Looks like the last version of JWU is dying or is just barely holding on. Nothing pointing to WowAce will update or reinstall, and pointing to WowInterface will look like it's downloading, but it actually won't. Only addons pointed to Curse will actually move any data.

Not a complaint, just an observation to let anyone else in the same boat know it's not just them.

(edit)I took a look at the dates in the Handle Addons section. The date is now listed as "0" after an addon is updated. When it's zero, it will never update or reinstall. Changing the JWU db XML to make the date -1 will work, but it would have to be edited by hand every time.(/edit)

What are you bumping? This program is dead.

There are still people willing to continue from where it left off, if they had the chance. I wouldn't necessarily call that dead.

Oh well. I guess I'll keep using my version till it's busticated (odds of that happening in about 8 days = high). :(

How do you figure that? We have the more current game version than what's on the WotLK discs. If JWU is working now, then it should still work after the 13th barring massive reorganization on *all* the sites holding your preferred addons.

Like all things, try using it properly. Maybe if you read up on how to use it properly (Like that's going to happen) you might be singing a different tune.

And just what the hell is that supposed to mean? I'm not some "u giv addons nao!" kid. The Curse Client tried to foist those extra addons on my the very first time I ran it. Before I could even start to configure it it wanted to grab CurseProfiler.

JWU doesn't download *any* addon that I don't tell it to get first. It works (no matter what I'm running, it works), and I trust it more than I trust the Curse Client.

don't bother IMO, CC functionality is easier to use. That and i run WoWI's updater along side it and works prefectly for what i use.

I don't trust an updater that decides I need addons I didn't ask for. Why does Curse Client decide I need EluneDKP or CurseProfiler? And after I delete those, why does Curse Client keep putting them back? Those aren't libraries, so they have no business coming anywhere near my computer if I don't want them there.

What you're doing is using a fuckton of bandwidth (depending on the number of addons you have) for no good reason. If you have 150 addons, and five have been updated in the past week, you're still downloading 150 addons. If enough people start doing this, we'll probably start seeing every addon distribution site go to registration-only and/or capcha downloads.

This is the same problem WAU had - munching bandwidth and costing insane amounts of money - except for the fact that it was restricted to files.wowace.com.

I think the original problem may be more where he's pointing JWU to update from. The dates on addons I update via Curse don't match up with the dates from WowAce or WowInterface. I ran JWU this morning and it updated just fine.

All the dates for addons I update from Curse are still 9/29. Addons from WowAce and WowInterface are far more recent. Yeah, I'm updating from WoAce, but just from the "Update" button.

So it looks like there's a problem with Curse's dates, and since JWU is a stalled project, it doesn't look like it's going to be fixed any time soon (I won't say JWU is "dead" since there are a number of people expressing interest in continuing it's development).

(Edit: and confirmed: JWU *does* still update. Just updated Cart3, PitBull and oRA2.)

Yes I did.. same error message. I get the same message when I try to 'open' the file instead of saving it. It's only 2kb. Anyone know if that's what it's supposed to be?

Or.. will there be a fix to the addon. I have turned off the player status module, but would love to have the whole thing working the way it was before.

    Thanks for responding!

The addon itself has updated a couple of times since this issue became known. Have you updated recently?

Surprised to see nothing on WowInsider about this yet.

It's beyond time to show the world just how many keyloggers have originated from worldofwar.net.

Every time I read about an infected addon, it came from worldofwar.net. Is there anything there that *isn't* a keylogger?

I think Panda Attack is the pvponline.com guild? penny-arcade.com has one on the same server named Fancy Lads or something I think.

I thought about adding a 3rd option, but it felt like a cop-out and I figured people would just pick whatever. I probably should have worded it "what is your preferred faction" but that sounded too mushy too. Oh well :\

Yeah, I'd have swapped the options if I knew it was going to do that lol. Yellow even fits for neutral.

Yes, Panda Attack is the guild of PvP the comic and Scott Kurtz. Further adventures of the Panda Attack crew is now documented at Ding! hosted by Crispy Gamer. (I was not there the night our MT accidentally DE'd his weapon, but it actually happened)

The Penny Arcade guys don't play much anymore (if at all, compared to Scott, who raided Hyjal with us last night :)), and Fancy Lads is just one of the Penny Arcade Alliance (PAA) guilds. Other PAA guilds include The CTS Dojo, Disciples of Divx, and Knights of Annarchy.
