I've had some issues assigning parents since 2.1, actually. For me, it was my editbox. I previously had an editbox background panel that was set to use the editbox as its parent, but when I logged in on 2.1, it wasn't there. After playing around with it for a bit, I found this behavior:
If the editbox wasn't open when I tried to set it as a panel's parent, I would get a validation error, and the panel wouldn't show. If, however, I opened the editbox and then set the parent, it worked just fine, and the panel would show/hide properly on all subsequent showing/hiding of the editbox. It would stop working again as soon as I reloaded UI.
Did Blizz change something about setting parents to nonexistent frames, or perhaps change the way frames are hidden?

I know you're getting bombarded with requests and I feel bad requesting such a minor thing but meh. I'ma ask anyhow. :p
Is there anyway to change the flight timers to mm:ss instead of ssss. Seeing 3:23 makes a lot more sense to me than 202 seconds! Short flights are ok but when the seconds climb above 500, my eyes kinda glaze over. heh
Bonus points if you generalize this to anything over a certain duration - certain spells can have *really* long cast/channel times (e.g. warlock summoning portals, or summoning stones in general).
May 21, 2007Is there any possibility of adding a pet casting bar to Quartz? I've replaced every other cast bar from my unit frames, but I still need that one.Posted in: General AddOns
I expect lots of strange looks for wanting this, because it has such limited usefulness and most people get along fine without it, but I find this information very nice to have. :P
May 16, 2007Ah, I knew I couldn't have been the first person to think of this! Personally I still wouldn't find that particular addon usable without the alternate mouse button support and more configuration options for direction and size of bars...but it's definitely a great start. Perhaps I (or someone else) can pick up where the author left off, if it's no longer being updated. Thanks for pointing it out. :)Posted in: Addon Ideas
May 16, 2007I have a somewhat complex idea for an action bar type feature - collapsible bars. Which is to say, the bars themselves would be invisible except for one "anchor" button, and when the anchor button is moused over, the rest of the bar would appear (or fade in, etc.).Posted in: Addon Ideas
I have been searching for an addon that implemented this feature, but the closest I've been able to find is the standard action bar "hide until moused over" option - which is good, but I'm just not satisfied with it. I want a much more limited, and visible, mouseover area (hence the anchor button idea) so that it's not popping up all the time when I least expect it.
The inspiration for this came from Necrosis and its lookalikes. I (a warlock) found the pet summoning menus in these addons to be very handy, because they took up very little space on screen until I actually needed to summon a pet, and then I could mouse over them to see the entire menu. This same concept has been used in many other class-specific addons for very specific types of actions - mage portals/teleports come to mind. However, I think a more abstract, class-independent approach would allow people to find many more creative uses for these bars (consumables? chat macros? the list goes on...). The general idea is to have a bar for many spells/items/macros that are grouped conceptually, rarely used, but still can be quickly accessible in tight situations - without reserving a giant invisible mouseover area like a hidden bar would.
As for the actual implementation, I have thought about posting this as a suggestion for BT3, etc., but I personally think the collapsible bars would be even more useful if they didn't use up actionIDs (think Necrosis/Acolyte/Henge, AutoBar, even InfiniBar). I considered posting this as a feature request for InfiniBar as well, and may still do so, but this idea doesn't work well with InfiniBar's "buttons" rather than "bars" concept, and so would probably be difficult to implement within that framework. So, for now, it's an idea/request.
I may be completely off, here, and missed something big - like an addon that allows this functionality or something close enough to work. I don't know much about coding addons, so it may not even be technically possible (opening a bar in combat?). But I really would love an addon like this, and have put a lot of thought into it, right down to the details. If this is possible, and nobody else picks it up, I may get into Lua coding myself, just to get it developed. ;)
Anyway, thanks for reading my giant wall of text. I would definitely appreciate some feedback from you Ace folks on whether you think this can be done, or if/where I should suggest it for other addons.

Love the "Spell Damage Colors" option! Though I'm not too fond of the color for Arcane. Any chance the colors of the different magic schools will be customizable in the future?
I'd like to echo this request from way back on page 3, since I didn't see any response to it... My shadow spells are just not feeling pretty enough with that boring gray color. ;)

hum, probably. Can anyone point me to an icon to use?
FuBar_RestFu uses an icon that looks like the Blizzard default rest icon - you could probably ninja that one if the author (phyber) doesn't mind.
May 11, 2007I love this addon to death, but there's one small feature I'd like to see added...Posted in: FuBar AddOns
Could the FuBar icon change to reflect whether you are currently resting? I have no idea whether this is possible, but I haven't been able to find any FuBar plugins that display that information, and it would be a really nice feature to have integrated with an XP addon.
