posted a message on TinyTip v2
I'm not sure I understand. TinyTip can apparently be configured via means of adjusting parameters in the StandAloneConfig.lua file in its directory. However, we're encouraged to download and install TinyTipModules as well, which does not have any menu CLI nor GUI, nor any obvious means to adjust parameters. So...should I presume the current recommended method is to NOT install TinyTipModules, and instead wait til it's ready, and in the meantime, only use the StandAloneConfig.lua file? Sorry if this comes off angry, but I'm legitimately confused as to why TTM exists for download when it impedes the only configuration method available to TT.

I haven't touched those skin settings in a very long time, as I just use cyCircled or custom button border textures.
Aha! That likely explains it then. I went on a cleaning spree for addons I didn't use anymore, and I believe CyCircled was on the list. Thought I was using the built-in dreamlayout, but I guess not. FWIW, they aren't working right now though.

What Dreamlayout mod? I've never seen a BT3 Dreamlayout mod, and there isn't one on the svn. BT3 allows you to select from default, dream, or zoomed on its own, I thought.
My mistake. I thought I had a separate line item for "Bartender3-Dreamlayout", but alas, I just doublechecked, and I am wrong. Sorry about that. However, changing the style between those 3 themes has no impact. Console reloadui and log out/in after changing the style doesn't help either. Other functions do work fine (adding buttons, changing OOR highlights), but not this function.

    Hi folks,

Has the BT3 Dreamlayout mod become broken of late? I have the most recent installs of both addons, and cannot get Dreamlayout to display (in fact, only the default works - Zoomed fails as well). Any ideas? TIA.

Has anyone got this addon to work? Almost any configuring and it breaks. Are people just using it with defaults or are they using an old version and ignoring all updates? /mourn saien
I'll admit, the new configuration method is pretty frustratingly buggy. However, to "/mourn saien" is ludicrous. Autobar has taken huge steps and made huge improvements since Saien stopped developing it well over a year ago, and we have Toadkiller to thank for all those efforts. I get the frustration, but it's out of line to crap on the current developer when things go wonky, especially in a freeware project. Toad's been far more responsive (and less rude) than Saien ever was. Just a thank you to Toad for those of us that appreciate the time you spend making our WoW gameplay better.

I appear to be having the same problem with the alpha other folks do. I normally have 5-7 buttons enabled, and those categories appear to be checked properly (hearthstone, mount etc.). Looking underneath at the old school layer and categories configuration menu, I can see the various categories look to be filled in with category names (e.g. for the mount slot, I see 3 items: MOUNTS, MOUNTS_FLYING and MOUNTS_QIRAJI, but the icons for each of the categories is the placeholder "gift package" icon). I manually fixed one of the easier ones by selecting the hearthstone category (whose single entry reads HEARTHSTONE), and then selected that item, scrolled through the selections and found Hearthstone, selected and it filled in fine. I can likely do that for the others too, but figured I'd advise of my findings and give you a chance to figure out if it's a category bug or what. Thanks again TK.

Oh and BTW, very glad to see the menu system and bar style switching to Ace2 and BT3. While I'm used to the old method, I like the common interface.

edit: and if it helps, I'm a troll priest.

posted a message on Baggins - Official Thread
Just starting using Baggins today, and goddamn if it's not everything I've ever wanted in a bag mod. I fooled around with the placement of bag categories, but then saw the All-in-One format, switched, and I'm sticking with it. Great job.

One possible bug I noted today: using the default Potions category for a new bag heading (called, shockingly enough, Potions :) ), I noticed several elixirs don't get caught and considered potions. From memory, these included Adept's Elixir, Elixir of Healing Power, and Elixir of Mastery. Oddly though, the older Elixir of the Sages did get properly flagged as a potion. Just a heads up on the issue. Thanks again for the terrific mod.

Looooooooves me some Bartender3 :) It's working great for my priests, warrior and druid. However, I started a Blood Elf warlock, and I'm curious about pets = stances. Specifically, I don't like the look and feel of the Petbar (nothing against Bar3, just don't like pet bars :) ). I'd like to be able to have a given bar (say, bar 3) be swapped out given the presence of different pets. That way, I can put triggerable pet effects on their own hotbar, and then swap between them as need be. Is this possible? Please advise. Thanks.

Two things.. first off, why do people keep saying that, now that an AddOn is using Ace Shared Libraries, it's magically better all of a sudden? I imagine it helps some with keeping Toadkiller sane from a coding point of view but my Ace-enabled AddOns do not glow or shine with an aura of Ace-power that sets it apart from the rest. They don't all use less memory than before. None of my Ace AddOns share a consistent configuration UI. And a great many, including this fine one, have bugs. All I can truly attribute to Ace is that it might make a programmer's life easier when creating WoW mods, adds at least one extra folder to the AddOn for the On Demand config file, and puts green text in the AddOn window so that I know it is made with Ace. Can you please tell me why you (and others I've seen) say that Ace automatically makes it great?
Two reasons above and beyond ones you already highlighted (easier for new programmers, and reduced memory usage):
The use (and reuse) of common libraries can make complex addons more easily understood, hacked and improved by other authors. Hackability is a good thing.
    • Autobar had been orphaned by its original author (Saien) when he left WoW. It remained somewhat functional for several months, but it was definitely showing its age. When Toadkiller took it over, he improved it substantially and restored luster to one of the best addons ever.
And secondly, if you open AutoBarConfig.toc and find the LoadOnDemand entry, I believe if you change the ## LoadOnDemand: 1 to ## LoadOnDemand: 0 or delete it altogether, that will make it load when all the other AddOns are loaded as well. I haven't tested it myself but my primitive understanding of LUA suggests this to be how it works.
My primitive understanding of LUA is clearly more primitive than yours, but that surely makes sense to me :) I'll give it a shot. Thanks.

First off, thanks for making Autobar an Ace addon. It was good before, it's great now. However, I do note an issue upon initial load on where Autobar gets placed. With no docking enabled, and Autobar moved to the lower right-hand corner, whenever I log in, appx. half the bar gets pushed offscreen. If I load the config addon, the bar jumps to where I'd originally placed it. I'm presuming this means that one of the functions required for placement isn't saving correctly in Autobar's settings. As a workaround, I'd like to set up Autobar Config to always load, not just load-on-demand, but a permafix would be nice too. Thanks again.
