I get this error when I have the quest Cruel's Intentions in my questlog, if I abandon the quest everything is fine, but when I have it I can't get the rightclick menu on fubar to work at all.

Is this still a problem in current version? So much have been changed, if you can get me a current version error that'd be a big help.

Just a quick question for ya neutron- what does it mean when quests have a redish background to them? It looks like they've been highlighted for some reason, but I can't seem to work out why :(
Only some of my quests have it.

    Thanks! :)

It tries to be clever and highlight what you need to pay extra attention to.
For example if the subzone your in is mentioned in the quest objectives, such as :
Bring Whatever to Whoever in Booty Bay, if your in STV it wont highlight, but if your in booty bay it will.

It'll also try highlight stuff where the zone is in the quest objectives if it's a quest from another zone.
Example : Which doctor whoever wants you to go to feralas to get X. (quest from tanaris), this will highlight if your in feralas.

I'm gonna start importing some of the module code now, details frame is still missing, but it does store quest givers and such :P, so cool things like that is there, but you can't actually see that data... YET!

    Feature request:

Possibility to adjust the scale of the text. I play on a very high resolution with low scale and it's nearly not readable for me :D
But it loooks so damn nice!

    Defenatly coming

I think you're already aware, but when I try to change bg/border color, there is no alpha slider in the color picker that pops up...

    Fixed in uncommitted version :)

    Quote from Firedancer »

so I had to edit it in the savedvariables file (i just wanted it all transparent anyway). Another thing I noticed today is that if I unselect the "Hilight zone quest" thing, it doesn't un-highlight stuff until a reload, and then it re-highlights everything (despite being turned off) once I pick up a new quest. Also, why did you spell it correctly in the functions but different in the settings? That's just weird. :p

actually if you search through my lua's you'll see I'm about 50% hilight and 50% highlight :P, coded that part late ;) (that could also explain the somewhat funky behavior :P )

    This for example : isHighlight = self.hilightList[strTitle]

It's fixed in my internal version now :)

One thing tho, how about an anchor for moving the frame ? Had a hard time clicking the border of the frame to move it (as the lines in the box take priority over the click, maybe disable that while the frame is unlocked if no visibla anchor)

What I semi want to do is to have unlock show a nice little anchor, and a resize grip, so you can drag&drop it. Although I'm not entirly sure how I'm gonna do it :P

Also I'm still considering adding a max height (would go nicely with the system above), so if it reaches that height it'll switch to a scrollable frame (not showing a scroll bar, showing a small arrow/text on the bottom and on the top, and being scrollable with mouse wheel).

    Quote from deezel »

And alpha of the frame... damn I had problems with that in my BG addon at first, what I did was (looking at code, haven't touched it in three months):

The fubar thing I had a color type for menu's, I used it incorrectly, using it correctly should help a lot :p

I've slapped "Settings : Rename Tracked/Not Tracked to Visible/Hidden, easier to understand." on my todo list as well, it's gonna involve quite a bit of renaming. But it's easier to understand hopefully :P

A few things I'd love some help on

A : Where should options be, when you go look for a setting, do you find it where you expect to find it? Is the wording good enough for you to figure out what a setting does without turning it off and on again?
B : Do you use the smart quest objective tracking or was that the first thing you turned off? Does it do a decent job at showing you the objectives you want?
    - Should showing new quests objectives be default? (I think this is good for BC, and bad pre BC tbh, since in BC you get way less quests from an area).
C : What changes should I do to default settings, was there anything you immediately went in and changed?
D : What settings are redundant? I'm considering adding a "Show all settings" toggle, default to off, that hides the settings most users wouldn't ever use (so it'd be easier to find the settings you do use).

    A request:

I would like to be be able to turn off the "1/5 visible" text shown next to the zone headers. It makes things just a little too visually cluttered for me :) Perhaps you could show an asterix next to the zone header if there are quests that are hidden if you chose not to display the full text? Something like that.

Added in internal beta, will be committed to svn soon ;)

I'd rather allow people to link multiple quests in one go anyway ;)

That's fine I guess, personally I don't like it as it becomes very unreadable very fast. That might just be me tho. As for it only working on sticky channels... of course, they wouldn't be sticky otherwise (I have never posted a quest objective anywhere else myself so I never considered it). Dunno what it's set to while the editBox is open and a non-sticky channel is chosen.

Anyways, an option for how you want it posted would be nice in that case, otherwise I'll just add the code I already have in my personal version ^^

Shift click = Link to editbox if editbox open, and to active channel if editbox closed.
    Ctrl adds quest objectives.

Also in the version I haven't committed.

I have one feature request as well (taken from what FastQuest can):

Please let us strg + leftclick on q quest log entry to post the
current quest status to the actual channel.

In the todo list, it's gonna use active channel (so you'll have to click enter first, and it'll paste it in the chat box), and it'll be single line not multiline (same format as QuestsFu uses).

You don't need to have it active, you can do something like this: local chatType = DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME.editBox:GetAttribute("chatType"), then just use SendMessage(<text>, chatType)

I'd rather allow people to link multiple quests in one go anyway ;)

I have a massive commit waiting to go in by the way, a lot of new stuff and reorganization, just waiting for kemayo to show up (since chunks of it is his code, and I'd rather want my modular stuff moved somewhere we can both use it) :)

Just an idea, but possibly sync with other users of the addon with the party addon channel so you can see who has the quest or not even if they're out of range?

I've considered looking into that, but I didn't want to add it because it's inconsitent. Better people know they have to be in range, than it sometimes working and sometimes not (for example when people dont use the same quest library as me).

I swore I looked when playing yesterday and didn't see a way but today it smacked me right in the face.

    Thanks.

I could actually use some help on where people would find it logical to find settings. And what settings are redundant :P, I wanna trim en down eventually, just putting as much as possible in there in early testing :)

Suggestion: Be able to set the position of the tooltip that shows the quest I'm hovering, currently it displays over the questlog and I'd like to set it to display next to the questlog.

You can set it ;), it's in the settings.

    Looks like monkeyquest?

    Is that right?

Heavily inspired by monkeyquest, monkeyquest's highlighting searched for subzone text in the objectives, and highlights if it finds it. Mine does the same, but it also searches for zone text IF your in a different zone.

So for example Screecher Spirits from tanaris will be highlighted when your in feralas, because it says go to feralas.

Looks very nice!! Can we color the quest tracker background and the frame?

You can, but you'll need to change the transparency when you do so, because it for some reason defaults to either 100% transparent or 0% :P

Haven't been any updates lately because I'm working on modularizing things, so I don't wanna do too much work on the old code. I can't get too much work done before Kemayo agree's on a proper api though ;)

Didn't test this yet, so I got a question:

Does it also hook into the tooltip (as EQL)? When I do one of those stupid kill-quests, where I have to kill a certain amount of mobs, it shows me in the tooltip something like "Mob XY 1/6" when hovering over the unit. If it doesn't, it would be great if you could add it. :)

    It does :)

    Quote from Farook »

if nQL has a dual-pane design...

    Hell yeah... dual-panel is a must. ;)

It doesn't, but it's designed in a way so you hopefully never have to open the blizzard questlog again ;) (except from for quest details, but replacement quest details frame is coming, actually a lot of cool stuff is coming, just gotta do some bugfixes and cleanups first, I have some neat stuff dry coded ;) ).

    well thank you :)

It's in very early development at this point, so I'm letting those that stumble onto it be my beta testers ;)

Also very open for bugreports/suggestions, you can check the todo list on the top of core.lua to see what I'm currently planning :)

//edit, and for those looking at this thread, there's a screenshot from an older beta up here : http://hollowtube.mine.nu/interface/nQuestLog/info.html
