    But even looking at talents specs isn't always enough -- although it's a great first guess. Just like looking at aura/stances/form/etc. isn't always accurate. I know some fights we have prot pallies or druid tanks heal. As a holy paladin, I've even been asked to heal a fight with righteous fury up to try and draw mobs to me away from squishes.

    Unfortunately, I think this problem is always going to involve some manual sorting.

    -Pach

    GridDynamicLayout already does some of that, I don't rely on talent analysis because as you say, sometimes people are expected to perform a role that is not related to their spec...
    That said statistical analysis feature can help the "people jumping around" impression by providing a more stable raid environment.

    5) There are no in-game options. Open GridLayoutLayouts.lua in a text editor. Find the layout you use. Find the pet group (hint: it's last) and change the class filter to show only hunters.

    If you're using GridDynamicLayout two separate checkboxes are there to enable showing of pets for warlock and hunters.

    OK step by step :
    0/ You should be in default profile if you haven't for now messed with your profile settings, I will assume default profile
    1/ Create a new profile : Grid / Profile / Other / input "SmallGroups" in the text box and press enter key
    2/ Copy from default profile : Grid / Profile / Copy from / choose "Default"
    3/ Drag your Grid frame wherever you want it for 5-15 mens
    4/ Create a new profile : Grid / Profile / Other / input "BigGroups" in the text box and press enter key
    5/ Copy from default profile : Grid / Profile / Copy from / choose "Default"
    6/ Drag your Grid frame wherever you want it for 25-40 mens
    Now all you have to do is setup GridDynamicZoneSwitch to use this or that profile when zoning in appropriate instance :
    For example for Alterac Valley, go into "DynamicZone Switch", select "Alterac Valley", click "Enable" chackbox, choode "Profile" in the mode field and then in the profile field choose "BigGroups". Do the same for each raid instance / bg and voila...

    Nothing to be done here for now, I think Grid 2.0 will use a different roster lib which will handle units without resorting to names but for now there's no solution, tell your hunter friends to stop jerking around and use "Rex" or "Groink" as a pet name like everybody else :)

    posted a message on Grid Positioning question...
    First try and configure your different settings (which should include locations) in different profiles, then try to switch between them manually.
    Is it updating properly ?

    Then go into GridDynamicZoneSwitch settings, for each zone define the mode to "profile" and set the profile dropdown to appropriate profile name.
    Those settings will be in action next time you zone into one of those instances.

    posted a message on Grid Positioning question...
    Define each of your configuration sets (position, but you may want to display raids 10 men raids with bigger cells or different status or whatever..) in 3 different profiles, use GridDynamicZoneSwitch to automagically switch between your profiles according to the instance you are in.

    Hi everyone.
    I had some problem with Grid. When lots of raid change their "alive" or zone status (for example, by pressing "Release spirit" button after a wipe in Tempest Keep simulateously), I had a strong lag, for about 5-10s I'm unable to do anything, WoW just freeze :(
    This problem persists for about two months, Grid is being updated to last rev regulaly.
    Unfortunately I cannot specify Grid revision right now 'cause it is installed on home PC.

    Another problem is DCs, caused by addons. I suspect Grid again because of it's communications with other raid members's addons :(

    Any advices or solutions?

    Are you using an outdated version of GridDynamicLayout by any chance ? This used to happen in the early days of the plugin... If you are then just update to last version.

    Yes Grimwood, if you are talking about GridAutoFrameSize the two mods are indeed conflicting (although you can use both, it's just that you need to disable the "Auto Size Raid Frame" toggle in the layout options when using the "DynamicLayout" layout).
    Specifically what GridAutoFrameSize does is check whichever of the default "By Group 40", "By Group 25", "By Group 20", "By Group 15" or "By Group 10" layout to use in order to better display your raid (if only three groups are active in your raid it will display "By group 15" for example)... Thus each time someone leaves / enters the raid or is changed of group the layout which was "DynamicLayout" gets changed back to one of the above layouts...
    When using DynamicLayout you actually don't need GridAutoFrameSize functionnality as the frame will already automagically expands or shrink based on how many are in your raid (well that's not strictly true but it's close enough)

    Well done...
    I was sure this was covered by Grid...
    I'll add the missing dependency asap (if I can find out how to do it, never done it before :P )

    Try something like this :
    	GridLayout:AddLayout(L["By Group 25"], {
    	    [1] = {
    		    unitsPerColumn = 3,
    		    maxColumns = 9,
    		    groupFilter = "1,2,3,4,5",
    		    groupBy = "GROUP",
    		    groupingOrder = "1,2,3,4,5",
    	    },
    	})

    Hmm. I still don't see why it matters if you're PvP flagged while you're inside a 25-man instance, or why you'd need to buff or heal or do other flag-spreading activities outside the instance, or why if you get flagged you can't just zone in. I don't play on a PvE server, though, so I guess I just don't see the problem. :P

    On a PvE realm, if one person is PvP flagged at the beginning of a raid, this happens :
    - Any raidmember that buffs / heals him gets PvP flagged, pretty soon you end up with half your raid PvP flagged
    - If a groupbuff is applied with someone non PvP flagged targeted, PvP flagged groupmembers don't get the buff
    - Later on during the fights, unless specifically targeted, group heals or multiple heals (think shaman) won't heal PvP flagged people, there may be issues with things like shadowpriest mana regeneration too

    PvP flags (or rather raids half PvP flagged) are eeeeevil on PvE realms trust us

    Just about the wiki you compiled, for the layout-related stuff I think it would be best to let GridDynamicLayout out of the equation, it is essentially an automatically-generated namelist-based layout that changes according to your raid context.
    Simply said I don't see how you could merge it into a core Grid, it is just extreme automation of something you could do by hand (assuming some sort of in-game editing or import/export for layout ends up as a Grid 2.0 feature). In that regard GridDynamicZoneSwitch falls under the same category.
    I think Grid core should stay centered on three things : layout, status and indicators, automation of simple tasks should stay accessible to plugins but chugging them into core would be too akin to feature-bloating.

    On another note I'd like to do a feature request for Grid 2.0 : instead of handling horizontal and vertical padding for cells (unitframe), implement a cell-padding and a group-padding, if you prefer cell-padding horizontal/vertical + group-padding but I'd really like to be able to have a sort of separation between my groups (it really makes sense in the case of layouts using the units per column feature).
