Now don't you think having a Broker_Mail-type addon that only loads and displays when you first visit the mailbox VERY silly? Postal only loads when you first visit the mailbox if the user uses AddonLoader. The point of the addon is to tell you when to visit the mailbox, not to visit the mailbox first to tell you when to visit the mailbox.
Well, seems there was a misunderstanding. I read your initial sentence as something technical (Broker_Addon has to be active all the time...), while you meant it as being simply impractical and beside the point.

As for it being VERY silly, not everbody might use AddonLoader (even if they probably should). But then again, I'm not the one requesting or needing it, and it's your addon, so shrug.

A broker data addon would need to be active all the time to display its data.

Huh? tekability only shows up on Broker displays once it's loaded (in my case once I've checked my character frame).

Tekkub's Sqeenix shows the new calendar button just fine.

Hm? It didn't for me, not with the version I downloaded from wowinterface last night at least (version would be 3.0.1.8-Release). I didn't see the button at the minimap, and neither did I see the option to enable it in the config.

This. I usually try to refrain from posting "QFT" replies, but here it's simply true. Thanks for that great piece of software!

posted a message on WoW Matrix?
I understand that people here and at other UI sites are wary of WoWMatrix, and from what I've read rightly so. But jumping on people who say that is *is* well-designed (from a usability point of view) and who basically just suggest that this is how CC would ideally look like - that is just silly. I would understand it to a degree if johtro had actively defended its modus operandi, but he even wrote explicitly that he doesn't like what they're doing. Yet you threaten to tar and feather him... dear lord.

For the record, I never heard about WoWMatrix before the subject was raised at WoWI, I haven't used it and I don't intend to - jwowupdater does everything I want just fine.

    posted a message on MyMedia
Ok, very silly question. Which of the SharedMedia versions is the one that's actually recommended now? I have SM-2.0 installed (not SM, or SM.3.0, didn't even see there is a 3.0). And yeah, the result is that addons using SML-3.0 don't see MyMedia anymore.

Edit to reply to Seerah below:
When I installed SM-2.0 a way back, I did follow the instructions in that file (apart from the fact that I had to remove the comment infront of MyMedia.lua in some toc file, which wasn't documented anywhere and we figured out here). Then it worked. Now it doesn't.
But from your reply I gather, that SharedMedia is the recommended addon now, not SM-2.0, not SM-3.0 or whatever else there is floating around?

If that's the case, I'll uninstall SM-2.0 and install SM, no problem.

/SCTdisplay nothing happens i get a random error

    Yeah, same here.

Cant scroll up the font list.

Grayhoof adressed that before, his suggestion is to use less fonts. I resorted to editing the saved variables (with the game not running) and setting the name of the font there. It's annoying, yes. But since I only need to do it once, it's not a big deal (for me).

Config menu is horrid for setting up SCT having it build into the blizzard UI don't help as it does not move Great idea for when you wanna try set up your dmg text. also profiles don't work at all keeps resetting to the defualt.

I didn't have many problems to see where the font would end up, but ymmv. Profiles seemed to work fine for me, I was able to correctly load the profile from my druid when playing my pally and it saved the settings after logging.

posted a message on DKPmon & Bidder v2.0
    Quote from Eraslin »

Certainly doable, and it should be pretty easy actually. Have whomever's going to write the modules start with the FixedDKP modules that comes with DKPmon and Bidder. In the Bidder module, just make the click pop up a little menu that the person can select their type of bid (full, half, none); this information would be passed in the bidinfo table that's passed from Bidder to DKPmon. Then, the DKPmon module just has to display the bid type along side each bidder's name in the bidder list.

Well, I managed to hack up a module that should work for us (soon). It does the whole full price/half price thing nicely already. Most of the code I was able to copy/paste/adapt from the fixed DKP and Zerosum bidding DKP modules - they're nicely documented internally, so a big thanks for that :)

Now, I'd like to implement a function that announces to the raid who bid what after the bidding is finished. It's not a necessity, but I think it's nice for transparancy reasons. So, as far as I understand, this would be done within the DKPmon_DKP_BaseClass.prototype:OnCloseBidding() function, right (replacing BaseClass with our DKP system, obviously)? Now, here's where my trusty method of copy/paste fails me ;)
Where do I get the information about the items and the bidderlist from? Snooping around in the DKPmon/Looting/lootframe.lua leads to believe me that this info is stored in LootFrame.itembuttons.iteminfo and LootFrame.itembuttons.bidinfo - is that correct?

haste, will there be a (fairly actual) version of oUF up on googlecode again at some point? I'm simply asking because Darwinports refuses steadfastly to install git on my Mac...

posted a message on DKPmon & Bidder v2.0
I have a question regarding a possible custom module for DKPmon/Bidder.
We use a fairly unique DKP system, which is basically a mixture of fixed DKP and bidding. Items have a fixed price, but people can also apply for them at half price or for free.
So, loot distribution breaks down to the following cases:
    • One or more people are willing to pay the full price: The item goes to the one with highest DKP among those who want to pay full price.
    • No one wants to pay full price, but one or more are willing to take it at half: The item goes to the one with highest DKP among those willing to pay half price.
    • No one wants to pay any DKP, but some people would take it if it's free: A random roll is done and the highest roller gets the item.
This might seem weird to many people, but it has worked out very well for us.
So, what I'd like Bidder to do is to present the players three options: Full, half and free. DKPmon would have to do the assignment based on the three rules I outlined above. So, is this possible in the current framework, and if yes, how would one go about it? Personally, I'm fairly lua illiterate, but at least one of our officers should be able to cook something up if he gets a few pointers, I think.

    Thanks in advance :)

    Simply pathetic.

Your post is, yes. If you had bothered to read the posts on the last pages, you'd have found out that TinyTip is working fine (i.e. not throwing a bunch of errors and refusing to do a thing - and I checked that with today's version, like Moon Witch). There's no config yet, big deal. Thrae's working on that.

Also, if you're not patient enough to wait for the final version, two alternatives (Cowtip and TipTac) have been pointed out in this very thread as well.

posted a message on Anyway to dock EEPANEL panels to Bongos bars?
I asked that question in the eePanels thread a while back, and the answer I got was:
Bongos doesn't have a frame which you can parent it to (afaik). You could probably anchor it to one of the buttons, though.

And that's what I did subsequently. Anchor the panel to the first (or actually whichever) button of the bar and then tweak the size so that it encompasses the entire bar.

Or you can right-click on the bag icon (top right corner) in your bag display (at least I think that's the one, can't check right now).
