Hey man since Echoes of Doom just came out all my addons, were out of date. I went to open up WUU and it alerted me of a new download, I downloaded and installed via the updater. Tried to open WUU and got no GUI but the process showed as running and then immediately closing. I redownloaded both (beta and stable) versions from the site, installed in public and private folders, and even on seperate discs. I then tried all methods again but updating to both versions from the updater. Still the process just starts and ends. Could you please help me out? I'd really like to use my addons with 3.0!

PS I'm using Vista Home Premium.

PS2 Whoah all of a sudden the beta opened up. I don't think Cursed works though amirite?

If you're having problems, there's a log file in %USERPROFILE%\WUU (and also the settings.wurm.xml, which can be deleted to reset to default settings)

Curse should work, at least it does for me right now :P (I deleted all my addons and started from scratch, though - I had over 350, mostly for testing)

Is anyone able to successfully run the WUU on OS X 10.4? I'm having python difficulties. Some posts seemed to indicate that this is expected, but they were not specific.

Just wondering if anyone had has success with this combination.

    Thanks!

On 10.4, you might have to install http://wuu.vagabonds.info/files/rel-1.6/WUU-1.6.446.dmg (the last one I built on Tiger), and then letting WUU auto-update to the latest version.

    Okay, doing a "pseudo-release":

    WUU 1.8.596 win32
    WUU 1.8.596 source/linux

    MD5 sums:
    0be8306ace5116f1a7751e7f2b5fb8e1 *WUU-1.8.596.zip
    84ee70f06dd004402f6b1b5ba08e2ece *WUU-1.8.596-src.zip

    (old mac files:
    WUU 1.8.595 osx
    WUU 1.8.595 osx light version
    )

This fixes the Curse problem (including adding support for "Install from URL"), and removes a lot of WoWAce stuff (so that identifying Unknown addons actually works)

I haven't got access to the Mac now, so this is a Windows/source build only (the Mac version uses the source package to autoupdate, so downloading 1.8.595 and letting it self-update should be sufficient)

for some reason when i check versions it is showing all curse "online ver" as 2008929.. anyone else getting that?

Actually, the problem is that curse have a hidden HTML element above the version list containing some version of Baggins, which WUU gets stuck on :|

Yeah, there's a bug in the curse version code - I'm fixing that for the next release.

    Hi,
is there a way to tell the WUU to update from Curse without the embedded Libs?
Right now it seems, i have to delete all the libs manually from my Addonsfolder, because the new versions will be loaded with those libs embedded.

Nope, there's no way of doing that (as it's not really been a problem up until now :( )

You also missed this part due to me not being able to post here:

I've completely reset the addon database, and it's only accepting addons from WUU 1.8.591 and up, due to so many uploading plain wrong settings (the new versions actually do a version check before uploading to verify that the site ID is good).

I should probably "discourage" use of files.wowace.com in the next version, but that would require a good base of alternative sites for these addons to be in the database, so please run "Tools -> Upload your addon list" when you've found some good alternatives - I'll purge the online DB of all WoWAce addons later, and add some code that automatically "re-sites" the addons in the next version or so.

new version kept giving me an error with python25 - copied over file from previous version. Worked fine. File size of the file in newest is about 1/8th the size of the file in the old zip.

    Sorry, fixed now...

My password didn't work anymore, and there were no "recover password" pages at all, except one on Curse that threw an error every time, so I wasn't able to post here.

    So:

    WUU 1.8.595 win32
    WUU 1.8.595 osx
    WUU 1.8.595 osx light version
    WUU 1.8.595 source/linux

    MD5 sums:
    28344b69f9878a3ddf975078c5b9a115 *WUU-1.8.595.zip
    6904bd82cf1a49dc6ca061dbae474636 *WUU-1.8.595.dmg
    cc4abad2c6d5e13f8cb342ed09de7322 *WUU-1.8.595-light.dmg
    f506ce486d098968c944ca18ddf3906b *WUU-1.8.595-src.zip
    1.8.595 (2008.10.06):

    * Site fix: Curse.com support (again, yes)
    * Feature: "Clean unused SavedVariables" now actually works!

I'll continue to update WUU until there's an API I can use, but I won't use "evil" tactics like reverse-engineered code and the likes.

I haven't followed this exactly, but from what I gather, files.wowace.com isn't updated anymore, so curse.com is the new way of getting good updates - or is there a third site with more "up-to-date" addons?

Oops, time to get back up-to-date on this thread!

    Quote from Glith »

Is this compatible with the new curseforge client? (Can it be used to download the addons at curseforge later on when the files.wowace.com is shut down?)

    Quote from gi2k15 »

I think only the Curse client will be able to download the files from Curseforge, or you can do it manually (I hope). WUU probably won't be able to get the addons from there, but I don't know this discussion very much.

Yep, pretty much this - unless they open an API (which I know has been discussed) I can't get to the addons there without using rather "evil" methods (I know one has been posted on WUUs SF page by some user, but I'm not intending to use it).

    Quote from Chmee »

It appears that something has changed on Curse recently, because all of my curse files are coming up as "not found".

Interesting. I just noticed that the Mac-standard "Edit" menu does not exist in WUU. Nor are the standard cut, copy, and paste keystrokes available. :-(

    Quote from Anteract »

I too see this, it appears that they have added another folder to the mix, now "Pawn" is at "" target="" data-ensure-absolute>http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/pawn.aspx" Note the extra "wow-addons" that wasn't there before.

    ...and the .aspx

Looking into the Curse change, it's not pretty :(

The use of regexps to parse HTML code seems odd when you can use powerful tools as Beautiful Soup or lxml in python.

    ...

One simple reason: The regexps can be stored simply in a file external to the program - for all minor changes to the web pages I only have to distribute a new site_re.txt, not package a full WUU installation (which can easily take 40+ minutes if I'm doing a full release on both wuu.vagabonds.info and sourceforge.net, plus updating all forum threads). I'd love to use stuff like BeautifulSoup, but that would require a rather huge change in how the system works.

Ah, thanks for the report: I had forgotten to upload the digital signature of the .zip file, so the 404 was for that - and of course the updater won't update without the signature ;)

every mod i try does this. I dont know what to think. I back tracked to an old verison and got the same problem.

*EDIT* Ok, nevermind. I just tried this again, after a 3rd computer reboot and it went away.....

    Odd, but what ever :)

I've checked a bit, and posts in mailing lists/forums indicate that this might be because your antivirus is still scanning the file after the download when WUU tries to unpack it. I'll try adding a slight delay there, might help (these zip files are tiny, so I guess adding half a second or so will help; making this user configurable of course)
