Dec 1, 2008You could try combining /who's by matching your "acquaintances" why approximate name.Posted in: Lua Code Discussion
Say you have Dorkwarrior and Supahwarrior in your list. Doing a /who on warrior might return them both at once. If it works (as in, the second doesn't get pushed off the list by 5134 other chars w warrior in their name) you won yrself a query. If it doesn't, nothing lost...
Unless off course they BOTH get pushed off :p
Dec 1, 2008As I've heard and read everywhere, Kompozer (a derivative of Nvu) produces relatively "clean" code. Relatively being a keyword of course. No WYSIWYG-editor of any language will ever produce as optimized code as a veteran programmer will. But it CAN save tons of time of efficiency isn't top priority.Posted in: Lua Code Discussion
Let it not be mistaken. I abhor and detest the use of Word as a webpage editor. I admit to having used it when I was young and gullible (haven't we all in one form or another?), but today It'd have to be at gunpoint before I go down that road again.

Thnx a TON for the feedback. Been setting up a copy of wow with nothing but BeneCast and !BugGrabber/BugSack to test it out, but RL suddenly caught up w me again and I just never found some time to test it myself. I'll get right on that...
BTW: How is the fading? When I tested previous versions on my pally my buttons were faded out all the time (due to my stance-checking code). I added a fix to that in this beta and I'd like to know if it works out ok...
Ok, fixed the lua error... Try r120 alpha version to see what it does now please!
Nov 26, 2008I was just going to ring up with "an addon that makes his own buttons can put macro's inside them, and you can have as many of those as you have space on your screen" when I saw Phanx's post which said it all and more :D.Posted in: Addon Ideas
Nov 26, 2008I can see Phanx's solution being viable. God knows it can only improve the general chat channels. It would have to take into account wow slang off course (Mankrik's wife anyone?). Heck, it could 'learn' by reading quest descriptions and incorporating those words into it's dictionary :D!Posted in: Addon Ideas
Don't talk to any dwarfs 'n trolls though :p...

I agree that knowing why is a helpful thing.
Funny though.. Strictly from a computer-science standpoint, bots are a fascinating subject full of promise and interesting challenges. From a game playing point of view, and from Blizzard's perspective they're really evil and must be destroyed.
A truth if there ever was one...
Nov 26, 2008won't using weak tables cause the garbage collector to clean up your table more than you want it to?? I mean, ... I assume making one table and letting it persist throughout the whole session is favorable over one table where the members are constantly being made and cleaned up... Or will it become so huge that you don't want to have it in the table permanently??Posted in: Lua Code Discussion
Nov 25, 2008I'd like people that don't use PitBull to test what BeneCast does for them. This because I've been struggling with some funky stuff and I don't know it's because PitBull does all kinds of weird things to it's unit frames or because of BeneCast itself...Posted in: General AddOns
Classes that should work are:
Shamans, Warlocks and Warriors are out of luck with being in the back of the alfabet and me giving up halfway in favor of getting the code to work first. Death Knight ... well they WERE still in beta when I started BeneCast 10 :p.
See the Usage Page on http://www.wowace.com/projects/benecast/ for more info on... well, usage off course...
Nov 25, 2008I'm curious, why did you move the declaration of name and standingId inside the loop?Posted in: Lua Code Discussion
If it's a matter of scope isn't it smarter performancewise not to re-declare the vars every loop?
If it's a matter of data-integrity (not re-initializing them each loop = A Bad Thing) isn't it sufficient to do
name = nil
standingId = nil
Just asking because I wanna learn...
