I am getting an error message:

Interface\addons\pitbull\aura\update.lua:366: attempt to index upvalue 'friendBuffs' (a nil value)

    Any ideas?

    Thanks for your help.

What class are you playing, and is this on live or WotLK beta? (If beta, do you happen to play a paladin? This is a known issue due to the removal of salv, see http://www.wowace.com/forums/index.php?topic=14785.0)

Most likely you have another addon interfering. Try disabling your other addons and see if you can narrow down which one is re-showing the frames.

Are you sure you're not getting any other errors before those two?

    /necro

From some quick experimentation I have found that the 8th return of UnitBuff et al. seems to be a "cast by me" indicator (1 if cast by the player, nil if from another source). Duration and time left return accurate values for all auras; timeless/"until canceled" auras return 0 for both.

Note that this directly contradicts the information at http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=8202271194&sid=1 where the 8th return of these functions is stated to be untilCanceled. Go figure. :P

Ohh wow, really? Can you explain quickly what the quotes do if they make a difference for me, please? I never saw that when I was reading up about this..

EDIT: BTW that Target thing worked, it's doin what it should.

The quotes tell the tag that the unitID is literally "target" which is your (the player's) target. Target, by contrast, is actually a tag which returns the unitID representing the target of the unit it's applied to. For a more visual demonstration, try it putting [Target] on your party frames - it will display "party1target", "party2target", etc. So when you specify unit=Target, DogTag resolves that tag first, resulting in "party1target", then passes that in as the unit instead of "target".

Okay, gonna have to backpedal a bit on the spell ID stuff.

I had installed a new version with WUU on the computer, and had forgotten to turn off package processing which had led to me having both PitBull/Auras/ and PitBull_Auras and had edited Filter.lua in the wrong directory, oops.

Fixed that issue though and made the changes into the proper directory and the Update.lua problem still persists with:

Well the spell ID you've listed in your previous two posts was salvation, which you've commented out there. Which spell ID is still reported as invalid with the edited file?

First of all, thank you for the reply. :)

I removed those two lines and still got the invalid spell ID error.

And unfortunately the main problem was still there too, the Update.lua:179 spam. :(

Which ID is reporting as invalid now? And do you know of any other paladin spells which were removed?

Target always returns the unit + "target", so if used on the party frames it will return "party1target" on party1's frame, "party2target" on party2's frame, etc.

If you were seeing *your* target's raid icon, you probably accidentally did [RaidIcon(unit="target")] instead of [RaidIcon(unit=Target)] - the quotes make a big difference.

Thanks for the report, spambox. This is caused by the removal of Blessing of Salvation in WotLK; you can comment out or remove the two lines in Filter.lua that refer to it (164, 172) as a temporary work around.

@jink: your problem is unrelated; you went a very long time without updating your PitBull, it seems. PitBull converted from LibDogTag-2.0 to LibDogTag-3.0 and your custom tags will need to be updated to the new syntax as a result. (You can also just reset them to defaults, if you prefer.)

I'm lookin for some code that will let me return the raid icon of party member's targets. I know that RaidIcon(unit) returns a raid icon and there is the party# unit, but I don't know how to (if you even can) get it to use the party member's target as a unit. Any help on this would be great, thanks.

Try [RaidIcon(Target)] on your party frames.

Also, anyway to get Bugsack/Buggrabber to give me the same error frames or text output that Swatter does?

I've committed a few more TotemTimers tweaks to try and prevent your error; however, I wasn't able to reproduce it myself on a shaman. If you are still having issues, there are a few things you may need to try: disabling OmniCC to verify that it's not an addon conflict, deleting PitBull_AltAura (it's no longer needed, and if you have an old copy of it lying around, there is some potential for stray bugs), and lastly giving me some more information about the conditions/steps to reproduce the error.

Boo. Can you list the modules you're running, particularly any that are class-specific or not included in the default PitBull package?

I'm guessing you're a shaman? I found a line in the TotemTimers module that could cause those errors; hopefully it's fixed now. :)

Did you think to try [PvPIcon]? It was one of the first icon tags I added. [RaidIcon], [MasterLooterIcon], [MainTankIcon] and [MainAssistIcon] all work as well. :)
