Apr 14, 2009_ForgeUser1197701 posted a message on Cannot download files from CurseForge due to CAPTCHA [resolved]Well, of course you can pay humans to do it. But I doubt someone paid humans to spam a very inactive guild forum - if someone did, I seriously question their business sense!Posted in: General Chat
Still I can agree that captchas can be annoying, some are hard even for real live humans to read!

Clever metrics could catch an account if it was used for something like WoWMatrix though. Very few page impressions, a lot of direct downloads, no favorites? Suspicious, activate captcha on that account for a week.

Are healing-prevented and healing-reduced tossed into the same bin? healing-reduced sometimes needs to be healed through (Gluth comes to mind, first boss in AQ-20, or Temporus in BM, even a "mortal" effect in PVP). Making someone look like they're OOR (nothing I can do - ignore or move) is not going to be good for that status. Healing them may be inefficient, but is possible if necessary, which it sometimes is.Quote from AzethothI like that. Let's go with 75% for healing-prevented on alpha.
I was thinking maybe 25% alpha: reduced, 50% alpha: OOR, 75% alpha: prevented if possible. Are alpha increments of 25% even noticeable if they aren't side by side though?

Someone will just make an addon to spoof it then anyways :P.Quote from XinhuanRaid leaders wanted version checks just to see that all raiders have it installed. Talk about unnecessary overheads!
CRB, whatever it is, is the most godawful mod ever when it comes to spam. Any given day I get more traffic from that from people I pugged with once a long time ago that every other mod I have combined. Healcomm isn't great, but there's no other way to reproduce it's effect and it's an invaluable tool. I actually saw something even worse once, but I don't remember what it was.
Mar 17, 2009This change makes WoW playable without a mouse, as interactions were previously the only thing you couldn't do without one. Although "playable" is being very loosely defined :P. It's kinda useful when your mouse dies or you want to play with one hand.Posted in: General Chat
Mar 4, 2009I do run Parrot and Bigwigs, I've not tried disabling either of them.Posted in: AddOn HELP!
Unfortunately my guild recently shrunk significantly, so we're back in 10 mans. If we ever go back to 25 mans and I can actually afford a few disconnects, I'll them a proper test.

I can't say for sure it's Recount, only that as a general rule the second thing we all do is shut it off, and it seems to help. The first is to lower spell detail on fights where we can get away with it. The issue is almost always way too much AoE during the spider wing in Naxx25 and other such areas. I haven't noticed Bloodlust cause any issues in my guild.Quote from ElsiaI have heard a few times now people claiming that Recount causes disconnects. Yet I have no actual verification of this.
Since Wrath came out, I have tons of memory issues with WoW and it could just be that disabling Recount frees up enough RAM to prevent the issue. It's by and far the largest addon I have running in raid situations. I'd love to understand what Blizzard did that made a game that ran fine on 1gb of RAM suddenly tank even on 2gb.
Mar 3, 2009A lot of people in my guild have this issue, the solution is almost always turning off Recount. Unfortunately the OP is not using that addon. Otherwise several people have to turn off addons completely and lower their spell detail to minimum. Even then one or two of them continue drop. We're just happy the server has some semblance of stability, we've heard of other high pop server that can't even support raiding during the week :/.Posted in: AddOn HELP!
Mar 2, 2009Good deeds don't erase bad ones though, nor provide immunity towards future negative behavior. I really don't like the concept of turning a blind eye to someone because they do you a favor. Who knows how many great and productive people that person is turning away from your community by being hostile.Posted in: General Chat
I can understand hostile comments with someone how has proven to be incorrigible, but not to established users who have a history of positive contributions or to new users who have no history at all.
Edit: Ignoring also makes conversation confusing when someone asks a question, receives an answer from someone they ignored, and wonders why they don't receive an answer :P. But if someone whose behavior is accepted by the community bothers you, it's really your only recourse.

This would be very nice. I've yet to find a meter other than Assessment that does this.Quote from gagouIs it possible to show overhealing in the healing mode like it was possible with assessment (If I recall corectly)

Moderation affects everyone. Besides, I believe Elsia is just a user, not a mod.Quote from nomad_wandererWhy the heck is this a public note. This should be discussed in a moderator forum.
It's a fine line between thread locking and post deleting. Both have their issues. Locking kills the discussion and isn't great if a single person or duo cause most of the flames but are off topic. Deletion brings up the mod-with-a-grudge complaint. Inevitably someone claims X mod is deleting / editing their posts because they don't like them. The latter is easily resolved by administration so long as hard deleting is disabled (it isn't by default though for smods) and editing is logged, but none of that is public. Most sites use both tools depending on situation, often a lot is up to moderator discretion.
There's always been a few "rough" people around here. I do believe vB has an ignore function, so barring all else there's always that :).

elseif class == 'MAGE' then AddAliases(42859, 22959) -- Scorch => Improved Scorch
It works like a charm. I've been looking for an addon like this for ages - can't believe I didn't this this thread sooner! Thanks so much!
