Starsunder, I'm a little late, but the hickups are most likely caused by PerformanceFu, if you have it installed.
There is a 10 sec delay between the hickups, right?

If so, turn off the addon memory (increase) test in PerformanceFus preferences. That fixed it for me.

    cheers,

    Hey,

I was discussing Grid in another thread, and decided to upload a screenshot of my UI here.
Maybe you have some ideas how it could be improved.

The space on the right side underneath my target is the space, where my pets target appears. (I forgot to let my pet attack in this screen... and no usually I kill my Voidwalker to get his hp buff... his is just a screen of me being in Alterac Valley, trying to capure a screen for this forum and pi***ng people off, because I don't take part in the fighting ^^)

Just above the targets health bar, usually is the targets cast bar.. the target just is casting nothing right now.
There are two hidden vertical menus on the right, which automatically hide on mouse out.

The small enemy healthbar in the middle is my focus. I just set my current target as a focus, to demonstrate it.
Minimap is a mess... things just won't go into/work in the Minimapbuttonbag addon.

Does anyone know, whether the UI scale feature in the games options has an influence on the games performance?
Should I leave it at '1', or is it ok to toy with it?

    Thanks for your thoughts.
    dualaud

ps. please excuse the crappy resolution and colors, but I am stuck with a bad graphics card, for my old one just died.

Oops, I misunderstood your last sentence from post 4. *knocks on head
Sorry, guess it was too late in the night.

Thanks for the information concerning the meaning of the colors in Grid!
Agreed to the incoming health, and numbers. I will stick to analysing the combatlog after the raid... After all, if somebody makes mistakes, which are already embedded in his natural way of playing, they can't be untaught quickly in the raid. That should take a longer discussion, which, I think, shouldn't be in the raid situation (everybody has to wait). And quick things, I leave for the RL to say.

So I don't change anything, but leave it on the original color scheme, right?
Do I have to change anything else, if the installation is standard?

Oh, one important thing is, I don't know how to 'test' my Grid layout. (Sorry to come up with Pitbull once again, but:) In Pitbull there is something like a test setup, which simulates every element of Pitbull, so it can be setup accordingly. Is there something like this in Grid?
I'm too slow to tweak Grids settings in a raid situation, which I should, because else I wouldn't actually see what I'm setting and how it may look in the end.

    Thanks for your Help. :)

I will also check the general forum for screenshots, and maybe post my ugly UI, to get some inspiration/help on how to improve it.

Let me just ask one more question, do you know whether the ui scale feature in the graphic options settings influences the performance of the game if activated?

Personally, if I were playing a pure DPS class like a warlock, I would turn off seeing missing health amounts, incoming heal amounts (leaving the visual bar enabled), and probably debuffs that aren't magical.

Somehow I tend to want to know who is dead/half dead and who is nearly oom and how often, and when to maybe analyse what happened when wipes occur. I understand, that actually as DPS class all that matters is just that, DPS (and Aggro, and maybe CC), but since I try to improve the raid, by seeing whats going on (but not too much, for when it is all cluttered, I can't see anything anymore), I'd to see e.g. health bars or percent values.
As a side note: Yes, I know, there are good tools for raid analysing, and seeing what happened when, but those (at least those I know of) are better used when the raid is over (≠wipe), and need to work with compiled combatlogs, and this would take too long, to e.g. state who died first and that he did because the healer was oom, or was beaten half dead by an enemy and was busy healing himself. On the other hand, I probably won't be able to follow those events, but it is nice to be able to have a quick look, at least for me.

I think the thing is, I don't know what I must see in the raidframes, since I'm a warlock and the most important thing for me seems to be the aggrotable and the Maintanks targets at the moment.
But I can image, it would be important to, for instance, see which member has how much health/mana left. It is always very surprising for me, when suddenly the raid gets the command to retreat from a bossfight (to be in a better position to revive) because one of the tanks died, which I didn't notice to that point. *blush
On the other hand... I shouldn't be staring at the tanks healthmeter, but at whats happening on screen (dot timer, aggrotable, which phase the boss is in, and what to do).

I'm trying to strip down the addons I load, to squeeze every bit of performance improvement out of the game, and I thought, why use Grid *and* Pitbull, when I am able to achieve the same thing with Pitbull alone. ;)

But what you explained sound right to me. Grid is 'modular' and beeing extended by 'plugins', which is handy.

So, basically, I'm a Warlock, and need an efficient and lean addon list, but would like to have a raid unitframe layout to at least see, if people are half dead or half oom, and whether heal is incoming (in case I have the time to take a look at it). With Grid I sometimes even have a problem finding a specific person to summon to the raid, or soulstone. So maybe I need names as well, and not too many numbers, for it is distracting; percent values would be nice for health and mana.

On the other hand, there might be situations coming in which I for example have to see magical debuffs on the raid, which I could remove with my Felhunter (is that the right word for it? I'm running the German client, so I can't tell).

As you can see, I am quite undecided, and would appreciate your hints.

    Cheers,
    dualaud

ps. see attached image for my grid layout in a 10 person raid. more groups are just attached horizontally underneath the last one in the picture.

I am using Grid right now, but I got the impression, Pitbull can be tweaked more effectively...
What stuff is Grid able to do, which Pitbull isn't?
Which addon did you choose and why?
By the way, I am using Pitbull for Group, Target and Myself units already, and maybe I could just get rid of a superfluous addon after considering your hints.

    Thanks for your help,

    I have a RP session in chatframe3.
    Timeindex is:
    17:37:00-18:41:00

How can I copy the whole chat into the CopyandPaste option of Prat?
I am only able to copy little bits of text, and I can't even select what to copy. It seems kind of random to me.

Please help, I need to save this session.

posted a message on PitBull 2.0
    Heya,

hopfully this hasn't been asked before:

I have Pitbull setup, and everything it aok, except for one thing:
In Pitbull i can setup a MainTank unit frame, but i can't get it to show up. I already tried to view it via enabling the config 'show party' option.

What is the data source Pitbull takes the information who is MainTank from?
I tried to enable oRA setup a MainTank there and oRA's own window show the MainTank to me, but Pitbull still doesn't.

    Any ideas?

    thanks,
    dual

    Have you updated your mods?

    Yes. Still..

e.g. A hit with white damage (weapon) apparently does not get recognized by ccbreaker anymore, and is not registered if this hit breaks cc.
And the omen error. I can only guess. Probably has to to with german localization, for blizz changed some class names (male/female). But thats just a wild guess.

    Definitely a Blizz error.

And there seem to be fixes around (not verified):

Verified. The /w stay in the proper chatframe now. :D
Though: Blizz really messed up in 2.4... Aggrometers and cc break loggers (Omen, ccBreaker e.g.) do not work anymore, for they changed the Combatlog.

    *sigh
