All operations to the curse servers require you to be logged into the curse network and have a valid session on our servers. ...All operations require it, except the news. Checking addon updates? user and pass required. Downloading an addon? user pass required. Getting the addon listing? User and pass required...

I'm confused like Seerah. I mean I checked it again few seconds ago and I don't have to login to get addon updates or to get the list of addons or whatever.

And I hope it will keep like that because registering only to see the addon listing / download something is a really stupid idea. Its annoying for the users and doesn't make any sense because what do you want with dead accounts (and well accounts only used for downloading are dead accounts). And thankfully it is not *that* common.

and savedvariables are not saved server side but you have one attacched to your current character and one to the account you are playing on (not server like I wrote in my first post).

And how does this disable the option (in your opinion) to rename the folders?

It signs in the the data service so it know what data to send back to you.

Clearer declaration please? I mean I don't want to use profiler, I don't want a premium account... why does an updater need "data service" and "get data back" with login? There are sessions which work without login; there are GET/POST requests, and so on...

Addon vars are saved on server? I mean I read that macros and keybindings (in addition to actionbuttons) are now saved only. But not saved vars (would be too much data btw). So you could just logout, rename the folders (or use tools for that even if I don't know a specific one and atm I don't have much time for working on my addon manager) and login again.

Because they think that it is okay to install the profiler without asking the user... and I think the profiler needs the username to upload the data. IMO the user should be able decide whether (s)he wants to install and use the profiler or not.

How to set which addon should be updated from which URL if it doesn't list every installed addon? I mean like Phanx already said this forced auto-match isn't that good idea. Auto-match is okay but one should be able to define for every addon (what requires that every addon is shown in the list) from which addon site (means ID xyz not www.xyz.tld ;)) it should be updated. And I agree to the other suggestions Phanx made few posts before too.

Then there is normally "Nachnahme"(Cash on Delivery) its a nice payment option but has other disadvantages like you have to be at home to receive your stuff or that you pay normally around double the normal price for shipping.

That it costs more money is right but that you have to be at home is wrong ;) If you use the "official" delivery service you just can go to their branches (if you wasn't at home), pay the money and get your stuff; if you are home you get your stuff and pay the money at home ;). If you don't use "official" you mostly have to be at home even if you don't use "Nachnahme".

In my opinion the best payment options for shops where you get "real" stuff (means not download-only ;)) is "auf Rechnung" what means first you get what you wan't and then you make a "Uberweisung" (send money to the vendor ;)). But because so many people misuse that (means: Waiting for admonitions) more and more shops stop offering it :(.

And according to hardcash money: Well time wasting is so low (if someone isn't shopping addicted and not fully unorganized) that it doesn't carries weight (I mean you maybe go 1-3 times per week to your bank to get money); in addition mostly a bank is on the way to / near the shops so you don't have to make detours. In addition I think the money loss caused by spontaneous useless-buys (caused by having "unlimited" money with you) is much higher than the loss because of stolen hardcash money.

Also, not having a debit/credit-card in a modern work is serious slack. How can you live without one is beyond me. You go to the bank and get hardcopy cash every time you need to buy anything?!?

Well yeah in Germany it's common to use hardcash (and having enough with you to buy smaller things) and I don't see why it shouldn't; except you are shopping addicted :P I know that hardcash-less pay is totally common in USA but that doesn't mean it is common in other countries ;)

Live yourself into the modern world -- and you won't have issues with your gamecards running out and the website being down for WoW :p

Well in Germany there is no real need for having CC or something like that (even if you *could* pay with EC cards and so on on most shops and the count of people doing that is increasing; but CCs are still uncommon). That doesn't have to do anything with modern or not modern (even if some US-guys think their live style is the ultimate right one :P). For hardcash-less payment outside of RL-shops there are other ways to pay which are more common than CC. And no we don't have to login to WoW page to extend the playtime ;) (except those guys who don't own a bank account).

In Germany there is no(!) real need for a CC - even if you are shopping online (on German shops). The only exception are international shops; and normally you don't have to use them often ;)

Even if Wirecard sounds interesting - getting CC only for these once in a blue moon cases and to pay Curse? No not really...
In addition I dislike online-only banks and I don't find any information which big bank owns Wirecard. What I find are postings and news which increase my distrust. And Wirecard isn't totally free too (put money on it => 1 EUR and more) and you have to pay 10 EUR!!! if a shop misused the data and catched too much money and you want it back.

According to CP I totally agree to Phanx. The CC shouldn't install it without asking and why should it install if you don't want it? There is no real need for it if you want CC only as updater. And the "solution" described here (just toggle the auto update of it off) isn't a real solution. That and the fact that "anonymous statistics" are sent without asking or informing the user are reasons why I wouldn't trust that client. Sorry but if it install CP and sends data without asking me why should I believe that it doesn't make other things I don't want!?

And I agree that the CC should display all addons and should let me choose from where (in Curse) I want to update them.

Postbank => Only for Buhl Data Premium Members

And according #1 and #2 they wan't money if you want to get money at cash point :P Like I already said only #3 is free ;) But you have to give them your pay statement -.- (whyever ... I don't want credits) and you have that whole CC risks; and Prepaid CC costs are too much if use CC only few times / year for these american shops who don't have other payment options ;) And XBox CC is prepaid and totally free but only if you are under age of 23 -.-

Like I said... I dislike these risky CC stuff especially because it's only needed for these once in a blue moon US-payments :D

Well at least they could say: "Here are our international bank account data so you can send us money" (and I still hope that it won't be a monthly fee :P). And I don't say that they should implement every payment option of every country but saying "well we are US guys, we commonly use CC and don't offer anything else" just justifys the typical stereotypes :P And you already said it... CC are nearly only because of US worldwide used (but still not common in every county ;-)).

Btw. in constrast to normal CCs the Prepaid CCs aren't available for free in germany, except you are under the age of X ;). And in germany there is only one bank (which is online-only) which offers totally free CCs ;).

In addition for vendors there are services which care for the payment options so that the vendor don't have to do it. For example Cl*ckandb*y which acts world wide.
