posted a message on Making a Mod
    Quote from saitoh183 »

I've been wanting to try and make my own mod using Ace2 but i dont know anything about programming in Lua...so i have a few questions.

1- What applications to you Devs use to make your mods?

2- Where to start looking to learn how to make a mod (Lua.org for basics...then?)

3- can you test and modify while you play?

4- can you guys give me ref URL's to help?

    thx

    1. any texteditor you like would be a good start
2+4. wowace.com should be sufficient to start developing with ace2 ;) (at least there are all the links you really need to get to know the basics of lua)
    3. sure!

overall: just look how other addons are doing things, there you can learn the most imo

I guess if I want buffs to show below the unit frame and debuffs to show above the unitframe, I will have to create my custom theme?

imo it isn't possible at all ... at least until ag revamps the buff-system ;)

Any chance to add a setting for Font size/scale to make it easier to see the labels without having to scale the whole thing up?

scaling the fontsize on the other hand can be done by editing the themes :P ..

please get rid of all those stupid sub forums or at least reduce their number dramatically. like: raid, class specific, fubar, other.
there is no way i will check all those 17 forums for new posts or even new addons!
even if you are searching for a specific addon it would take forever to find it, as most fit in more than one category

Any way to add some kind of sign on the player frame if your in combat or not?

you could at least read the last page of the thread ;)
ag just mentioned there that it is on his to-do list, and pastamancer is even already working on it

...For bigwigs think you need to replace it in CandyBar

if I'm not completely mistaken BantoBar is allready the default texture for CandyBar since revision 9979, at least for the version here: http://svn.wowace.com/root/trunk/CandyBar/CandyBar-2.0/

for ocb you could try to grab ocb2 from the branches, BantoBar should be already included there as a texture option.

Forgive me if this has already been answered (36pages...), but is it possible to set a frame as always show? I love this option for the purpose of setting my frames. It beats hunting down 5 people (or waitiing until raid time for 40) to set my party and raid frames.

    Thanks

unfortunately not, but this is definitely something that belongs on ags to-do list :P

posted a message on let's call it DropWood ;)
OK, there is these really nice looking Ace2-TotemTimer-addon: GotWood
The only thing i really miss as a shaman regarding Ace2 mods is a nice Totem organisation/button bar.

I believe nearly every shaman knows this problem. You can
    a) keep a lot of bars on screen with all your totems you will >eventually< need or
    b) download an addon like Call of Elements (*cough* memory abuse *cough*) to manage your totems.
Unfortunately there is no Ace addon doing this job. :(
I'm currently using DAB to create some sort of totem menu, but this isn't much better memory-wise than CoE. -.-

attached is a mokup, to show how i imagine such an addon could look like.

some features i would like to see, that are not visible in the mokup:
    - sort elements in the "Main Bar" and totems in the "Drop Bar"
    - choose which totems appear in the specific element's "Drop Bar" (p.e. to exclude stoneclaw totem o.O)
    - support for some of these nice ace2 cooldown addons floating around :P

i would be really grateful if someone could create something like this as i don't even have a slight clue of lua.

whats that mod up the top right of your screen marking the captures?

And what unit frames are you using?

that's AG_UF with the oUF Layout and my lovely BantoBar Texture *drool*

    2. It seems you can print custom infos in the bars, is there a tuto or a list somewhere with all the keywords useable and their usage ??
    3. I like the ability to link group frames, but is there a way to modify the space between them ? and is it possible to invert order, so that i can anchor them bottom of the screen ??
    ...

    2. ag really should add this to the first post o.O
    http://www.wowace.com/forums/index.php/topic,1715.msg36498.html#msg36498
    3. both no, at least in the moment :(
but i hope things like that will be implemented in a not so distant future ;)

Any chance of adding "Soulstone Resurrection" to the list of buffs to display for warlock characters with "Filter Auras" turned on?

i'm not sure about that, but i think this was some hardcoded stuff on blizzards side :(

But what i really miss is..
    ...
    3. The color-level-by-difficulty-thing
    4. the ability to add a "+" for Elite Targets. :)

    Any possibilities for me there?

check the Watchdog tags here: http://www.wowace.com/forums/index.php/topic,1715.msg36498.html#msg36498
[difficulty] and [plus] should be what you are searching for ;)

    But: I really miss:
    c) a list of strings for the Status text (especially what is the String for % ?) I really need it for the bosses. [curhp]/[maxhp]/(percentstring)

if i understand you correctly, then you are searching for the watchdog tags that are already implemented into AGUF
there is a nice overview on page 21: http://www.wowace.com/forums/index.php/topic,1715.msg36498.html#msg36498

How come my target of target frame does not show combat text? (sorry if this has been asked already)

there is an option to activate the tot combat text if i'm not mistaken. Just check the options of this frame.

st0nedpenguinm, I've seen it in a few other shots on a few pages here but haven't found a reference, what's the minimap mod you're using?

guessing from the look an the high memory consumption it should be made with Discord Art + Frame Modifier ;)

Wow, what can I say. This layout is just FANTASTIC. You build it with DUF?

it's done in Photoshop, so no ingame-thingy yet :(
i don't really like DUF, it takes to much effort to make the frames as dynamic as i need them :)
