Just an idea I had that would've definitely helped me out when upgrading..

Somewhere in or near the Line Texts window, provide a short blurb about DogTag 2.0 / 3.0 syntax differences..

    * Concatenation is default behavior in all cases now
    * String literals - "string" are the way to display text
    * Strings in other circumstances, such as parameters Hide, Contains, etc. must be enclosed in quotes.
    * (other bits of useful info)

Chat window layout is separate from what provides the data for the window. Blizzard's combat log addon does the latter.

That would be great, but what if I already have default bars 6,7,8 (or whatever) holding stance bars, create multiple 1x12 bars in Bongos3 to 'see' them again, but see their buttons on separate bars? :\ It doesn't seem to align with non-virtual bars

Player levels are always colored (I think.. just ignore me if I'm wrong and this has always been the case..), and Elites are automatically red, instead of just Bosses.

I've mostly updated my CowTip configuration, but I have a few issues..

TalentSpec never displays for myself (it only gets Talents of other players)

DifficulityColor seems to have a different behavior from before, is there something else I should use for coloring the Level?

posted a message on Customizing the combat log?
Hey Blackbird.. it's not a matter of syntax - I didn't define any of the variables above, Blizzard did. You can look it up yourself at:

    http://wdnaddons.com/2408089/FrameXML/GlobalStrings.lua

    Now the default string is: $source $spell $action .....
And you want to to change how certain actions get displayed.. so looking at the actions section of the strings file, we find these:

    ACTION_SPELL_AURA_APPLIED_BUFF = "gained";
    ACTION_SPELL_AURA_REMOVED_BUFF = "faded";

I think these are what you want to change to ++ and --, but I haven't tried this myself.

It has to be an addon.
I actually got it done without one.. just changing the values the Blizz combat log uses.

    /script TEXT_MODE_A_STRING_TIMESTAMP = "[$time]"
    /script TEXT_MODE_A_STRING_VALUE = "$amountType$amount"
    /script TEXT_MODE_A_STRING_VALUE_SCHOOL = "$school "
    /script TEXT_MODE_A_STRING_VALUE_TYPE = "($powerType) "
    /script TEXT_MODE_A_STRING_1 = "$source $spell $action $dest $result $value. $timestamp"
    /script TEXT_MODE_A_STRING_2 = "$source $action $spell $dest $result $value. $timestamp"

I wish this level of customization was in the UI for combatlog, but hitting a macro isn't too bad. :)

The defaults are in FrameXML/GlobalStrings.lua - is there some SavedVariables file I could change to overwrite the strings on login?

Does anyone know if is there any file I can edit to change the order of strings as they appear in the combat log? I like all the information, I just want to change the order to this:

[Your] Spell damages [Mob] (Critical) Nature 500. [12:25:03]
[Mob] Melee hit [You] (Crushing) Physical 100. [12:25:06]

Is this possible with some configuration change, or would it have to be a combat log addon?

posted a message on Bongos3 - A main actionbar replacement
Playing with patched servers now, and I very confused. I've created the bars I had in Bongos2 before, but instead of using the bars as they are, I seem to be getting random buttons. I took advantage of the fact that in Bongos2, my first 12 button bar = the default blizzard bar, so if I ever had to play elsewhere, I still had things mostly how I wanted them. How do I set Bongos Bar 1 = blizzard bar 1?

If I disable Bongos3, my battle stance, berserker stance, and defensive stance bars are all there. And in Bongos2 I could just say the page to flip to for them, and the same 'bars' would work whether I had a bar mod or not.. is this even possible now?

Edit: Attaching a screenshot to show what I mean. In Wow 2.3/Bongos2, Bar 6 held what Bar 5/half of Bar 6 hold now, and so forth for the other bars.. but I never moved anything around before upgrading, and the bars still exist if I turn Bongos3 off. I just want to use these Bars as they are..

So currently in Bongos2, I enable sticky bars for everything, and anchor xp bar, action bars, minimap, and roll frame all to each other; makes getting started really fast. Will I need to get a separate frame moving addon to do this if I switch to Bongos3 when patch 2.4 hits?

Are you saying you are changing the order of "Tank, Melee, Healer, Ranged"?
Yep, that's exactly what I meant. Like I said, I just edited the .lua to get the order I wanted, but it would be nice to have available as an option in the future.

I don't think it should be in HealComm though. Let's not bloat libraries.

2 mods that could possibly use a resurrect lib is oRA2 and SmartRes off the top of my head.
I'll take a look at SmartRes, thank you. What I really wanted was to just have a corner in grid light up for ressing without installing another mod, but oh well. :)

Edit: Huh, looks like CastCommLib (previous lib for Grid) does have res tracking.

What about catching incoming res spells? This would allow grid (and other addons) to see which people are getting a res.

There's 4 spells that do this:

    Priest: Resurrection
    Paladin: Redemption
    Druid: Rebirth
    Shaman: Ancestral Spirit

Or this is out of the scope of LibHealComm?

Not sure what this is for. It works just by changing the layout sorting in the layout options menu.

I don't understand, where? I don't see any option for changing the display order of Roles.

ST is great, generally very consistent timers for buffs, debuffs, and even activated skills (revenge for example). I hope somebody will be in love with it enough to write a 2.4 version, I've never found a better timer mod.
