Dec 14, 2005Hmmm, wouldn't it be great if we had an editor which stored comments in a separate file, dynamically linked into the display when editing, yet separate so that the distribution can opt not to include it unless the downloader wanted to see it.Posted in: General Chat

I play for about an hour in the evening if I'm lucky, on alternate days, and occasionally I may get to play for 3 or 4 on a saturday if I'm not doing other things. The whole "power separation" argument doesn't go very far. When there immense differences, e.g. the level 60 molten core sets, perhaps I can see the argument - but again, what is the point in trying to collect all of these items to give yourself an edge, only to be told that no, sorry, you're too powerful so we'll put you on your own.
Items have level restrictions, and have BoP attributes, but that doesn't stop them being any less overpowered for the levels you can get them at.
For example: at level 28 I was wielding a gun which, to be quite honest, is more suitable for a level 45. How did I get it? I did all of the stranglethorn nessingwary's expedition quests, which start at level 28, and at the end I spent 2 hours kiting King Bangalesh around 3 zones before finally felling the beast. I had to send a guild out for ammo twice during that fight because I wanted to see if I could do it, and now that I have - I have a Bind on Pickup gun where the next best crafted gun I could use has a level 39 restriction.
In the battles I face in Warsong Gulch, I regularly come up against paladins with dual crusaders, or dual lifesteal. That doesn't stop the fact that with skilful playing they won't get near enough to use them. At level 24, before I had most of my gear, I was nearing the top of the tables, and by level 26 I was consistantly in the lead.
Anyway, I'm digressing. My point is ultimately, why should my playstyle be penalised? All the effort I put into it should surely be rewarded, otherwise what's the point? You may as well go the next logical step and make everyone clones when they're in battlegrounds. Set everyone to level 60 with identical gear to level the playingfield... and where's the fun in that.
Ultimately, no matter how you look at it someone is going to be disadvantaged in PVP. Either the person who is just plain lower level (21 vs 29 is a big difference!) or those with better equipment.

my *main* character is only level 29 - I spend all my time between Warsong Gulch mining and skinning to make up money so that I can improve my abilities for my level, and those high level enchants I purchase may take a day or two to save up for, but why shouldn't I be allowed?
I've not twinked from any other character - anyone else is welcome to do the same as I am?
If people claim it's unfair, then where do you draw the line? I have a near full set of blues which again I've saved up for and paid for - should I be excluded from the fight because I put more effort into my setup instead of levelling?

Oh, can I suggest that re: timers - you don't use timers because lag could ruin all the hard-work.
As you're scripting everything let people set their "role" in the 'play' (/theatre set Horatio) and then the script lines assigned to horatio would kick in after the preceeding line matches from anyone else within /say range.
You just need to hook incoming chat that way too, though that'll be an awfully long script table ;)
Nov 22, 2005I do agree with this motion... but don't forget that not ever mod has a visible effect, and most of the mods I've seen here are in a very volatile state. I'd suggest when a mod is at a release level then screenshots would be most useful. Before then, things are subject to change so much that the benefit of a screenshot for the beta releases would be outweighed by re-taking them every few hours of development.Posted in: Addon Ideas
