It sounds like what people really need is an "Address Book" which pops up when they open the sendmail frame. I'd rather have that than a drop down box.

    That'd be great!

I'd like to be able to set a "waypoint" concept...specifically, I'd like to be able to set a note as "the place I want to go" and have an arrow point in the direction of it on the minimap, even if it's too far away to show up on the map.

As for Xelepart's suggestion, I think something along the lines of Gatherer's feature to track a mapnote would is what he's suggesting.

I'm no programmer, but having an option in the note's dropdown to "Set as Waypoint" (or whatever), you could then increase the minimap not tracking distance to infinite. So that the icon would always hover around the outer edge of the minimap in the direction of note, until you get close enough for it to show on the minimap itself.

Anyway, keep up the great work!

Oh, and Cartographer_Stats is exactly what I was looking for.

why are people so obsessed with getting an enemy cast bar into a casting bar mod? seriously? explain it to me. yeah its a casting bar, but what does it have to do with modding your own casting bar.

Hey, if someone wants to write a simple mod does just that, fine.

However, an enemy casting bar has as much to do with your own casting bar as a mirror bar (which is included) does.

Also, eCastingBar is the most popular casting bar mod. It has an enemy casting bar, so people want similar functionality with all the goodness of Ace.

I keep wondering why click, scroll through list, click is faster than typing in a few letters and letting it autocomplete. I have all my bank mules on my friend list.

I mean look at this way. What if you had a menu that showed you the last 5 people you mailed in a session, then had submenus for friends/guild members. Then with huge guilds you might need a submenu for guilds that had offline members. I'm not sure what the elegant solution is. I also don't want to be the snooty guy who looks down on anything that requires a mouse(especially since wow itself sorta uses one).

Well, ideally, we could add characters to a list so the list would only have those names we wanted in it.

    To answer your question though:

    • I'm not a touch typist, so my typing isn't particularly fast.
    • Many players in my guild have names that are very similar, so having to type nearly a full name is tedious.
    • Many character I know have names that are VERY difficult to pronounce, thus spelling them even remotel;y correctly can be difficult.

I'd like to thank Rabbit for an Ace SVN castingbar mod (http://www.wowace.com/forums/index.php?topic=3815.0).

I realize you haven't had a chance to even test this add-on yet, however:

    FEATURE REQUESTS
    1. Could you add an enemy casting bar to the Casting Bar and Mirror Bar already in the mod? I like having a small moveable enemy castingbar.

Hmm... that's about it so far!

But its a serious question =). Your options, to me are either use eCB as you have been, or download and use oCB. Both addons rarely updated, and aren't exactly what I'd call "high maintenance" =)

It's true. I prefer getting stuff from one site, but that's simply not possible for my needs. An add-on like eCB gets few updates, and so getting it from Curse shouldn't be much of an issue (especially if you already go there for a few others).

With that said, Rabbit has posted a dry-coded remake of oCB – aptly titled "CBRipoff" – to the SVN. You can find his post at:

I thought about that too... but in some guilds... they have like 300 plus members. Now that would be one big fekking drop list. Id prefer a toggle but then we start looking at a saved variables to store that toggle.
hmmm.. maybe instead of a drop list for guild... an auto complete? start typing lew and you could get lewis but get to lewz and you get lewzephyr.
not sure how viable / easy that would be to create.
Just brain storming. Im not a coder in any way, but can goof around in someone else code to change minor features.

Yeah, I thought about the toggle too, but came to the same conclusion regarding saved variables.

Well, if the dropdown is a separate module, then people can decide if they mind having a saved variables file for it, and not use the module if they prefer.

Frankly, I don't have any problems with saving variables. I have tons of add-ons and I'm pretty sure all but a few save settings.

I think Kaelten is/was working on something like this.

Dig a little deeper in the forums, I'm sure you'll find a reference to it.

Thanks for the info, Rabbit! I did a search, and indeed Kaelten is working on such a mod, called "Combine". Here's the thread in case others are looking:

How bout have it have a droplist for your friends list. That way if you want to add people to send to, just add them to your friends list.
My logic is, If id want them on the drop list, I will be sending mail to them often or more than once, therefore, they are either in my guild, friends list, or an alt of mine.
Im sure you can do a call to friends list, but not sure if there is an api call to your alts. (probably not).
Oh well, my brain was just running, and Id like the feature of the drop list, as that is the entire reason I use mailto.

    Same reason I use MailTo.

As for using your Friends list as the source, that's fine, but I'd like it to include the Guild as well. I find it annoying and redundant to have guildies on my friends list (I use both GuildFu and FriendsFu), and there's a limit to Friends list size that you can run up against.

Oh, one other thing while I'm thinking of it:

    1. I've noticed that herb nodes tend to be on a higher draw layer than player-created notes (specifically noted on the World Map). This means that herb node markers will obscure standard note markers, should they be close enough. There's a been a few times where I've had trouble finding a note I placed on the world map because it was quite obscured by a herb node or two.

I'd suggest that player-created note markers be placed on the topmost layer, as they tend to hold more importance from a visibility standpoint.

    2. Not sure if you can do this without complicating things too much, but how about separate icon scaling for user-created notes, herb nodes, and mining nodes (ie: each module has it's own icon scale setting)?

I'd love to be able to keep my herb node markers relatively small, while making the user-created note icons nice and big (and visible)?

OK, that was two more things! ;p

DeuceCommander works wonderfully with with DrDamage, if you not familiar it is a mod/fubar plugin that gives you drop down style menu's for most of your addons that dont have fubar plugins.

Thanks. I'll give that a try!

    saltorio

    answers to your questions/concerns:
2.) ill see what i can do for that.
3.) new module was put up last night Cartographer_Stats it will give you the answer. its not feature rich right now but ill be working on that. right now when it is enabled and your ctrl-left-click it will open a side window listing each ore/herb and best spot to gather it based on your data. As you gather more nodes the data that data is tracked. I didnt do it as a specific ore/herb but just lsited them all as there arent really that many and the window scrolls. its meant ot be a quick reference
4.) the reason they dont have color is because any given crystal can spawn in those locations .. first pass blue next pass may be red

Thanks for the quick response Kagaro!

I've already DLed Cartographer_Stats: I look forward to giving it a try.

As for the power crystals, I didn't know they were random color. Good to know.

Thanks again, and keep up the fantastic work!

Would it be possible to get a dropdown list added to the mailto field in the mail creation window, that you can add (and delete) names from, similar to MailTo (http://wow.curse-gaming.com/en/files/details/5558/mailto-next/)?

I regularly mail stuff to the same few characters, and having to type in their names (even partially) is a PITA. A dropdown would make things much easier, as I could populate it with those names I use regularly.

    Thanks!

I tested GMail a weeks or so ago, and it didn't have such a feature then (that I found). If this is already implemented, please excuse my ignorance.
