    posted a message on Button Bin - Minimalistic LDB display addon
    Is it possible for ButtonBin to create secure action buttons instead of regular buttons for blocks ? In the current state, a secure plugin is limited by the display.

    Along with it, attaching a reference of the created button to the data object would be great, so we can setup the secure button actions before entering combat.

    (Sorry for the spam :p)

    I use delayed load for alot of addons, but those that use "IsUserPlaced/SetUserPlaced" can't benefit from the layout storage.

    Is there a workaround ?

    Use "self" instead of "this".

    There's a reason my sample includes "self", it's to show that weird behavior of "self" returning "nil" and "this" returning what "self" should have returned :)

    As for arg2, it's been over a year now that I use it in my own chat.

    Sorry if I wasn't clear, I was replying to Phanx.

    posted a message on ChatFrame_AddMessageEventFilter or ???
    That's weird, I can still access global "arg2" and "this" inside the handler.

    I typed the code below in a Hack page and executed, then "/say test" and the result was:

    FOUND ChatFrame1 Ara nil
    FOUND ChatFrame3 Ara nil

    That's an improvement: before, it was always processed 7 times, even with just one chat tab. But it's still far from perfect and to optimize you still have to store the result on "this==ChatFrame1" and return the stored result on other char frames, to avoid processing more than once.

    local function filter(msg)
        if msg == "test"  then
            print( "FOUND", this and this:GetName() or "nil", arg2 or "nil", self or "nil" )
            return true
        end
    end

    ChatFrame_AddMessageEventFilter("CHAT_MSG_SAY", filter)

    posted a message on Broker_WeaponBuffer (well... it's actual name isnt even close :P)
    I just checked with Fortress and couldn't make it work, whereas I don't have any problem with SBC.

    My main concern is: to my knowledge there is no LDB display that handle secure action buttons. So I have to do tricky things and the result depends of the display implementation...

    All I can is to not use secure buttons for blocks (no more 1-click refresh) and change the menu to a classic (non-secure) one that can't be used in combat.

    posted a message on Undocumented COMBAT_LOG_EVENT arguments
    Kagaro: would it be possible to get the src unit and src name fields set for SPELL_AURA_REFRESH to indicate whos dot was renewed
    Slouken: Yes, although if person A applied the buff, and person B renewed it, you'd get the src as person A. Is that useful?
    Kagaro: Yes that would be useful. same would apply for APPLIED_DOSE as well.

    It was 3 weeks ago. Someone, please, ask news about it. I fear they turn it down if there's not much demand. Im dying for it :p

    posted a message on replacement for tablet lib?
    Quote from Adirelle
    • no need for icon (use fontstring escape codes),
    • no need for colors (use fontstring escape codes),
    • scrollable ? (i.e. limit the maximum number of shown lines)

    About the icon implementation, I really dont like fontstring escape code:
    - it hardly scale (you will have to check for the scale size to format the embedded size fields, provided you have the 100% scale value)
    - it doesnt handle SetTexCoord (a not so rare need IMO)
    - the text could be mangled (noises) depending of the scale
    - there's some wrapping issues maybe linked to GetStringWidth/Height not handling "|T" code properly.

    Im sure the icon implementation can be simple and efficient, yet powerful.

    The color thing can be handled in 1-3 lines and it could help devs tremendously (sometimes it's a hassle to "|cff....|r" every single cell).

    How about an implementation with cascading metatables ?

    --> entry.KEY not found ? look cat
    --> cat.KEY not found ? look col
    --> col.KEY not found ? look default/base table

    And with an open format devs could directly modify these data.

    Also, IMO, the author that use the lib should work in collaboration, using the same table recycling methodes, mostly "new(...)", when passing entry/cat/col informations to tablet. No field parsing please, it's horrible in all aspects :P.

    posted a message on Checking glyph changes.
    Im searching for the best way to check glyph changes. Looking at FrameXML, the only event that relates to glyphs is "GLYPHFRAME_OPEN" and it's not really interesting.

    I plan to hook "RemoveGlyphFromSocket" and "PlaceGlyphInSocket" waiting for a better solution ._.

    EDIT: my bad, I missed the events GLYPH_ADDED, GLYPH_REMOVED and GLYPH_UPDATED.
