No not WowAceUpdater taking space, Microsoft Net always running in background taking 33 Megs. That was pretty clear from the sentence "that requires Microsoft Net constantly running in the background".

Surely you don't think that someone that posted this is slow enough not to close a program after it's finished?

    Well.. You never know... :P

I use an ATi Card and they use that crappy MS .net environment on their Catalyst driver thing, so I never noticed the background stuff. I just hate the whole .NET as a whole.

My question, and excuse my ignorance - is why concentrate on using Ace tools with a minimum memory footprint when an Ace downloader that requires Microsoft Net constantly running in the background which seems to take a ton of memory, for every application, not just one.

Why would you keep it running? Open, mark/choose, update/install, close, game.

then on right click it would list the channels and have submenu with the names and then options to whisper/invite/who/etc

I think you can let the right click for options and the use modifiers (alt click, ctrl click, click) for the actions on the menu names... At least is what Friends/GuildFu does I think...

But the channel organization is cool.

As a rule of thumb - if you're not a member of an addon project don't make functionality changes to an addon.

Playing devil's advocate here: is this writen somewhere?

posted a message on Cooldown, Timers...
So, I play a mage. As a 3 minute wonder-sheeping-freezing machine, I rely on knowing my cooldowns and timers to plan ahead and make decisions.

Right now I use Chronometer for the timers and otravi_CoolDowns for the cooldowns. With the recent attitude changes from haste (removing the oCD and oCB from SVN) I feel that maybe there's other addons out there that can handle both things.

So my question/suggestion is: is there an addon to manage timers/cooldowns in a unified way, like those two I mentioned above? I'm thinking in the way Elk BuffBars do: buffs and debuffs are separated by a space, so would the cooldowns on my spells and the timers on my abilites...

well... of course you can read the source of all addons ... that don't mean that these addons have an opensource license.

haste stated clearly in his addon that it's not open source (in the license sense) and that he don't want the files altered by anyone else.

So stick a disclaimer on the main file or on a attached license.txt file. That's not only related with the svn problem, to be true it is completely unrelated, but it would be nice if all addons included a license file stating license and permissions so people don't get lost.

Last thing i saw on oCB was an enemycastbar, that really has nothing to do with oCB.

Of course it has... It's a casting bar...

    Quote from andreasg »

I think we should just figure out a solution like setting write permissions or guidelines (eg. editing without permission = ban).

If code is avaiable on SVN it can be altered, it's a common sense in the open source world. Open COMMIT access is rare, but some projects use. My suggestion is, to limit commit access for developers only and whoever wants to alter/add/fix use the widely accepted way: patches sent to the developer. svn diff is your friend and the developer can merge easily.

EDIT: As in restrict Commit access to developers only I mean using the grouping features of subversion to allow only the developer/group to a specific branch/addon, not all developers on all addons.

erfm... I just noticed that I lose the enemy casting bar from blizzard frames, right? What do you people suggest? I use otravi_CastingBar (oCB) and it doesn't have an ecb either...

But it still using a channel right? One of the things that get to my nervers are the "you are in too many channels" message I used to got before blizzard implementing the addon communication stuff, but all mods are trying to be compatible with ye ol' flagrsp... They must stop doing that and consider channels hazardous.

So, we carebears and rabid-carebears from RP and RP-PVP realms are kinda orphan since FlagRSP is completely F.U.B.A.R. (not in the addon sense of the acronym) and MyRolePlay is in an endless development cycle.

Is there any movement of Ace2 developers to make an RP addon?

posted a message on Arbitrary Channel FriendsFu/GuildFu Fubar icon
So, in some servers, mainly the RP ones, we get those "alliances" between guilds and those guilds create channels for your members to 'hang out' or roleplay together. As WoW has not support for "alliances", the channel is a way to go.
Custom channels are used to for friends who are in the same server but different guilds to communicate, and a lot of other stuff.

The idea is to create an "Fu" for Fubar that scan those channels and show the names of the players on them (/chatlist) on a nice menu like FriendsFu and GuildFu do. That way, you can easily track people on those channels, invite, whisper and etc...

Multiple channel support with an option to show all merged on the tooltip or separated by channel name would be nice.

Cartographer should incorporate some data from atlasloot, and some ideas. Atlasloot shows only relevant drops (items and such) from the bosses, Cartographer shows all possible loot with percentages, it can include green and grey trash sometimes. We need to know only the phat l00t!!! ;P
Cartographer still missing loot from the starting dungeons like VC, BFD, etc...
