So my hunch didn't pan out, and in the end I just messed with dimensions until I found some that worked. The numbers I ended up with didn't come close to any math I thought might make sense, so I apparently don't know enough about how wow's coordinate and widths system works.
Regardless, in the end I got what I wanted. Thanks for your help :)

I always mess with my UI it seems, and I always wanted a nice piece of art behind. I hope I pulled that off finally, and I'm quite happy with it so far. I created the art, but got the idea from a post on wow forums.
Mods that matter:
Grid (handles party+ unit frames)
Fubar, and assorted plugins for it
PallyPower (my main is a pally)
And probably some stuff I can't remember. I want to do something with my buffs, so that's probably my next step.
Mar 25, 2009I get the normalized screen res bit (Quake 3 makes this much easier, you just have a 640x480 coord system regardless of resolution). It just doesn't apply directly to the frame widths, apparently.Posted in: AddOn HELP!

If wow sets the height of the screen to 768, and then matches my aspect ratio of 5:4, my max x coord should be 960.
That just doesn't make sense to me because two panels both set to 512 width do not overlap.
In the end I can just screw with the scale until the right and left panes go just past the bounds of the screen, but I'd rather understand the math behind it and get it right.
Mar 25, 2009I am trying to make some art for a UI that spans my entire screen. My native res is 1280x1024, so that is what I use in-game. I don't use the ui scale, so it's whatever the default is.Posted in: AddOn HELP!
I made up art that is 1280px wide and 150px tall. I cut that up into 3 pieces: 2 at 512x256px and one at 256x256px. They're targas with the proper alpha channel, and the images work well in game. My problem is with the widths of the panels.
I created 3 panels, one for each piece of art. I set their size to the size of their background (512x256 and 256x256). The problem is that, with the panel scale set to 1, the combined widths of all 3 panels is much wider than my screen. I had to mess with the scale of the panels to get the width close to fill the entire screen, but there are a few pixels on either side of blank space now.
How do I properly set up these panels so that they span the ENTIRE screen?
Oct 15, 2008It would seem more logical to determine whether a mod needs updating based on actual version numbers than release date. If someone releases a mod that has problems today, and immediately comes out with a fix, the client won't see that an update is available. The client would have then failed at its job.Posted in: Updaters
