is there a way to encrypt LUA?

As i understand, there is such a thing as compiled Lua, but Blizzard has disabled its function within WoW's engine, possibly to ensure that you can't distribute addons that do underhanded things without somebody noticing.

And you do that all with one hand?
Cause if you do it with two, aren't they in the way of each other?

Control+6 is easy to reach with one hand, but it does make me release the movement keys, so i don't use it for vital, instant-cast, combat abilities.

The farthest i stretch with alt is alt+5, for charge and other interrupting effects.

Making use of the ` key for another 3 buttons (`, c-`, s-`) (for a total of up to 6 keybinds, including alt in there) really helps stretch the available space if you use WASD to move. Some people move over to ESDF to move to let them reach even more keys, but i think i have it under control with my setup.

Rotcaster: My recommendation to you is... to stop being a clicking kind of person. :) There may be solutions out there for you to get what you want (i certainly don't know what, though), but to maximize your performance in-game and to eliminate the need to move your mouse around and stare at your abilities on the bars, i recommend assigning keybinds to them and learning to use those instead of clicking, for all of your abilities except those which are never used during combat.

It may take a while to get used to, and you may not be able to remember so many keybinds (i have shift, alt, control, shift+alt, control+alt, and no-modifier versions of so many different keys and numbers, to accommodate all my abilities in each class...), but it's worth it in the end.

Let's see, i've got `-7, shift+`-6, control+`-6, control+Q,E,R,T,F,G, alt+key combinations of most of these to double the number of available abilities (using macros, [modifier:alt]), and then shift+Q,E for trinkets, QWEASD for movement, F for map, R for reply, shift+F to assist the MA (who i assign by control+shift+F -- addon DerAssistHelper), shift+G for mount, T for attack, Z for toggling weapon, X for sitting, V for inventory, shift+Z,X,C,V for pet commands (follow, stay, attack, dash -- for manual use in pvp), shift+B to switch to certain item sets using ItemRack, F1-F9 for raid icon assignments, and then miscellaneous keybinds to open addon windows. I almost never forget any of them. Almost. :)

It all sounds complex, i'm sure, but once you get the hang of it, you can toss whatever you need at any time without having to find it on a bar.

I believe that line in WoWWiki is a misinterpretation of this paragraph,
We do not allow add-ons or expansions for Diablo. You may make and distribute StarCraft and Warcraft maps and campaigns that you have created yourself, so long as it is for personal, non- commercial purposes. Any such maps or campaigns would also be subject to the other terms outlined in our End User License Agreements included with those products.

This specifically does not mention World of Warcraft. As i recall, unlike other companies such as Bioware (for NWN mods), Blizzard does not claim ownership of AddOns written for WoW (as long as you write the code yourself and don't package their copyrighted images or sounds or what have you along with them), and as far as i know, you are free to do what you wish with them.

However, this is probably something you should be sure about before you go licensing your addons, so i recommend contacting Blizzard's legal department and asking them.

edit: I have, for the time being, removed that line from the article, adding of course the appropriate reasoning to the Talk page.

Indeed, Recount saves dps timelines for every player for every fight for the last... large number of fights. Alt+Click on somebody's bar to see the overall graph, and you can select particular regions by dragging on the graph or particular fights by clicking on the fights in the lower right. You can add more people by alt+clicking them.

That's a LOT of information, and it rocks. If you're using Recount, you should probably be prepared to have a little bit of memory in your computer.

I believe it is, though the author doesn't post here much.

The funny part was that i could arrange them with that method only on some character but not on others. I wasn't sure if it was an intentional feature.

Man, would 1.5mb be considered a lot of memory, anyway? Are you running on Pentium-3 with 256mb of ram? Perhaps it is a ridiculous exaggeration to call it a "memorykiller".

Yes, yes, if you would read the thread (and it's only up to 4 pages, so it's not like that should be much to ask), you'd see that many people are having an issue with positions not being saved and that it will probably be fixed in the future. Until then, you are more than welcome to use whichever version of FuBar you want to!

By default, Recap does not synchronize. By default (and it may not even be possible to turn this off), Recount does. Thus, if your combat log range is insufficient to capture events from everyone in the raid, you may very well end up with different numbers in each.

and now for my next request!

Is there a way to make Recount save detailed fight information for more than the last 5 fights? If there isn't, i'd like to have one. I have a good chunk of system memory available and i'd like to see how far i can stretch it.

Ah, a pet casting bar. That would be pretty tasty, come to think of it. At the moment, i'm having to rely on XPerl's pet casting bar, and i'd really prefer a Quartz one to go with the rest of the casting bars.

I have a question and I'm so sorry if it's been asked before. This thread is up to 118 pages =O and I did use the search feature and didn't pull up anything.
I'm making a baby hunter for fun and wondered if there was a way for bartender to change out bars for range and if not is there a way to switch bar 1 for 2 via macro.

    1) no, and
    2) /swapactionbar 1 2

I use this myself, but it's too cumbersome during combat. I just use a lot of macros and keep the melee stuff on the always-visible bars.

With any data-gathering addon, you're going to have to let it use memory. If you want to run several addons like that, you're going to need a computer with enough memory to run the game with that UI.

Now, if Recount is suddenly using a lot more memory than it used to, i couldn't speculate on why.

Ummm - anyone sure that pets get merged when Merge pets /w Owners is on?
They still show up separately in the lists, and report independantly, too.

    Doesn't make sense :/

They are, and you can see this by toggling it on and off. The owner's damage will drop by the amount that the pet does. I actually prefer the way it shows the pets even when adding their damage to the owners', because it gives you the opportunity to both directly compare the owner to other players and to see how much damage the pet is doing in comparison to other players' and the owners' total damage. If you have the merge option set to ON, you just have to remember not to mentally combine the damage bars when you look at the display.
