Dec 8, 2008I strongly recommend AceGUI-3.0 as well. I started doing the whole thing by myself first. Then discovered Waterfall (which was Ace2) and then finally found AceConfigDialog-3.0. Now any GUI I wanna do I first try it w AceConfigDialog-3.0, but if that wouldn't work I'll use AceGUI for sure...Posted in: Lua Code Discussion
Dec 3, 2008Posted in: Unit FramesQuote from OddibleWhy is Pitbull not updated on Curse? This is highly unfortunately since the WoWAce Updater is now gone and Curse Client is doing a pretty good job of keeping things in order.
Came to the forums completely confused why the DK glyphs bar hasn't been fixed yet. Notice Curse has an update date of 10/16 and the update on WoWAce is 11/28!?! OK, I don't want to have to go back to the old method of manually updating all of my addons but Pitbull is a 'can't live without' addon.
Please maintain the most recent release on Curse CK!
Synchronization between wowace and curse is automatically. That is, there is none. They both draw from the same repositories and package-database. Anything over Alpha will be visible on Curse without intervention from the dev.
That is at least how my addons behave...
Dec 3, 2008Posted in: General AddOnsQuote from jaredheathhonestly, I don't have any idea what this addon is/does.
You have lots of documentation on how to set it up...but absolutely no description that I can find.
Maybe you can update the first page to have some level of description?
Your level of "absolutely no description" differs from mine:
- The last chapter of the main page is called "WHAT" (as in "what is BeneCast").
- The very first line is a 1-line description of what it does
Nevertheless, you have made apparent that the information is not that easy to find, so I will make changes towards it.
EDIT: Done, whadya think?
Dec 3, 2008Posted in: Lua Code DiscussionQuote from XinhuanAnd if anyone is reading this, be careful using the above to clone a table. If your original table contains a reference to a frame (which is a table), the frame nor its methods get copied, because the methods are from a metatable. If you are referencing a frame, you DO want to copy the reference to the frame, not deep copy it.
if typeof(v) == "table" then
should be changed to
if typeof(v) == "table" and not v.GetObjectType then
Note also, the deep copying function didn't attempt to copy metatables either, either via reference or via deepcopying. Usually won't need it however.
*changes own deep table-copy function accordingly
Xinhuan, you really need to update your sig to "helping noobs code better" or something. Or at least "involuntary mentor of Wintrow" :p.
Dec 3, 2008Posted in: General AddOnsQuote from nrpieperHow to get started?
I'm currently using a hacked older version of BeneCast, and I would love to start helping test this update. I created a fresh clean test env. Can you post a sample saved vars file for a Priest? When I load the addon (with nothing else loaded) all I see is two overlapping small boxes under the player frame and target frame. I can't figure out how to add any custom buttons.
I made a page for that (which I also mention on the main page) which you should check out.
If it's not complete or clear enough just gimme a holler here or by posting a ticket (tickets are great, they let me organize and separate issues).
Also note that you should use r120 for testing atm.
Dec 2, 2008Posted in: Lua Code DiscussionQuote from egingellJust to nit pick, testing if a frame is shown inside its OnUpdate handler is redundant as the handler only runs when the frame is shown.
I've been looking at that code for like 5 minutes thinking there was "something wrong" with it and for some doped up reason it didn't click. I feel relieved (in a non-disgusting sense).
