    Not sure if I am just being an idiot here or what, but it seems that this addon indicates diminishing returns have an 18 second duration instead of a 15 second duration. Is this intentional? If so is there a way to adjust it to 15 seconds?

    When there are 3 seconds remaining (according to this addon) I can land a new cyclone on somebody and it goes full duration. I could be doing something horribly wrong though.

    Ah. For some reason that wasn't there when I first installed it, (the little + icon didn't show up) but it's there now so all good.

    I don't suppose it's possible to make the icons expand to the right side of gladius as opposed to the left? Or to make the diminish count down show up as a number instead of a "clock"?

    Just a little feedback here, I don't think it is good practice to show pvp flags by default. Since you are pvp flagged pretty much everywhere you go on a pvp server, it makes grid feel a little like it wants to show you useless information. Veteran grid users like me wouldn't mind, but newbies might feel it's a bit spammy, especially given that it uses two indicators to do so by default (both of which happen to be some of the largest ones as well.)

    Also one of the first things I do when I configure grid from a fresh install is resize it to make the frames smaller. This can be really annoying to do in grid2 though, namely because when you shrink the size of the frame in grid2, it doesn't automatically space the text indicators away from the sides like grid1 does (and this is without using the scale option in grid1 btw, this is just plain adjusting the frame dimensions.) This causes problems in that for example the name text ends up occupying the same space as the indicators at the top of the frame.

    In order to get the same effect in grid2, you have to make a custom indicator location so that you don't break the rest of your indicators that used the same one. Making a custom indicator location also has its own set of problems in that it doesn't allow you to see where it actually ends up in real-time. That makes it a constant game of back and forth adjusting that location offset and then going back to your indicator to see where it ended up. While its not a total showstopper, it does make the initial configuration a bit clunky.

    One last thing to make configuration easier, one of the things that annoyed me about the original grid was that you had no way of making font sizes universal. I like the approach used in mik's scrolling battle text where you can have a master font setting, and then in sub-categories of the addon you could override the master setting if you wanted to. I'd like to see a similar approach in grid2.

    Some kind of hierarchy like master -> indicator type (corner text or center text) -> individual indicator

    In that case I think what would be ideal is if grid core could include an ability to configure bar indicators for whatever status you want, much as I described above.

    Then separately from core, as a module we could have Grid2StatusMana which we could set our bar indicator to follow. Also if somebody desires it, we could also have modules for (though to be honest I think their use would be limited to arena) Grid2StatusEnergy, Grid2StatusRage, and Grid2StatusRunicPower. And you could, at your option configure all of these to show up on the same bar indicator, and this would result in the same functionality as the existing GridManaBars.

    This would allow us to have an elegant system for easy to configure (by the user, within the UI) bars in the grid2 core, but while at the same time keeping the performance issues addressed in that, nobody would have any potential for such performance issues unless they installed Grid2StatusMana.

    By the way, I'm not sure I understand why this kind of addon would cause performance issues. In looking at what Elsia posted, it doesn't appear to be doing anything fundamentally different from what the health and heals bars already do (other than perhaps in a future version it will ask the other bars to scale differently in order to give itself some frame real estate, but I still don't understand why that would cause a performance issue.)

    In fact if anything I agree with what Elsia is thinking here. Why not allow more options as far as a bar type indicator? Say for example, somebody wants a bar to show up in grid for perhaps a short duration buff. Something along the lines of having a bar appear when I cast lifebloom, the bar starts at 100% going down to 0% indicating the time remaining on the buff. You could then allow these bars to change colors or even blink based on other factors (e.g. how many stacks of lifebloom changes the color of the bar.) Other options could include inverting that (e.g. buff starts with bar at 0%, moving up to 100% when the effect ends) changing where the bar starts from (e.g. 0% starts at the top, 100% ends at the bottom, or vice versa) as well as the location (along the top, along the side, etc.)

    This probably isn't something I would do in my own setup, but it might be something that somebody would find useful somewhere. If you could just add it in there without the need to go learn how to code lua (or find somebody who can) it would be pretty neat.

    This could also have the result of streamlining how the default frame is configured. For example now you'd have a framework setup where the person could configure their health bars to e.g. blink when they are low, change color when they are low, etc, all without needing one indicator for bar-health and another indicator for bar-health-color for example.

    I couldn't get this working. I checked out Grid2ManaBar.lua and Grid2ManaBar.toc from the SVN, and put them a directory named Grid2ManaBar in the interface/addons folder. It appears in the wow addon selection screen, so it looks like it is loading. But in the grid2 configuration screen the "bar-mana" status indicator doesn't appear. (Assuming this is the name based on what I am reading in the lua script itself.)

    EDIT: Made the rest of this into a separate post since it's unrelated to getting it working.

    LOL ya its been a long time since I've been part of the development crew of any project to be honest. In fact back then it was more fashionable to use CVS from a bash shell - the whole idea of a graphical revision control system is scary :D

    I don't know if massive is the correct wording I should use. However, of all of my addons, grid is by far the one I change the most from its default settings.

    If it helps though, I'll do a basic rundown of all of the indicators I use, starting with the side indicators. I've played as both a resto druid (pve and pvp) and a feral druid (I tank, dps, and pvp as feral)

    Top left shows wild growth, and at higher priority is an indication of whether or not the person has agro.

    Top middle shows if the person has either gift of the wild or mark of the wild, regardless of whether or not it came from me.

    Top right shows lifebloom duration. (Green if it has plenty of time left, yellow is running low, red is about to run out.)

    Left side indicator shows whether the person is under the effect of a heal reducing effect. (I picked the left side since it is where the health bar starts at zero health, which in my head says "that bar is going to resist moving towards the right if something is on the left" if that makes any sense.) Light red if it is a 20% MS such as mage frost/slow effect (name doesn't come to mind right now) or a shadowpriests mind flay. Dark red if it is a 50% MS such as Mortal Strike, Aimed Shot. Dark green if it is wound poison (which I then answer with an abolish poison.) White if they can't receive any heals at all (namely, they are cycloned.)

    Right side indicator is for viper sting - I'll dispell this off of my healer in the arena.

    Bottom left is for regrowth hot duration.

    Bottom middle is for if the target has thorns buff.

    Bottom right is for rejuvenate duration.

    I use 3 text indicators. Top text is for name. Middle text shows either dead, ghost, afk, offline, or incoming heal amount. Bottom text shows how many stacks of lifebloom is present (I'd rather have this in another side indicator though, just don't have any way of doing so without covering something else up.)

    Center icon indicates if somebody has a poison or curse I can dispell, and if so, merely shows its icon.

    Border indicator just shows if the target is selected.

    This is everything I can think of off of the top of my head, I might be forgetting something. This isn't including the font, size, spacing, frame color, and other changes I have made, but I can't really list those without actually digging around in the menus. Also the 20% MS effects aren't accurate for whether or not somebody is actually talented into these, just whether or not the debuff is there (not sure if its possible to make it accurate for that.)

    Is it possible to do this within the UI? At least, make one indicator color coded for a stack, and another color coded for time left? Currently in Grid1 I do this with GridStatusLifebloom and GridLifebloomStack. (I haven't yet taken the time to play with either Lua or the wow API, so doing such a thing myself wouldn't be trivial.)

    Though I did recently discover the blinking indicator option, I might give that a try, though I am still used to my current approach. I don't suppose it is possible to change the rate at which it blinks as the duration approaches zero? Or maybe change the blink rate to specific intervals after certain time remaining thresholds have been reached?

    Fully intend to :D as soon as I get the time to play with the SVN client anyways (I'm more of a CVS person.) And I perfectly understand why it won't be part of the core. I can see why most classes would consider that information to be not particularly useful, therefore its use would be limited. Just saying it would have a use to at least some of us.

    In my opinion, lifebloom would be a special case in that it needs two indicators - one for how many stacks are up, and another for its duration. I don't know if that should be a default setting for the sake of cleanliness or not, but as a druid myself I definitely have one indicator setup for each as managing both of these aspects of lifebloom is critical.

    Perhaps it wouldn't hurt to have one lifebloom duration and one lifebloom stack as default, but only setup an indicator for one as default.

    I disagree. As a feral druid I never use my own innervate. Low mana status will tell me who needs it, but it is a poor indicator of who needs it more. For example, it is much more important that I innervate a holy paladin with 1% mana than a priest with 15% mana.

    With a low mana indicator, I can't tell the difference between the two without targetting them individually, which I typically don't have time for. Having actual mana bars makes it a lot easier for me to quickly and more accurately make these kinds of decisions.

    I've been testing grid2 on the PTR, really liking it so far, but one little snag. The little disclaimer that says it will occasionally require a full settings reset - how often might this happen?

    I can deal with say maybe once every 4 months or so, but the changes I make from the default settings are pretty huge, so if it happens that say everytime a wow patch is released, and I need to update grid along with it, but all of my configurations are now broken, that might suck.

    Though grid2 is a LOT easier and less time consuming to set to my liking than the grid1 is (not to mention grid2 offers indicator options that I'd like to use that grid1 simply won't allow.)
