Jan 9, 2006I disabled Reputation when Blizzard introduced their Reputation, however, as usual, Blizzard did a piss poor attempt. It only tells you for the faction the quest relates to, however alot of quests reward rep for the whole faction, i.e. Ironforge + Gnome + Stormwind which the Blizzard didn't show. Also I hate the idea of having to mouse over each line, how annoying!Posted in: Addon Ideas
If anyone can get this fixed, i'd be very happy too!
Jan 4, 2006Posted in: Addon IdeasQuote from "Orione" »Ok, I'm picking up AutoBuff, sort of. It's going to be completely different, and will be dependent on KeyMinderPhoenix. I have a rough version now that's untested, but it looks like it will work decently. Also, I'm having some trouble with saving buffs, so it will probably be limited to 5 or 10 buffs, atleast for now. The way I have it set up, it's under 70 lines of code. It will grow, I expect, but shouldn't be much.
I started looking at redoing AutoInnerFire which is a very simple priest self-auto-buff. I used KeyminderPhoenix, but also SpecialEvents. It has a buff-lost (SPECIAL_PLAYER_BUFF_LOST) plus a few other, like being mounted. Might help reduce some code further.
Hope this might help.
Dec 26, 2005Very weird, but I noticed recently I no longer have anything that reports co-ord on the map. No idea what used to display it and now doesn't but they have gone now!Posted in: General Chat
Does anyone know an addon that can do this which is small, simple and lightweight?
Dec 6, 2005I know this reply is rather belated, but I'm just beginning to learn LUA to create Ace Addons too and I also checked this thread.Posted in: Lua Code Discussion
So far the single best starting place I've found is the thread Stylpe mentioned, but jump to Page 3 and get Touchdown-Commented by Rowne.
I'm about to go back and read the Class notes and I know these will now make so much more sense!
Dec 6, 2005Thanks for taking this up Orione.Posted in: Addon Ideas
I was actually going to do this as my first project. I am currently going through the documentation in the Classroom. Unfortuately, I don't have much spare time between RL commitments, playing and now Xmas, but i'm slowly getting there.
Seeing you've done the basics, maybe I can take what you've done and then as part of my learning I can implement the additional features I'd like to see?
Features I was looking for was:
* Multiple pages with each page having a title. I like the idea fo FuncBook being able to create unlimited pages.
* Assigning Notes to players, then some sort of visiual notification when you have a note about a player. Ideally I was thinking some "mark" in the tooltip, maybe a * before/after name or a seperate line saying "Player Noted", alternatively, a output to the chatbox.
* Advanced features would be:
- auto-note players you group with (gotta consider size here), maybe somehow determine what instances you do. A bit like what Karma did but not as detailed.
- ability to store specific notes about a player, e.g. Professions/ Class/ Level/ Guild/.
- ability to search for something, eg. all enchanters, or all Priests.
Ok, off to read some more Classnotes!
Dec 5, 2005Quite possibly. I saw FuncBook as a development tool so automaticially discarded it.Posted in: Addon Ideas
Thanks for the suggestion, I'll download it and try it out.
I've also decided I should get off my rear end and learn some LUA so if I get actually get somewhere, this could be my first project! I'm going through your class notes atm and have to say, they are very good. I'm a complete programming 'n00b' so need it explained in very simple terms. Good work (yet again!).
Dec 4, 2005I was wondering if anyone has been looking at doing a decent in-game notepad/jotter type addon?Posted in: Addon Ideas
I started using Jotter-K which was satisfactory for what I wanted (much like Parchment). I then saw NoteUNeed which was much better way, with a list of notes and could assign notes to Players that popped up when you targetted them.
Recently though they've gone WAY over the top with Quest/Item/NPC logging and with Warmup it now has the honours of one of my biggest and slowest addons which is pretty sad for a Notepad!
What i'd like to see is what NotesUNeed started off as, a list of notes, with the ability to add notes to players (who aren't on my friends list) and some sort of notification in the tooltip when a player has a note (NotesUNeed has a seperate tooltip/box popup with the entire note!). One thing NuN also did which I thought was pretty cool, it auto-creates a note abou yourself and adds Ding information automatically, e.g. What level, time date and where you were when you dinged.
Anyone interested in this?
