with the end result being the same product to the buyer, so lots of cases where goods are sold below the costs of the reagents.

    This is arguable.

You can sell 2 glyphs for 5g profit each (total 10g), or you can sell 1 glyph for 10g profit.

More sales does not necessarily equate to more profits, until you study the elasticity of demand and supply, and that of the herbs as well.

Huh? elasticity determines the slope of the demand and supply lines, the profits are determined by MUC.

program can disable UAC, provided the user was tricked into installing it (not hard) and was in the Administrators group (as most users are by default). I'd prefer the overzealous UAC in Vista to a completely useless "smart UAC" in 7.

Most users should not be in the administrator group by default.

Filesystems are basically a non-issue really. You'd have to have some really specific workloads to really notice the difference between them. And I thought ext4 was all the rage now. :P

hdtv streams may want file systems optimized differently. Probably the most likely up and coming home use that would want something different then ntfs anyway.

Oh and most UAC complaints are still the fault of the software you are running. For example the Blizzard updater STILL always asks for OS shutdown privileges as soon as its started when it has zero need for it.

Blizzard updates are a mess.... they really should spend a week and clean it up, it seems like it is written and maintained by the interns.

Yeah, something is off, I just tagged tinytip for example, yet the project still shows as inactive , and while it put the new version in the downloads part of the curse page both the current version link and the download link go to older versions.

edit: actually the current version and downloads seem to point to a version two releases old now.

Please note that AutoBar will be broken with this patch until I rewrite the popup code yet one more time. 50 posts about this are neither wanted, helpful nor required.

Wow, 21 hours of procrastination! Sadly the problem did not magically resolve itself which is the big, if infrequent, payoff from procrastination.

    LOL, good luck with it.

One comment was that using the Lua names was misleading - would calling the functions wow_require and wow_module be any better?

If I understand your reasoning for making this, sort of a compatibility hook, then you would want to keep the names the same to allow the code to come in as is I would think.

The calendar in beta at one point was not protected. Then people started posting to some forums that maybe this could be used for a data store. Guessing that made Bliz close it. According to Mundocani (group calandar author), Blizzard is lossening some of the security, so hopefully the built in calendar will become more Addon friendly soon.

Reads like a 'for it post'. You said in your first post you planned to try and implement something anyway? If you throw out some code that is easy to hook into and it gives advantages it will probably start to take off once available.

Welcome to the fourms twobits, rhetorical questions don't exist here. If there is an "?" at the end of a statement then it will be answered by someone :D

As for what sylv sugested, if we, as authors, could aggree on a common and easy to access spot to put addon SVs then a "Pre-Load Addon compliation" solution would work. Otherwise we're left with custom implementations all over the place, and prolly only a custom setup would work.

Time to try and spec out and write a LibDefaults ?

Yes but did you see what I wrote?

Its obvious that nobody likes having their good name drug through the mud by somebody else for something they didn't do.

Yes, I agree... no where have I said I think the author should not be able to restrict the use of the work in a compilation. The topic was never what how I thought things should be. I made the mistake of taking some questions asked as real questions. Why do people not ignore my notices, and what can I do about it. Turns out they were rhetorical and an answer was not expected or wanted.

Should people do it? no... Do they ? Seems so. Different issues.

FYI, I think it is perfectly find and reasonable for FireFox to want to protect and control what a web browser distributed as FireFox is and control that.

My views on property rights are much closer to that of Ayn Rand then Karl Marx.

So are you right? Oh, and btw, it does cost money to register a Copyright too, fyi.

Since Mikk has gone and starting linking to Wikipedia I figure I might as well too.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firefox#Trademark_and_logo_issues
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mozilla_software_rebranding

I have a very good idea what the different sides of this debate think about that one.

Just this one doesn't involve copyrighted artwork (well actually it does, since 99% of compilations are probably ripping off somebodies artwork without permission) or a legal trademark (which require money to register, unlike a copyright). But its the intent of it that counts.

Do you now... a question for you, did you read what I wrote? If so you will see that I actually said that for what Phanx is trying to do trademark protection may be better suited for the job.

Now... also... . do you think I said anyplace authors do not or should not have these rights? If so you are misreading me as badly as phanx did, she asked, but apparently did not really want an answer to 'why people would copy her addons against the terms' , not if it was right or not. That is a different topic.
