I was looking for a way to display an icon when a player get a specific debuff.
For exemple, to display it when a player has the Mark of the fallen champion debuff.
What i want to do is something like that:
If Unit has debuff X, then display icon.
Problem is, i don't know how to translate that in LUA.
Also, is there a way for the lua to display the icon of this specific debuff (with a GetIcon or something like that) ? Or do you have to go look yourself at which icon to display ?

Jun 17, 2009Ok, i've worked for quite some time to get to this, but it still doesn't work like i want :(Posted in: Unit Frames
What i want: when an ally doesn't have mark of the wild (or gift of the wild), make an icon appear. If the buff is there, but will fade soon (i used a 5min counter with dogtags), make the icon appear, but smaller.
The dogtag was like this (french names for buff and class):
[(if ((((Class(unit="player") = "Druidesse") or (Class(unit="player") = "Druide")) and (HasAura("Marque du fauve") and (AuraDuration("Marque du fauve") < 300))) or (HasAura("Don du fauve") and (AuraDuration("Don du fauve") < 300))) then
elseif (((Class(unit="player") = "Druidesse") or (Class(unit="player") = "Druide")) and (HasAura("Marque du fauve") or HasAura("Don du fauve"))) then
elseif ((Class(unit="player") = "Druidesse") or (Class(unit="player") = "Druide")) then
After reading on this post and others, i've made this in lua:
local i = 1
local fauve = true
while true do
local name,_,icon = UnitAura(unit,i,"HELPFUL")
if not name then
elseif name == "Marque du fauve" then
fauve = false
elseif name == "Don du fauve" then
fauve = false
i = i + 1
if fauve then
However, i still have some problems: first, it doesn't refresh. What i mean is, if i buff, the icon doesn't disappear unless i change target. And i also can't find the way to put the timer thing.
[Edit: found the way for it to refresh, using the events! Still missing the timer]
I also wanted a way to display the number of stacks of my lifebloom on someone.
Jan 8, 2009I installed LibDogTag-3.0 and LibDogTag-Unit-3.0, with still no result. I found in the Cowtip folder a Libs folder, already containing those libs. I thought it could be a bad version of them, so i changed them with latest versions of the libs (WoW-3.0-release-2), but still no result.Posted in: General AddOns
Vanilla tooltip shows the zone, in fact, if i deactivate the line's text in cowtip (the spot you check just above the dogtag help), zone is then displayed (but with vanilla tooltip).
Edit: Forgot to mention, i use the french version of the game. May the bug come from the fact the name of the zone is not in english?
Jan 8, 2009I know that, jokeyrhyme... But it doesn't show anything, even when the unit i mouseover is not in the same zone (in my screenshot, i was at naxxramas, and the unit was at orgrimmar...).Posted in: General AddOns
I tried erasing cowtip to install it again, using an older version of the addon, etc., but still got no results. I'm wondering if i could miss something not directly included in the addon (library, etc.)? I tried desactivating all other addons already, with no change, so it doesn't seem to be a conflict with another of my addons.
Jan 2, 2009That's what i have too, but i don't have the zone in the tooltip :(Posted in: General AddOns
Dec 31, 2008I'm new to cowtip, so i tried to configure it a bit, but I'm having problems with the "Zone" tag. I tried [Zone], [if IsPlayer then Zone], ... Whichever tag i use, it doesn't display the location of the characters i'm in group with.Posted in: General AddOns
Could someone help me with this?
Nov 16, 2008Seem the options for buffs in party/raid (castable/curable only) is not working. I tried clicking it, declicking, clicking again... but still all buffs are always displayed. This makes the addon impossible to use for me, as, playing a resto druid, I need to see which hots are on everyone, and the tons of buffs in a raid makes it a pain to see.Posted in: Unit Frames
