hooray, the option to use alpha or beta files!

question is, if I set it to use beta versions, and say for example, the newest version of an addon is a "release" version, will it install the latest "beta" or will it install the "release" which is newer?

Exactly, on both fronts. You'll have to go through all the old Ace addons and set them to ignore in the updater first, though. Then you'll be able to set their Curse ID.

are all of the libs on curse now? i'm using dis-embedded libs, so natrually I would need to manually add those aswell, using the ID from curse?

Jwow updater is pretty cool, I just updated my addons with it, but I have a question: the default source for updates, is that WoWace? as in, the old files.wowace directory, which is no longer updated?

and if that's the case, in order to update properly I need to manually set the ID's etc for the relative addons on curseforge now?

    thanks

There is no longer a single repository that contains every addon. Each addon has a completely separate repository, which may be either a SVN, Git, or Mercurial (Hg) repository.

This is incorrect. Within the client, you will click on an addon to update. A dialog will appear that contains a button to click on to update the addon, and an ad graphic. Once the update is complete, the dialog will close, and you can click on the next addon. The process does not involve visiting addon pages on the website.

If you are updating 3 addons per day, the process will add 5 clicks and about 30 seconds versus an "automatically update all" process. It will also show you 3 ads which generate revenue for Curse to help pay for the cost of bandwidth, to offset the fact that you aren't seeing the ads on their website.

I can't imagine 5 clicks and 30 seconds being so great a burden as to warrant all of the complaints about it. It seems like a lot of people posting in this thread haven't tried the client, or even read the information about it. The client has some major usability issues right now, and is completely lacking in advanced functionality, but the basic updating process is not a problem.

i'm not sure where all this "5 clicks" etc business is coming from, from what I can tell, you can select multiple addons and click "Update", and it updates all the selected addons.. so you can simply select the entire list and hit "update" and it's fine.. what's the problem?

"what is the svn repo" is the key phrase there i was working off of.. sorry

Each project has been put in to it's own repo, you can follow the general format of

    svn://svn.wowace.com/wow/<project-name>/mainline/trunk

tho you might end with looking each one up manually. You'll need WAU set to not "Skip SVN working Copies", and an installed CLI-SVN client. This allows WAU to en-mass update svn addons. Tho i only recommend you doing this if you are a beta tester / addon developer as this setup is not supported by anyone and lible to get you flamed.

the whole reason I used WAU to get immediate updates was because I thought that I *was* testing the addons for the authors, I always posted bugs in IRC and they were promptly fixed, I thought I was helping, and now i'm expected to download year-old versions from the Curse client? :/

Yeah, I know we'll only have to update 2 or 3 addons per day. But if I want to do it manually, I'd have to go to every addon's page to do it. And that's not nice.

Ok, I think CC shows the addons that are outdated and you can click on them manually to update it. But, considering the logic, if only a few addons are updated per week, why should I pay for a service that does it automatically? Automate the thing for only 4 addons at max?

Again, this kind of Premium Service, imo, is not a good idea, it'll only bring problems.

what? are you telling me that unless I pay curse, I can't just press "update" to update all the addons, I literally have to go to every page and update them manually? the client only tells me when an update is available? is that what is going to happen? if so, fuck curse and fuck this merger with curse, that is complete bullshit.

im sorry, if your asking these kind of questions you need to research out what SVN is, and how we use it here. If you don't want to do that, it's ok - beta testing is not for everyone. Stick to manually downloading addon from curse.com and try out the curse client. --PLEASE Read the other threads on the curse client first before trying it, there are some things u need to do first.

no, I don't, I know how to use SVN and I have used it a lot in the past, I merely want to know the address, am I supposed to guess, or pull it randomly out of my ass? the only one I could find was .wowace but it didn't work

posted a message on how to distribute my UI now?
using the curse client, I don't see any way to have the libs external, so now I have libs inside every single addon, and now my UI is like 50-60mb, rather than 10-20mb, how am I supposed to upload this via http to wowinterace etc?

sunwind, it's never going to get back the way it was... sorry.

Best you can do if you want the truly bleeding edge of things... do an SVN checkout of all your addons off of the new repos (one project/addon per repo now) then use WAU with Ignore SVN working copies off. make sure you install an SVN client. but be warned, this is not an intended use.

what is the svn repo and if i'm using an svn client to check out updates and synchronize the addons to the latest SVN version, what do I need WAU for?

    thanks

how do I make the curse client download "Beta" versions of addons? for example, Fubar - GuildFu was updated a few hours ago, but it is marked as Beta, the latest "Release" version was in 2007, and the curse updater is downloading the 2007 release, when I previously had the newest release from WAU a week ago, ?
